FOUNDER MemberMy Theatre is on 2.3.4.15129 also. Bugfixes and stability Improvements.
I cannot ascertain what has been improved from the app or the device. I have made a number of requests to fix bugs etc…and these are under “consideration” by the development team for future improvement.
- There are some BL90 interactions which need to be joined-up with Theatre.
- Listening positions does not compress as you add more buttons/listening positions
- There is a issue with editing “TV” and “Music” lists repetitively
- Cannot move some LG apps (Music Apps) to the Music List button
- Source Levelling control (was in Eclipse/Harmony)
- A device-specific PUC add-on

BRONZE MemberI’ll certainly pass that one on!
However, remember that if you’re using a single source (e.g. an Apple TV) with multiple streams / apps, then a source-based gain offset will not help – however, this is already true on an Eclipse/Harmony for example, as you probably already know.

FOUNDER MemberHi Geoff,
So one thing to “add-back” perhaps is the dB gain function in the eclipse which allowed to the User to try an match different source outputs to the same general level. I understand that watching Live TV, a volume setting of say 50 is required. On Netflix, 48-46. Amazon Prime I think has lots of people with hearing difficulty because I have to wind that down to 40-42. Again, as you indicate, it probably has something to do with the “quality” of the Title and its format.
This volume normalisation feature is employed it seems in Mybuttons but in a dark room, my muscle-memory of what is 1-2-3-4 Mybutton is not intuitive. Better just to press TV, curser down and select the most appealing blue writing on the screen. Sound levels pre-matched of course!

GOLD MemberBackporting the feature to the first generation Eclipse would be interesting also, even if it is unlikely that B&O will do the effort. A way to turn the feature on and off is however required to avoid burn-in on the OLED screen.
The current way now is to look at the app.

Jean

My observation of replacing an Eclipse on a one-for-one swap with a Theatre – even keeping the same wiring loom connecting BL90, BL3 and an Oppo 105 is that my typical “action movie” volume setting of 47 (sufficient) now runs 50-52.Nothing wrong with that…..it may be like a potent sports car…. BRONZE MemberTypically, what volume are you all using through the LG TV (obviously depends) but I am fairly close with the volume at 43-46 and the dialogue is pretty weak. A character also knocked on a door with the scene on the inside and the knock was barely audible. Other elements are fine such as action, score etc. I checked the app and the position is correct and sound setting on movie.

GOLD MemberWith the fantastic new Theatre proposition, I think it is interesting to see how the audio and video signal management, and also audio and video reproduction have been going around various ‘cabinets’ over time:
From the ‘norm’ (I trust that there are historical exceptions) that everything is integrated in one cabinet to separable cabinets: (trying to be complete)
AV9000 – audio&video management + video reproduction in one cabinet, separate speaker cabinet (with VCR though)
BeoVision 4/12 – audio+video management in BeoSystem 1/2/3/4, separate screen, separate (center) speaker
BeoVision 7 – audio+video management & video reproduction combined, separate (center) speaker
BeoVision 9 – audio+video management in BeoSystem 3, audio (center) and video reproduction combined in one cabinet
BeoVision 5/6/10/11/14/Horizon & BeoPlay V1 – all in one
BeoSound Stage/Theatre & BeoVision Contour/Eclipse/Harmony – video management & reproduction in one cabinet (TV), audio management and reproduction in one cabinet (you could argue the Contour has no easily separable cabinets, but I believe the screen is actually a complete LG TV)
It looks like that first the speakers were isolated from the AV management, then later also the screen. Then it all came together again. After that the video management found its home in the screen, and the audio management in the center speaker. Which sounds quite logical to me!
I am using a BeoSystem 3 with an LG C9 and a BeoLab 7-1 center speaker, but actually only use the audio management and PUC control of the LG. All video management is with the LG. Bigger cable salad! 🙂
Just a thought.

BRONZE MemberI am having no luck.
I have manual updates turned on, and the automatic/manual slider button is not displayed I assume because it’s ready to do the update.
I tried removing it from the app, and re-adding it. This fixes most Balance problems.
I tried with an apple device, and it doesn’t even have a greyed out “install now” button. It takes me to the software update screen and there’s nothing to do.
I’ve verified that I have the newest app software.
I tried rebooting the TV through the app.
I don’t want to factory reset because I don’t exactly remember all that was required to setup the PUC.
I don’t understand the above comment about there being two menus. I always updated the screen through the TV and the sound center through the app. When I open the Eclipse on the app, there’s a big box that says “New Software Available”. I click the box, and it takes me to a screen that shows the new software version and has a link for previous releases and a non-working “install now” button.

BRONZE MemberThe theatre will not ensure multi-room speakers stay in sync with TV sources.
That capability ended with the Eclipse / Harmony generation of TVs – so yes, other multi room speakers could join the audio from video sources playing on a BV Eclipse (for ex), but the joined speaker would be out of sync. The previous generation (BS4 platform of BV’s) did allow the audio sync to be managed, but as I say, that capability has gone. And I dont believe it has returned with the Theatre.
As / If the Theatre gains the ability in the future (as seems likely) for Mozart enabled B&O speakers to be used as part of a theatre based setup, it would seem logical perhaps then that the syncing issues may get sorted out. But until then, assume no.,
not sure if that is exactly the question / scenario you are asking about though – so perhaps it might be worth clarifying from your side?

