Hi Beoworlders,
The Technical Sound Guide for Beosound Theatre has just been published by B&O, many thanks to Geoff Martin for his work on this document and for making us aware of it. You can access this via the link below by scrolling to the “Additions” section at the foot of the page (the document may be updated over time, so this link will always point you to the latest version of the guide):-

Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks Geoff,
I will also add the Technical Sound Guide link to the “sticky” thread that acts as a knowledge base for Theatre users. Grateful for your input as always.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
Yes, I can help! This cable will connect from one of the Powerlink outputs of the Beosound 9000 to the RCA line inputs of your Essence:-
Please set the Beosound 9000 volume to a high level (50-75%) to give you the full range of volume control from the Essence remote.
You then just need a Speaker Sense Adapter for the Beosound (this plugs into the other Powerlink socket on the Beosound 9000 to allow it to accept commands from the B&O remote control without having B&O speakers connected):-
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
Glad you got it sorted. My next step was to find a setup with a 9000 and BL5s in a store to do some testing on, so I’m pleased that you found the right option settings.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
Thanks for your cable purchase. The official B&O wall mount for the Level doesn’t allow for any cable connections (other than USB power via the “puck”), however if you remove the rubber cover from the cable recess and feel inside the top of the recess (with the Level positioned as it would be when hung on a wall), you should find a slot in the top of the recess. This will allow the Level to be hung on a suitably sized countersunk screw, without needing the B&O wall mount.
Your cables should then be able to connect. Please note that you may need to hollow out a small area of the wall surface to allow the cables to run neatly to the Level. This setup is better when the Level will stay in place permanently, while the B&O wall mount allows easy removal of the speaker.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks Steve – all totally clear, and it would be a great setup as described!
Good to see your website back up and running this evening – I hope all is well!
Thanks Guy!
My wife is recovering at home after an unexpected hospital visit so life is slowly returning to normal. Good to be back in the workshop again, I’ve ordered a Beolink Converter to do some testing on all the great ideas from this thread…
(I’m also hoping to use this converter to get my Beogram 3500 visible in the B&O app and maybe even get it working via Siri, but that will be a topic for a new thread once I get my Beolink Converter and my new NL/ML Converter working).
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Guy,
Yes, thanks for correcting my poor description in the video! The IR codes for CD and Phono are different, but any Beogram with Datalink can respond to either the PHONO or CD codes.
This means that on an MCL system such as Beosystem 3500, 4500, 6500 or 7000, you can connect two Beograms to the mains system (one in the PHONO socket and one in the CD socket), plus two more into the local CD and PHONO inputs on the MCL2AV box in a link room.
The link room sources can only play in that room but this does mean that you could potentially have remote control access to up to four Beograms from your bathtub (as in the video) with two in the main room and two in the link room.
If anyone is feeling pedantic, the MCL2AV and extra Beogram for my bathroom are actually located outside the bathroom, with only the passive speakers and the IR remote receiver in the bathroom. This ensures that UK electrical safety rules are complied with!
Hope this helps…
Kind regards, Steve.
Here you have:
Thanks Matador,
Here is a link to a “Dual source” RCA cable that will let you use a “Video source” and an “Audio source” via the Aux input of the Beolink converter (I can supply 3.5mm minijack adapters with the cable on request):-
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Matador,
Ha ha, yes you are right – its a Sony! No wonder I couldn’t get the colours to match up in the video footage they sent to me!
I will stick to my Canon cameras, they haven’t let me down yet 😉
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Matador,
Well spotted! That was actually a spare camera belonging to one of the Noto team, they were taking extra photos and video footage through the day while I was interviewing them. You are quite correct, I would never start an interview with that level of battery life remaining! I always shoot on Canon by the way, that looks like a Nikon…
Have a great new year!
Kind regards, Steve.
Happy Christmas Beofans!
as Stereomensch said, I use Penta 3s in my workshop, along with Beolab 3000 as rear speakers. In my bedroom I have a pair of Emerges, which are linked to the Beosystem 3500 in my living room.
The living room speakers are currently non-B&O, thy are heavily modified Dali Oberon 5 linked to the 3500 system, while I decide which Beolab or Beovox speakers should replace them…
Kind regards Steve
Thanks Yann,
That is a lovely picture! Yes, BeoSanta has been good to me this year!
Have a great Christmas
Wow, what an amazing list of prizes, I am really excited to be one of the winners! Yes, a YouTube review will be coming soon…
A big thank you to Botty for running the draw and congratulations to all the other winners! Happy Christmas to my fellow BeoWorlders as well!
Kind regards Steve

These can be used to activate the majority of Beolab speakers via their Powerlink sockets (full list of compatible speakers can be found on the two links above. Any questions, please ask!
Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks,
That is an interesting point, I hadn’t spotted that before.
We will be focusing on Beolab 90 next week, with a deep dive into the design of this amazing speaker…
Kind regards Steve.
3 December 2022 at 14:47 in reply to: Cabling to use 2 daisy-chained speakers with 2 Receiver 1 units #41253Hi, I’m sorry but I don’t think this will work as each Receiver 1 outputs mono sound to both audio channels from what I remember.
The best option is to cable the speakers to the Theatre if you can as there are currently issues when using Receiver 1 with the Theatre.
Kind regards Steve.
Hi Beoworlders,
It is time to find out what the future holds for Bang & Olufsen speaker design! In my new video, Noto Design explain how a 1970’s design icon has guided their work on modern B&O products…
Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks!
Part 2 launches on Friday this week…
Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks!
Part 2 of the story to follow next week…
Kind regards Steve
Hi Matador,
Yes, today is officially B&O’s 97th birthday!
