BRONZE Member~Certainly more capable as a stand alone than a stand alone Eclipse / Harmony.
For those who added extra speakers to their previous BV’s, then you’d probably want to still add extra speakers to a Theatre. The difference with the Theatre is that you first additional extra speakers may be just rear speakers – as opposed to a first addition being front L/R with previous BV’s.

BRONZE MemberMy Theatre arrived today following a problematic eclipse that B&O was good enough to resolve.
First problem is that the visa mount for the 55 does not fit the LG G1 maybe LG changed the locating screws for the G2?? panel; its to short, missing the top location studs, so the guys fabricated a metal insert to allow the top screws to locate.
Setting up was seamless enough but when doing so to change the stand position it asks to re- calibrate via the mic all over again and wont allow anything else?
The app is not that intuitive but i suppose i will get used too it
The motorised stand now has one operating plane; not two as in the eclipse, this means the tv stays away from the wall by quite some distance, meaning its eal life movement is not that much.
I exchanged for this product as i did not want to get caught with another out of date beovision after only 6 months.
Sound wise, its very good; although im really not getting the ‘surround experience’ in appropriate films at all.
Matched with Lab 28 the soundstage opens up; i would not be happy with just the theatre for that reason alone as for B&O suggesting a sound ‘triangle’ with lab 28 at the rear; it would not work for me,one is to aware of the sound being ‘in front’ and the app is quirky and keeps stating its ‘offline’

BRONZE MemberBeo911,
OK, lets see if this puts you on a track worth considering…..
- BV Eclipse (Mk1 with cr@ppy LG Music Player)
- BL90, Powerlink from BV to BL90
- Equals cr@appy sound. No other BS product worthy in my opinion – including Core.
- I purchased an Auarlic G2 stack, feed BL90s via XLR. Happy but have to control 3rd party products which are not fully integrated into B&O Ecosystem.
I added the BL90s to the BeoApp (if you had the original BL90 App – as good – even better). Placed BL90 Line-sense into Automatic. Next Powerlink, XLR, SPDIF etc…Set Thresholds and time-outs.
So for TV, Theatre all works properly with distributed sound. I have communicated to B&O (feedback as Beta user in Theatre-BeoApp) about Wide/Narrow/Omni settings and sync-ing needs some attention.
For the Auralic system, BL90s fires-up, hits narrow mode etc…. I use an Essence Remote in IR mode for volume control, Auralic DAC set to 100% XLR output, use the Auralic App for tracks, albums etc…. BS Core definitely not required or missed.
The only issue I had to watch (not tested on the BSTH yet), is when listening to Auralic music on the BL90, going to Sleep, the BL90s have a 60 sec minimum time-out to Standby. Firing up the Eclipse before the 60sec time-out, it recognised the BL90s as not available. This could be corrected on the BR1 control by List >> Speaker >> Video setting (video in my BR1 was to go to 5.1 sound, with Wide dispersion on the BL90).
Hopefully that helps?

BRONZE Memberdo I understand correctly that you can use the Theatre without any wings? does it look weird with gaps?
The BSTH is designed for a 55in screen (without wings). Wings can be purchased separately (at the stupid price of £800 a set) for 65in and 77in screens. I did consider at one point buying the 77in wing-set to go with a 65in screen and go for the Eclipse look. However, common sense was flicked back in to “high” mode.
I find the gap between screen and BSTH almost not noticeable from the fret width upward. DHA’s picture probably accentuates matters (non-LG screen, bright backlight behind the panel and eye-level at the joint).
You can fiddle endlessly to (limited) adjust the gap, how forward/backward/Tilt and twist you want the panel. The hardest adjustment is to jockey the ends of the panel to match the sides of the BSTH.
Photo below is my Panel set-up at the viewing position.
This Photo shows how the BSTH tries to hide its bulk and how relatively close the Panel goes to the wall. The SMI and out-going cables drive that distance.
I’ve gotta say, (I would say that wouldn’t I?), that this product comes across as a pretty decent offering from B&O. The design is out there, unusual, quirky but it works. The TV is packed with tech and sounds very good. I was even expecting the App to be useless. Yes, there a few things missing but as a software driven product, it works surprisingly well for a B&O product, a few weeks out of the box.

in forum BeoVisionSimonWeir
BRONZE MemberEclipse/Harmony owners,
Please may you help a former Eclipse owner, now a Theatre owner to post the specific settings for the Sport sound preset.
This preset was a default option with the Eclipse/Harmony but not for the Theatre and Stage. I am looking to recreate and save as a user created sound mode.
I did feel this was a great preset for Football and F1, and with the World Cup, felt I wanted to hear more of the stands and the echo of the stadium.
I am after the specific numbers/option selected e.g. ‘yes/no’, ‘medium’, ‘5’ etc. for:
– frequency tilt
– sound enhancement
– speech enhancement
– bass management
– compression
– surround
– height
– stage width
– envelopment
So I may copy these. Thank you in advance.