FOUNDER MemberI nearly went there. Glad I didn’t.
Ordered a 65in screen and 77in wings. Fortunately, due to delays, I could re-specify and the Dealer was very helpful.
The problem was to properly visualise that a 77in screen is 1771mm wide, 65in screen is 1441mm wide. So 165mm per side for “Eclipse wings look”. The standard overhang is IIRC, 70mm on the Eclipse 65 – so twice the overhang per side. Proportions are not good now.
Also, the finish/design of the Theatre wings is somewhat unresolved being fabricated a 10/12mm thick Alu/Plastic sandwich. The Eclipse wings were substantial rounded box-section for the actual soundbar – not a thin plate hanging in space.
My advice is buy the wings you need to fit your TV or have the soundbar be smaller than the TV. Visuals are better I think?

Have you set updates to auto or manually?
Kind regards,

BRONZE MemberThe B&O app says I have a software update available for my Eclipse mk1, but when I get to the upgrade screen, the “install now” button is greyed out and doesn’t respond to clicks. I’ve tried resetting the app and resetting the TV (unplugged and replugged). Tried with the TV on, tried with the TV off…
It’s claiming the new version is 5.3.51126
The current version is 4.1.47188
The TV reports “excellent” connectivity with the app.
Ideas?

Paul,
Which generation is your Eclipse?
I have a Gen 1 one (software version is the last one) and still nothing.

BRONZE MemberHi,
> The Wide role is possible for the Theatre’s internal speakers
This is not correct. The side-firing OR the “wide” virtual outputs can be assigned to have any speaker role, but a “wide” speaker role is not one of those options.
I realise that there may be some confusion caused by the naming of the virtual outputs as “wide” instead of “surround”, however, this was done so to overlap of the input channels’s names (the Speaker Roles) with the output channels’. You can blame me for this.
If you are placing external loudspeakers next to the Theatre (near the optimal locations for the Left Front and Right Front loudspeakers), then I would recommend that they be given these roles, and that you either choose the Centre output only for the Centre Front Speaker Role, OR use all three front-firing outputs for Cf (with some tweaking of Speaker Distances and Speaker Levels to pull things inwards a little as described in this article)
If they really are out farther (say in the region of ±60º instead of ±30º) then I would recommend setting them to Left Surround and Right Surround roles, but lying to the Theatre and telling it that these are slightly closer than they actually are. Duplicating the roles with the actual Surround loudspeakers will help to tie things together, but lying about the distance will help to pull the image back slightly.
It may be counter-intuitive, but if your input is primarily 5.0 or less, then (I know I know… it’s weird…) it is worth trying setting the loudspeakers in your “wide” locations to have “Back” speaker roles. It might not work – and it certainly won’t for 7.x.y materials – but for upmixing it isn’t necessarily a crazy idea.
I’ve done a similar setup where I had an Eclipse and two Beolab 50s as a front “3.0” system where I set the internal outputs of the Eclipse to play (from left to right): Left Surround, Centre Front, Right Surround (and the 50s playing the Left Front & Right Front, of course…) This worked well.

GOLD MemberCould it be the case that some of the disfunctional behavior of the migration is due to the connection of the respective device with a BLC?
So far there has been no one with a proper working migration in the Eclipse. The Essence seems to migrate but not mine. It is connected with a BLC, same with my Moment. So maybe this causes a stop to the migration process somehow. Anybody else with migration trouble and in a similar set up?

GOLD Member@Rolf2 Could you post the exact number of the sw version…..or just say, if it is identical with the one I posted here? MM
MM, I would say, they are identical. Here are my sw versions:
Essence MK II: 2.1.50867
Beosound 2: 2.1.50871
Moment: 2.2.31594
Eclipse 1st Gen: 5.3.51126
I also have a BLGW which is already integrated in my network but not yet in use. In summer I started programming – but did not progress in the last 3 month – and thus have some sources active. As ebnrob wrote, I can see B&O Radio in the sources, though I get a mixed result:
Eclipse shows TuneIn + B&O Radio.
Essence shows TuneIn + B&O Radio.
Moment only shows TuneIn.
Selecting B&O Radio in the BLGW does not trigger playing it through the source („waiting for product“).
I hope they will get it fixed soon, would be nice having „B&O Radio“ listed in my BR1ˋs ?.
Kind regards,
Rolf

B&O Radio appears in the BR1 for Core and BS1 without action from myself.
Unfortunately, the Eclipse misses.

FOUNDER MemberHello Beoworlders!
Did it too and found the same discrepancies in the naming of radio stations between TuneIn and B&O.
The migration was succesful on my BS1 and Core.
But favorites are duplicate on the list, as if each device adds it’s own favorites to the app’s list.
The B&O radio source is listed in my Gen 1 Eclipse, but I cannot add it to the BR1.
When searching in the “sources” settings of the TV, I see that B&O Radio misses the option to chose the list in which add it (TV or Music).
And when I use the app with the TV as player, I have too the message stating that the action is not available in the product.
Millemissen, how did you add B&O radio on your BR1?
Have a nice sunday,
Yann.

GOLD MemberI had a update to my Eclipse soundcenter yesterday and went looking for changes. I noticed that B&O Radio was now a source that I can make specific changes to in the B&O App on the Eclipse. When I opened the B&O App on my phone it said I could migrate Tunein sources to B&O Radio but when I try to play a B&O Radio station I get told not supported on the chosen device, the Eclipse. Paul
Thanks for your information. I noticed that my Eclipse did an update on the Soundcenter but had not looked into it. So I better be careful and wait a little.
