In reply to: Eclipse burned marks in panel corners?
BRONZE MemberWill it be worthwhile to trade in my Eclipse MK1 after 5yrs for a Contour. Assuming the Contour screen is the latest LG screen with no risk of burn-in after time?
Does somebody know which type LG screen is in the Contour?

BRONZE MemberI have the Theatre with BL17s as the surrounds and a BL19. I think the mic calibration favours the Theatre’s bass too much and so for all listening positions I have increased the BL19 by +5. You can tell the difference with the BL19 on or off and I prefer on… the bass is more complete.
All this being said I already had the BL19, but if I didn’t I would not buy one in at full retail of £3,500.00. If you can source a second hand one in great condition I do not think there is any scenario where it wouldn’t add to your listening to music/watching a movie pleasure.
IMO, the bass in the Theatre is impressive, and is not a compromise. The 2 x 100 watt is more than most people will ever want… but a dedicated sub with all that extra 2 x 160 watt class D woofer, if you can afford it, go for it, but remember with the new rebalancing bass management it will not be driven like any previous setup, and it has taken me a few weeks to prefer the Theatre over the Eclipse for sound. For TV ease the Theatre is not as accomplished as the Eclipse.

FOUNDER MemberI only had my BST with an LG65 G2 panel up and running after a half day installing the thousands of bits and pieces.
BL90 Fronts
BL3 Rear (side)
BST Upfront.
Watched a Netflix movie and was impressed with the overall performance. The BST is able to push vocals competently while walking between the BL90 phantom image. My previous Gen1 Eclipse soundbar was useless in terms of sound match.
Plenty of bass rumble and physical from the BST (not all the the BL90s) and the BST definitely managed the sound distribution better. The Sound was somewhat “lighter” and less-intense than the previous configuration (Eclipse up front, BL90 Fronts).
I found watching TV channels, the sound was a little “thin” and needed the volume sliding up (say 45 to 53) to compensate. I think this is to do with the App settings in that as far as I can ascertain right now, there is no way to dB boost/reduce specific Sources. (Again in the Eclipse, I reduced the Netflix output volume by -6dB to match TV sound level).
I can only imagine that the BST will be enough in most TV rooms for bass response. I dont see it lacking. I would also imagine that “skinny” loudspeakers like the BL18 (+ BST) would benefit from some experimentation in the Sound Mode settings (Frequency tilt and Sound Enhancement). Also, I would make sure Bass Management is toggles on. This maximises the capability of your loudspeakers.
If this is not enough still for your taste, you either need a Sub or some fatter Beolabs

BRONZE MemberI use two Beosound Core with Eclipse Remotes with both connected to a TV that is also connected with Apple TV. My connections are:
1. Apple TV 4K connected via HDMI to TV,
2. Optical out from TV to Core
3. Apple TV Remote controls TV and Eclipse Remote controls audio.
I also use AirPlay 2 and the B&O App. Including the Cores I have 6 other B&O systems that work with the App or my phone.
My system works well for my needs. You can try an optical in splitter and see if that works for you. You can find them on Amazon.

in forum BeoVisionBRONZE MemberHi guys, my Eclipse mk1 panel got some burned marks in the upper left and right corner caused by these channel logo’ s. Refeshing the panel will not solve it. (Thought burn marks would not be possible with OLED panels?)
Is there another solution to make these marks disappear or is it just wear out due to the age of the panel (2017)? Does anybody knows what the avg life cycle of a oled panel is?

in forum General Discussion & Questionspatcherley
GOLD MemberI often listen to this whilst working and if was working fine last week. However, on Friday my Windows 10 PC had a major update which involved me restarting it a number of times after the ones involved in the update. Following this everything seems to be working OK apart from the Beoport N.Radio.
The rest of the Beoport seems OK including N.Music, locally, and masterlinking sound from my Beovision Eclipse.
Looking at the info for a station I notice that the status is blank, I have not been able to find any other issues. Is N.Radio working?

