There is a red dot and “offline” status symbol.
Where do you see the red dot?
Whenever I spotted the red dot in the app, it was an indication for an update for one of the devices
Thanks, that explains the “I have .10012, but the app *says* I got .10017, yet it offers me 10017.xxx” mistake. Great relief to know they didn’t creep in during the night and update-bandit us!-) Alas, it does not ameliorate forcing an update on a product when it is aded to an account, rather than asking. I think they should ask for any products added — but one might argue that new products come pre-set to “updates=YES” and therefore such autobadhavior is appropriate, provided adding old “updates=NO” products leaves them untouched. (@Steve, you were going to accept your GVA speakers’ update at some point, so why not try creating a new account and add them, settings status quo? That would test if the App blindly updates them or if it accepts that “‘Off’ means ‘Off’”. I cannot afford the risk on my remaining old unit to test this.)
To my knowledge this is the version for speakers set to the beta program.
Are you sure you didn’t set your Level to the beta program?
My BL28 and Balance both are set to follow the beta program and both have been updated.
addition: automatically updated to the sw version 1.8.10017.12375
To continue down the Spotify path, I already own a Chromecast Audio, but now the question is about how Aux-in is handled and the delay. If I were to route the Aux-in from the BS9000 to a NL device, I believe there will be a delay on the NL side, but no delay on the ML side. Therefore, if I had both devices playing at the same time, there’d be an “echo”. This is the scenario that the “NL/ML delay box” handles, correct? To delay the analog side (ML) to match the delay imposed by the digital side (NL)?
Note, if you have speakers connected to the BS9000 and play a CD then there will be no way to delay the sound played on the connected speakers!
Therefore, if I want synchronized audio from line-in input across all devices, I need to use line-in on the NL side (or find a delay box, but I don’t believe this box will delay the output between the BS9000 line-in and speakers connected to the BS9000, only to other ML connected devices). Therefore (assuming I’m correct in my thinking so far), I can, for example, connect a Chromecast to the Line-In on the BLC, and continue with a turntable connected to the Line-in on my (pre-GVA) BS2, and then map these to A.Video sources (like TV or DTV) in the BLC. Then, I press TV or DTV on the Beo4 while standing in front of my BS9000 or BL3500 and off we go on the ML devices.
This principle will work.
On the NL devices, how do you specify the BLC’s line-in as a source? I don’t recall whether the BLC shows up as a NL device in the BeoApp.
Strangely the BLC Line-in is not shown as source of the BLC in the app (BLC shows up in the app). The way around: setup the BLC as “primary connected” to the BS2. Then all (set up) sources of the BLC, including Line-in, are visible / reachable as “BS2 sources”.
If so, I’d start playing the Chromecast via the Spotify App which the BLC will sense and turn on, and then I can “touch to join” on NL devices (or app) to hear the audio?
The auto-sense doesn’t work to satisfactory, so I stopped using it. In principle the right source selection on ML-side (as set in the BLC) should open the Line-in of the BLC. Otherwise start Line-in of the BLC on the BS2, the start the ML-side with the right command.
One more question on a slightly different topic, if I want to play CDs from the BS9000 on my BL3500 and have this simultaneously playing on a NL device, I would need a delay box, correct?
See my remark above.
If I forget about the BLC and just add a core to the line-in of the BS9000, and connect the line-out of the BS9000 to the line-in of the core, I’d have a similar delay problem when playing CDs, correct? As the audio distributed via the line-in of the core is delayed a bit.
Can’t command, no experience……. but I expect lots of strange behaviour; on the same time input and output…. how to handle?
Can I push Spotify to the ML side? This would be my main use-case. I sort of recall Spotify not being distributable, but also sort of remember there being a loophole that allowed this for the BLC. If not, what about Deezer?
I have little experience with Spotify (maybe somebody else can elaborate, I do expert it will work though: Deezer should work)
Once the audio is pushed to ML, is it available to all ML devices? I have a BL3500 connected to ML and I’d like the NL audio to go there. I realize I’ll probably need to use a Beo4 to control the BL3500. This is my 2nd more important use case.
Once a source is available to the Audio Master on the ML-side it should be available to the others also,
Is it correct that I can control the BS9000 to some degree with a Beoremote 1? Like turning it on to play NL sources (like Spotify)?
You can control the BS9000 completely with a BR1
I don’t care so much about sending ML audio to NL, but it would be nice to have.
This could become tricky. The ML side does need “sources” but the command CD can only be given to one source. The same for N.Music. If you for example program Deezer as N.Music source for the ML side, you can’t use it again. So Music from the BS5 should be reprogrammed….. but then you could end with conflicts with your BS9000.
I sort of recall there being special stuff required for the BS5… that having a BS5 in the ML network limited some of the capabilities of the BLC, but the details are hazy. Is there something to this, or am I mis-remembering?
I do not have knowledge about special requirements. But the special settings of the BS5 could be the spoiler in a system NL devices-BLC- BS9000 + BL3500 + BS5 (see previous remark). Note: you could add a second BLC to your NL setup. One for the BS5 one for the BS9000.
I do not have a ML TV. I realize this isn’t a question, but I recall this was a key point to the BLC configuration.
