I have restored various BGs from BG 1000 to BG 4002 and BG 5000. From a mechanical point of view I recommend the BG 5000, I bought that one 12 years ago, opened it up and cleaned and lubricated it, checked all adjustment and it has been my daily used BG nearly ever since. IMO the best build BG I have come across, build like a tractor. I use a MMC 2 on it. The difference to a MMC 4 is clearly hear able. Its the only BG I have had that I could store for a couple of years, take it out. connect it and run it without any problems.
Location: Mexico cityThere are apparently at least 2 different versions, one with OA81 and one with OA70 fitted. The OA81 has the smaller caps and different transistors fitted, yours and my pic of the PCB are identical, whereas your trace with components pic is different. So you will have to decide which one you want to copy.
@ Martin, I remember the RIAA, the BG 1000 is still going strong playing with my son in CPH together with the BM 1900 you also restored connected now to some Sonos equipment, but let the young ones play around. I would here put a big smiley if I could

Location: Mexico cityTry Mouser Electronics, but you will have to go for radial leaded caps in some cases, looking at the PCB you should be able to fit them. start looking for 80/25 if not there, look for 82/25 and so on just keep it inside the 20%. If you dont find it check with Martin, I know he has some of them if not all. I will go check in my stock I have 80 and 100 axial in stock but dont remember which V

Location: Mexico cityHi Matador, compliment to your design, I am more to keeping it original, but I do like the look of it. You mentioned that you are half deaf (me too) and listening to MP3 and the like, so sound vise there will be no problems but maybe the speakers will be more directional, you will have to check that.

Location: Mexico cityWhere did you buy your belt, most belts bought on the bay are worthless
Location: Mexico cityProbably a capacitor problem in the Beomaster as the problem is both channels. If the Beogram has a preamp the problem could also be there. If playing a radio station, do you have the same problem ?
Location: Mexico cityAs Matador says, and get the manual and READ it, good luck
Location: Mexico cityNice one Dennis, happy desmoking, Henrik did you get my mail ?
Location: Mexico cityBC141 should be OK too

Location: Mexico cityHi Frede, I had the same (sold it to Jeff in Canada), probably the US version as I bought it on the US bay only 35 production numbers apart, and the same controller KH
Location: Mexico cityKeep them coming, I like your work, think about chancing the Fairchild (black drop) transistors, Frede, Classic Audio recommend changing them
