They are various threads in the old forum 12-22 and one in the current one you’re reading now about the Century and the IR. None of the solution provide help mine to respond to the remote and I believe so far my IR PCB is dead. Maybe that’s your case too. Unfortunately it seems to be various models of IR board that make it difficult to find a solution.

“Temperamental”, that’s the word: this morning, out of the blue and just unplugging the base from the box, the handset and the base started to chat again. Without any registering procedure or pincode. Landline is up and running again and I wont touch anything anytime soon.

DECT can’t be deactivated.

Is it possible the HS see the base because it can receive data but can’t register the pincode because it’s unable to send data due to faulty RF chip ?

Further investigations:

I tried to register the handset, this time looking carefully to the numbers shown:

I recognized the Beocom base PSTN number > entered 0000 as pincode > got error.

Reset the handset. disconnect the PSTN Base PSU.

Tried to pair with the Internet box:

Saw a different PSTN number > entered the known pincode > Got error again.

Reset the handset, tried again with Beocom PSTN base after it had no power for several minutes. Got same error as above.

In the administration page of my box a DECT1 handset shown briefly.

I believe the handset is faulty like he can see bases but is unable to communicate with them.

Does it make sense?

I wasn’t actually using it daily. It’s more I hate things that dont work when they have too.

It’s a MK1. Ive tried reset and register again. It’s still asking for the pincode, and 0000still doesn’t work.

As for your last suggestion: It’s not easy to do because the actual PSTN base was torn appart.
The pyramid hull has become a charging base for my moded Beocom 6000 bluetooth handset. The internal electronic is in a technical cabinet where it serves as emitter wired to  the phone socket of the Internet box and a second charging base serves as charging base for the 6000 handset.

I can put it all back together but it’s complicated and what I do not understand is how you can manipulate the keyboard when the handset is on its base. I rather not to do that if its not the solution.

I’ve got two 4002 (not 4000’s) and I can’t see what the thrust pads are.

I want to add that one of the BG has a little play in the platter that do not impact playing records.

Can somebody say something relevant about these thrust pads that will not add more haze to the question?

At least one, me and I know I’m not alone.

Why do you still hold your BS9000 in an era of streaming?

Because you have to stream to “something” and in my case, the Beosound 9000. And obviously because ut’s beautiful.

Has your use of the BS9000 changed over the years since streaming came more on the scene?

I got mine after the streaming came.

Do you still love the looks of the BS9000 or has your appreciation faded in the era of mobile devices and does it look odd in a modern living room in post-CD era?

Not at all, still beautiful piece that fit any tasty interior from classic to modern.

I know it’s little bit of too much: Beosound plus Beolab plus Airplay receiver just to receive a simple stream and it is 80% of my use. But sometimes I’m happy to have a standalone music system for radio or CD. And listening to CD’s in random mode with the BS9000 is truly something.

Just my two pfennigs: I have BL4000 MK1 and 8000’s MK1 phase 2 (woofers in parallels).

So far, the 4000’s wins, deep bass, clear meds, brilliant highs. “My” experience with the 8000’s (I repeat: MK1 phase 2 (woofers in parallels)) is disappointing: muddy meds, not that deep bass, average global sound.

BUT!

I’ve replaced the foam inside for better ones (mandatory as the originals will sooner or later make the speaker fail). Didn’t make a point by point comparison since then, but the 8000’s seems to sound a little better (lots of threads says ‘day and night’ but I personally didn’t experience this).

As one member pointed out, and this is what I think when you speak about B&O, there is a compromise on sound, placement, look, and obviously use. Speakers for TV are not the same as speaker for music (main) or music (background). Personally, I’ve never find any elegant solution to use BL4000 as TV  speaker, when you just have to put 8000’s or 6000’s next to your black mirror to make it elegant and  obviously, wild sounding.

So, in a nutshell, depending from where you start and where you want to go:

• 4000’s: very good for music, shelf placement, or along an ouverture or any 2xxx/3xxx Audiomaster.
• 8000’s (with care or chose MK2/not 8002 – MK2 have a bulged dust cap and not a cup one) for TV or music floor standing.
• 6000’s for TV if you’re on a tight budget.
• Maybe 8000’s for booth if you’re not used to whatever high end speakers you love the sound.

Stick 6 of them in corners and middle sides.

And stick metallic “tablets” (don’t know English name…) in the same places on the fret…

Intensive testing for now but si far it holds the fret without vibrations.

Hi Henrik,

I’m starting to figure out I’ve got some sort of Frankenstein’s Beovox:

• Both speakers are P50, but with different serial numbers.
• One fret has P45 badge and holes for the missing pins but the other has P50 badge and no holes in the fret.
• Both speaker, as regular P50, have no holes in the front face.

Luckilly, both sound good enough for my ears and are closer enough in wood shade.

I’m waiting for neodyne magnet to try to keep the fret in place.

Thanks for trying the speaker link driver. Mine are not actually moving, more like “deforming” or “crushing” when you push them. As they seems to sound good or at least not weird, i’ll try to stop focusing on that question. This is where we miss you Dillen!