BRONZE Memberfor clarity, this is not my setup – my Theatre hasn’t arrived yet – its the setup in Selfridges in London, where I have spent 2 decent listening sessions in their listening room. But that was enough to inform me – and in my case, being a super wide sound stage guy too, I’d definitely be in the camp of wanting fronts with my Theatre, even in my modest lounge (5*5 metres).
My Theatre will sit in between front BL50’s, spread 2.5meters either side of the Theatre.
For rears, I’ll use BL17s, largely because I need to swap out my rear BL3’s (dodge PL wire).
With my setup, I wouldn’t obsess about rears too much – I just dont watch that many films with super special effects, where there are that many rear effects etc.
That all said, like those who have listened to the B&O suggested triangle (Theatre and rear 28s), its definitely very persuasive on its own merits, and more so than (for example) the equivalent of an Eclipse “triangle”.

BRONZE MemberMoin Thorben,

GOLD MemberTrue, if you playing something on the LG, f.e. the Music app of LG and link to other B&0 devices.
Yes, but for me (and others) THIS is a very interesting Use-Case and I do not understand why B&O is not supporting it better 🙁
I often listen to the news or any other spoken TV program (e.g. talk shows), you do not need to watch the display all the time because not much is happening. Parallel I like to walk around the house doing something and only listen to it. So it would be really great having no echo at all.
In the old days with Masterlink my use-case worked perfectly like a dream with Beovision 9 and some Beolab 35 around the house.

BRONZE MemberRegarding the Bang & Olufsen support (I asked for support), audio streaming of the TV program from the Beovision Harmony to Beosounds does not work! In reality, it works but unfortunately with a time lag = echo.
True, if you playing something on the LG, f.e. the Music app of LG and link to other B&0 devices.
But NOT true if you stream directly, f.e. DLNA sources or TuneIN, to the B&o Harmony using the B&o app. Then the sound will be in sync. (if the time delay on al devices are the same, as supposed).4 November 2022 at 11:53 #40113In reply to: BL17 vs BL3 vs BS-Balance vs Level VS Edge

BRONZE Member@steve1977. Pictures as requested. All use the standard OEM fitting, rather than STB. Only reason they are not right up flush to the coving is because of the PIR alarm sensor in the dining-room so B&O installers brought these down by 10 cm on all to have aesthetic consistency. These work very well with great sound imagery and imo don’t need to be landscape firing down, the BeoSound Theatre’s calibration mic sorted it all out. Even before with the Eclipse when I was using the one behind the TV as a Centre Height and the Dining room as Rear Surround Hight, sound great with sound coming down from above. I did consider landscape but it looked weird with the others in portrait around where we sit; especially when I open the doors from the lounge to the dining room when I want to go from 5.1.2 to 7.1.2 with the BeoSound Theatre.
Apologies first 2 pics should be rotated 90 degrees as the speakers are in portrait, as per the last 2 pics.

BRONZE MemberAll WiSA, and as I mentioned on a previous post, I have never had an issue in last 7 years with WiSA with the BL17s. My rears are nearly 7m from the Theatre.
I only had a problem with my BL19 on the Eclipse. I didn’t have any issue with the Avant 55 Gen 1, before that. Not sure why but most evenings you could see on the Eclipse in one of the sub menus that the WiSA quality dropped from Excellent to Poor, but a quick rescan solved it for the rest of the evening.
When they first installed the Theatre I did run the BL19 on WiSA for the first few days with no issue, but ultimately decided as they were pulling through new hdmi cables to take the opportunity to wire the sub. You have to think that the Theatre has the latest radio built in so I am assuming will be better than previous sets.
I feel people have a downer on WiSA (plus a downer on BL17s) but in my experience having lived with it for many years I feel for ease and aesthetics in the room it cannot be discounted as a genuine option. (Remember vs other BeoLabs the BL17s were seen as cheap and plain looking, but their specs and price vs other manufacturers the BL17s were a proper audiophile speaker, at an astronomical price for their size).
I did tweak my Sky Q router to be fixed on channel 36 for 5ghz rather than it be set to auto, not sure if this did anything or was a placebo effect, but every little tweak to clean the airways near the WiSA frequency.