GuyModeratorGuy, My Beoport PC N.Radio worked fine on Windows 10 until the last update, about 2 weeks ago. Since then, though N.Music works and linked sources from my Eclipse also play, N.Radio does not play a station. Installed on an old Windows XP laptop and on Windows xp virtual machine on Windows 10 it all works fine. So as you say a driver may need replacing or it is internal in the software using something that was unsupported and as now been replaced. Paul
Thanks Paul that’s useful to know. If it’s working on your XP and Keith’s Win7 then Win10 may well be the problem. Any chance that you could check the driver versions in Device Manager on both your Win10 and XP PCs?
I might try setting up a Win 7 virtual machine this week on either my desktop or NAS and see how I get on.

BRONZE Member1a) I would have thought that middle ceiling speaker is a must for Atmos, is this not supported by the Theatre?
1b) does the Theatre support 8K as it is today or will it require hardware updates? As far as
2) which provides best ease of use and control and sound and picture quality, to connect external sources to the Theatre or to the television?
3) can the Theatre control an LG CX? I find the user manual unclear as it states “newer than CX”, does that include or exclude the CX?
4a) how many speakers can be wired to the theatre, I see 4 RJ45 powerlink, is it fair to assume 8 speakers?
4b)And can one assign any speaker position combination for these or will they need to be in pairs
5) is the user experience once all is setup easy like BeoVisions normally are so that all members of the family can use the system?
To the best of my current knowledge:-
1a) I would not get too hung-up on the Atmos thing. It is just a trendy Studio Algo to distribute the sound auralally to give a 3D soundstage. The BSTH does a good job but for me, one is not much different than another??
1b) I dont know about 8K. I hear that the EU in its wisdom has effectively banned 8K because of the significantly greater power consumption. I know both my Eclipse and G2 panel is enough to heat my apartments living space to 21degC!!
2) It depends, but you can connect 3 additional HDMI inputs to the Theatre (HDMI 2 is the eARC to the panel). In my instance, I connect HDMI to the BSTH where I need PUC Control. However, I believe that if you use peripheral equipment with the HDMI-CEC standard, I think it makes no difference where it is connected as it a unifying/integrating standard? I think BSTH/LG G2 Panel have 4 HDMI’s each – of which HDMI B/HDMI2 is reserved for eARC comms.
3) I think only the C2 and G2 Panels are supported. With LG, you need to download the B&O LG App to enable remote control via BR1. I dont know if this LG app is compatible with the CX. But you can test this now I think?
4a) the way the Beoapp seems to work is you can add 4 sets of wired speakers and I think 4 pairs of WISA speakers. When I do a quick test to do a new wired speaker config with a BL2 first, I can add only 1 BL90 to the BL2. I cant add a pair. So I imagine you use 1 of 4 connections adding a subwoofer.
4b) When you add a speaker, you add to that speaker 1 extra unit. This can be identical model, a different model (i.e. BL90 – Front Left and BL3 – Front Right) or it can be solo (just a Bl90 Front left)
5. Like all recent Beovision setups, the operating system is involved. Sound modes, Advanced Sound modes, Listening Positions, Sub Cross-over, distances, steering etc… Also add that you can programme Sound setup to a given source. However, once you have done this, the Beoapp or BR1 makes it very simple to operate. I have added Amazon Music, Prime Video, Netflix, Oppo 103, TV, Radio, Youtube etc….to my system. It all now works with a simple press on the BR1 exactly as I want it. (and more importantly, the Wife gets a device with a simple interaction – on/off/ chan up/down/ vol up/down).

SimonWeir
BRONZE MemberI have a Panasonic DP-UB820EB and when I was using my Eclipse with PUC I had it set to the Panasonic Generic Blu-ray. Now using the Theatre my Apple TV 4K (2022) & Sky Q use the PUCs. My 820 goes into my LG G2 directly in hdmi 1 not the Theatre; and I need to use the LG remote for the hdmi-cec, or the 820s own remote, as the BR1 does not to my knowledge do cec.
FYI I use my Nintendo Switch as the other hdmi into the Theatre. My feeling is the PUCs are best saved for the devices I use most often.
Of note for the Apple TV 4K (2022) the only PUC that works in the long list is an old “Apple TV 4”. Strange because there is a new Apple TV 4 + 4K but this does nothing.

BRONZE MemberMM,
in the official photos, the justice is not really done. At first, I did not like the BSTH and looks somewhat ugly with the boat hull profile. However, I was keen to get away from spending what is essentially £2k a year overhead on Beovisions with built-in obsolescence. Mk1 Eclipse is case in point. The Theatre could well reduce that overhead to £400/yr over a 5year expectation.
With my little white IKEA plinth, looking front-on, the boat hull sort of smooths away and looks very thin. In fact, the LG G2 and BSTH is now closer to the wall than the Eclipse on motorised stand and in a way, looks more demur than the Eclipse and in a way, a more discrete and balanced TV design execution.
One thing I think could be changed for the better is an aluminium cover for the table stand. As it is now, the black segment of the table stand that is proud of the unit reflects upward on to the boat hull. The black anthracite model would mitigate that.
Finally, the Oak fret design is not for me, preferring the fabric option.