It should also work without a TV
BLC latest sw version: 1.4.3.19864
mine was updated on 20-10-2021 to sw 1.27.47106.120390320.
SO it seems it has the latest sw version
Hi Carolpa, Thank you so much for your elaborate advice! Following your steps, I got it working. Would it also be possible to use the Beo4 to control the volume? Right now, I can switch tracks with the Beo4, but for volume I have to revert to the B&O app. Thanks again! Joeri
The volume command given is processed by the BS3000. But the speakers are connected to the Core. So this is normal behaviour. If you have the correct Core you can connect an IR-eye. Then it should be possible to use the Beo4 for volume control.
But be aware: then you must set the BS3000 in option 0 otherwise you could end up in a mess with controlling the system.
BLC
- BLC set to A.Slave
- Experience mapped to NL: check the BS3000 sources
- note: you can change the name of a source also (for example CD to BS3000 CD)
- Note confirm the steps with pushing the Store button.
- Note: you can give it its own name: set Friendly name in NL
Core
- goto Core configuration pages
- choose: setup – link to other product – set primary to the BLC (= Friendly name in NL)
- press button connect
Play a BS3000 source:
- start the app
- choose Core
- click black bar with Core (above Home)
- choose the three dots
- select the BS3000 CD
now the CD from the 3000 should start to play on the BL20 connected to your Core
Sorry to say it – it seems that your converter is not properly configured. What you ask for should be possible.
I agree, Radio of the BV11 should for example be programmed as N.Radio.
Back in the glory days of the converter B&O made a little box, that can provide the ML with power…..for those who still had a ML-based link setup, had a new NL-based tv and wanted to ditch the old audiomaster.
If the BS3200 is still used in the setup, the proposed “little box” isn’t necessary.
So theoretically i can use this configuration to accomplish an additional multiroom with passive speakers?: BeoSound Essence MKII & MCL2P; connected via PowerLink or BeoLink Converter NL/ML & MCL2P; connected via PowerLink or MasterLink that should both work?
Correct; MCL2P PowerLink connected to or Essence mkII or BLC.
A BL Passive can also be used as amplifier (and a BL MCL/ML converter should also work as amp).
What is currently the best way to integrate passive speakers into a B&O Multiroom system? Now I have a BeoSound Core with several 8002 speakers. Now I want to add an additional room with passive speakers (must be outdoor). Do I need a second Core and a BeoAmp 2 for this? Is there any way to make it cheaper than buying these two devices that cost at least 2k€?
You can opt also for a Core or Essense mkII or BLC (Beolink Converter NL/ML) and a MCL2P of Beolink Passive as amplifier for the passive speakers.
the BLC, BL Passive, MCL2P are sold second hand regularly.
Control would rely on both the TV and the speaker receiving remote control signals at the same time, so some issues may arise when trying to operate it, change volume, etc. Hope this helps! Kind regards, Steve.
if both response to the same remote it will (sometimes) become a mess.
Example: command next channel will be received twice. So not the next channel, but the channel there after will be activated! Etcetera….
The way out would be to put one in option 4. But still not the easiest way to control both.
Horizon:
- I expect an ATV will fit behind the back covers (never tried though),
- Android OS isn’t the best. It has sometimes strange behaviours. But ours is still one which is often used,
- As described the Horizon settings menu’s are B&o like and sure WebOS is better then Android TV,
- the Horizon is NOT a stand-alone tv. Additional PL speakers can be fitted (it has a similar Sound setup as the BV11).
- AND it still has curtains
I changed to the BLI as it’s much easier to hook up cameras. The overlay works fine when I press HomeControl on my remote. I have made this macro again in the BLI where anything would PAUSE and then the HomeControl would show up but this is not working. Any help would be much appreciated.
Do you get error messages in “tools/monitor” or in the “log” of the bli?
Hi All I am unable to skip/select CDs or tracks using the BLI and BeoLiving app. Beolink2 app works totally fine with the BLGW in controlling the ML Audiomaster. Has anybody else experienced this?
BLI only supports ML if the BLGW or MLGW is still present
OR
The ML products are connected through a BLC
And no, all my devices are uptodate (of course) – it probably is because I did not configure Deezer, since I don’t use it. MM
I did use Deezer once for one year. Hereafter never again, still I never saw a red dot in the app because of it.
(at least on my iPad).
It’s a iPad thing, as you mentioned. On a iPhone everything looks just fine.
note: you’re discussing a beta version of the app.
Mishaps happens, so report them. Then it can be resolved in next (beta) versions.
note: I did find the new font “refreshing” though. Further on I noticed today, because of MM post, a same, but lesser, effect on the latest official release (but than on the grey letters).
@MM, one of your devices seems the be in for a sw update
But I prefer to use the Apple Music app and Airplay to speakers from there but this is not working. Please help.
Did you checked the box “Multiroom for Airplay” in the Core settings?
In the Netherlands nothing yet….
By switching of the auto-update and toggling from-to the software page, the update appeared. The first Halo is updating at the moment. (location NL)
As I understand it yes you can send to AirPlay 2 devices from Audirvana, however to do that you have to select those devices as the output on that Mac.
that may be correct, but try send the stream directly to the BL28 by setting so.
so change the output (blue in the picture) to BL28.
And try the Audirvana remote, see