BRONZE MemberIts definitely far more capable on paper – though the Harmony is no slouch, and remember many of those who proclaim the power / capability of the Theatre (and I wouldn’t necessarily disagree) also said the Harmony (at launch time) was way more capable than the Eclipse and super impressive sound wise.
If I had a Harmony, and presumably part of that would be because I really liked / lived the design, then I very much doubt I’d be changing to a Theatre setup. A Harmony with decent surround speakers is already more than enough / very impressive for most living rooms.
The Theatre in my living room setup, with BL50s fronts and BL17s as rears is way way over the line of overkill. But B&O made something (not criticising) far more than just a centre speaker, which is really what I really only need. But it is what it is, and its time for me to move on from my 12-65 to OLEDs, and I’ll swallow the price of the Theatre – especially as I expect it to last long into the future.

BRONZE MemberWith a BLI, the Halo becomes even more useful in the living room. You can control the lights, thermostat, etc. I can even push a button to make the Roomba vacuum start cleaning.
All true. The problem is I can do all that by voice with a $30 Google home, every iOS device around me, my applewatch, my logitech remote or my $60 hue tap wireless switch (looks like a plastic eclipse).
All true…..
but isn’t that true for all B&o stuff…….. you can always find cheaper alternatives/solutions, some with additional features, but……..
it isn’t B&o!
and by the way, I despise conversations which starts with “hey……”

So every time I look at jumping on the Intelligence I can’t throw $1500 CAN at it just to make the Halo less useless. All these features should be built into the halo. I might seriously consider it IF the halo’s battery lasted more than 2 days or if it didn’t constantly drop off the network and not respond. It’s a shame it has so much potential and 2 years ago they said more features were coming but it’s still basically fancy volume controller unless you more than double the price.
P.S. there is a new version of the Intelligence coming out I hear but no idea on whats new.

BRONZE MemberHi Skywalker, I see you have a Halo together with BR1. When testing the Halo at home 2years ago, I found it too limited for Video functions. Is it still true? I would like to buy a Halo for for daily A/V use with my Eclipse. Kind regards, Yann.
Yann-
I’ve been using a Halo with a Beosystem 4. I find myself using the Halo frequently to adjust the volume and to pause/start the video by pushing the center button on the screen. This is a pretty convenient feature. However, some apps on the Apple TV use the actual “play” and “pause” buttons instead of the center button. It would be nice if B&O added these two functions to the Halo main screen. I hope that the Theatre will at least allow volume control of video sources with the Halo. It would seem logical for B&O to eventually add the video control screen that the Beosystem 4 and Beovisions can use.
With a BLI, the Halo becomes even more useful in the living room. You can control the lights, thermostat, etc. I can even push a button to make the Roomba vacuum start cleaning.

FOUNDER MemberSmall hint to all installers: If you have a network problem check the network cable, which is delivered with your BS Theatre. Mine was faulty … My dealer had to send it in to the headquarters.
IIRC, installing my Eclipse in 2018, I had exactly the same problem with the hidden connector between the soundbar and the panel. This resulted in having to disassemble everything to re-fit. I wonder where B&O source this rubbish from?

I would be surprised if you couldn’t do the same on the Horizon.

BRONZE MemberI have just changed 6 days ago my Gen 2 Eclipse 55” to a Beosound Theatre on a motorised wall bracket with a LG G2 65” screen. Movies are my thing with Music secondary.
Everything is run through the TV i.e. music is via an Apple TV 4K using either Apple Music or Amazon Music or YouTube Music (I subscribe to everything!).
To my ears Apple Music on the ATV like for like track/sampling rate etc sounds better than Amazon Music. Also if you search for a specific track in Apple Music and click to see the sampling rate select the best rate… to my ears when I listen to all versions of Fleetwood Max Everywhere (there are many recordings to stream) you can hear subtle differences through the BL17.
I do not use the apps on the TV. Also have a Sky Q on UHD 10bit, and a Panasonic UHD Blu-ray… I still buy the 4K disc for those films I except to be epic eg Tenet, Topgun Maverick (waiting for release in the UK in November) and stream from Netflix and Amazon Prime, Disney, Paramount those which I think are a 1 time watch.