BRONZE MemberI briefly looked at keeping my Eclipse Stand, fabricating a 10mm thick Aluminium Plate and hex-bolting the Theatre to the stand (excluding the Eclipse “Y” bracket). In the end, I just sold it on.
The STB variant looks interesting and that 7-40 stands look cheap on eBay. However, I think I will look to see if a 7-55 stand comes on the market. The 77in Theatre on the table stand on the floor looks really cool – very BV5/9/10/11 etc and hides all the cable. The low-slung look suits the Theatre/G2 look
In the end, I went super-cheap and made a plinth out of glued Ikea Lack hanging shelving, cut the innards out of one of them (honeycomb paper) to hide excess cable. Add a bit of filler, sandpaper and some emulsion paint for £60!

BRONZE MemberI have the Theatre with BL17s as the surrounds and a BL19. I think the mic calibration favours the Theatre’s bass too much and so for all listening positions I have increased the BL19 by +5. You can tell the difference with the BL19 on or off and I prefer on… the bass is more complete.
All this being said I already had the BL19, but if I didn’t I would not buy one in at full retail of £3,500.00. If you can source a second hand one in great condition I do not think there is any scenario where it wouldn’t add to your listening to music/watching a movie pleasure.
IMO, the bass in the Theatre is impressive, and is not a compromise. The 2 x 100 watt is more than most people will ever want… but a dedicated sub with all that extra 2 x 160 watt class D woofer, if you can afford it, go for it, but remember with the new rebalancing bass management it will not be driven like any previous setup, and it has taken me a few weeks to prefer the Theatre over the Eclipse for sound. For TV ease the Theatre is not as accomplished as the Eclipse.

BRONZE MemberI only had my BST with an LG65 G2 panel up and running after a half day installing the thousands of bits and pieces.
BL90 Fronts
BL3 Rear (side)
BST Upfront.
Watched a Netflix movie and was impressed with the overall performance. The BST is able to push vocals competently while walking between the BL90 phantom image. My previous Gen1 Eclipse soundbar was useless in terms of sound match.
Plenty of bass rumble and physical from the BST (not all the the BL90s) and the BST definitely managed the sound distribution better. The Sound was somewhat “lighter” and less-intense than the previous configuration (Eclipse up front, BL90 Fronts).
I found watching TV channels, the sound was a little “thin” and needed the volume sliding up (say 45 to 53) to compensate. I think this is to do with the App settings in that as far as I can ascertain right now, there is no way to dB boost/reduce specific Sources. (Again in the Eclipse, I reduced the Netflix output volume by -6dB to match TV sound level).
I can only imagine that the BST will be enough in most TV rooms for bass response. I dont see it lacking. I would also imagine that “skinny” loudspeakers like the BL18 (+ BST) would benefit from some experimentation in the Sound Mode settings (Frequency tilt and Sound Enhancement). Also, I would make sure Bass Management is toggles on. This maximises the capability of your loudspeakers.
If this is not enough still for your taste, you either need a Sub or some fatter Beolabs

BRONZE MemberI use two Beosound Core with Eclipse Remotes with both connected to a TV that is also connected with Apple TV. My connections are:
1. Apple TV 4K connected via HDMI to TV,
2. Optical out from TV to Core
3. Apple TV Remote controls TV and Eclipse Remote controls audio.
I also use AirPlay 2 and the B&O App. Including the Cores I have 6 other B&O systems that work with the App or my phone.
My system works well for my needs. You can try an optical in splitter and see if that works for you. You can find them on Amazon.

BRONZE Memberfor clarity, this is not my setup – my Theatre hasn’t arrived yet – its the setup in Selfridges in London, where I have spent 2 decent listening sessions in their listening room. But that was enough to inform me – and in my case, being a super wide sound stage guy too, I’d definitely be in the camp of wanting fronts with my Theatre, even in my modest lounge (5*5 metres).
My Theatre will sit in between front BL50’s, spread 2.5meters either side of the Theatre.
For rears, I’ll use BL17s, largely because I need to swap out my rear BL3’s (dodge PL wire).
With my setup, I wouldn’t obsess about rears too much – I just dont watch that many films with super special effects, where there are that many rear effects etc.
That all said, like those who have listened to the B&O suggested triangle (Theatre and rear 28s), its definitely very persuasive on its own merits, and more so than (for example) the equivalent of an Eclipse “triangle”.

BRONZE MemberMoin Thorben,
LG
