    Hi Anastasios and Oli,

Please accept my apologies for not being able to offer any overseas support or shipping at the moment.  I am currently having to take time off work to care for a family member who is unwell and this severely limits the service that I can offer to customers.  Please remember that I am just one person and I get well over a hundred enquiries from all over the world each day so unfortunately I cannot ship to everyone.  I will be happy to continue supporting UK customers with cables and advice.  Thank you for your understanding.

    Kind regards Steve

    Hi Anastasios,

Yes, there seem to be a lot of variants of USB-C to analogue audio adapters, if you have a UK shipping address then I can provide this adapter which does work correctly with the Theatre:-

in reply to: BS theatre, to much bass #44215

    Hi Zwaan,

    Welcome to Beoworld!

First, I suggest you turn off Loudness in the B&O app, then either set bass to -1 and treble to 0, or set bass to 0 and treble to +1. This should give a good sound balance with the Theatre for most setups, then tweak the sound from there to suit your ears and preference.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Thanks matador,

That looks great! I have a spare Moment base unit (the tablet doesn’t work), so I am thinking about using this for streaming, with the Aux input for a Beogram. A cabinet like this could be just right….

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Beosystem 72-97 #34167

    Hi matador,

I love this Beosystem! Which cabinet did you use please? Do you have any pictures with the feet added please?

    kind regards Steve.

in reply to: Connecting Beosound 9000 to Essence? #43033

    Hi Skywalker,

It does depend on the exact setup, but in most cases the sense adapter is still needed if you don’t have Beolab speakers connected directly to the 9000. Without it, the 9000 won’t usually respond to the Beo4 remote control. If yours is working from the remote then that is fine (for example, if you have link rooms connects via Masterlink, that can keep the 9000 working without needing the adapter).

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Powerlink / Speakerlink / Line in to Beolabs #44051

    Hi Dave,

Glad to hear that it arrived safely. Please drop me a message via my website if you need any help getting everything working.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Powerlink / Speakerlink / Line in to Beolabs #44048

    Hi Dave,

Yes, the 9500 was the only system with Powerlink sockets and an RIAA pre-amp built in, as the 9300 system that followed it lost the RIAA pre-amp (this was a rare case of the follow-up having a LOWER model number than the previous model!)

The other systems of the era (Beomaster 3500, 4500, 6500 and 7000) with Powerlink sockets didn’t have RIAA pre-amps, as they relied on the Beogram having a pre-amp built in.

However, earlier systems (5000, 5500 and 9000) without Powerlink all had RCA pre-outs which could be used to connect Beolab speakers, as well as RIAA pre-amps for an older Beogram.

Anything can be connected, but in some cases an external pre-amp or special cable will be needed, which I can help with if required. Hope that helps!

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Powerlink / Speakerlink / Line in to Beolabs #44046

    Hi Dave,

Welcome to Beoworld and thanks for your purchase from my site! Speakerlink (eg. on Beomaster 5500 and Beocenter 9000) is an amplified output which is then reduced down again in the same way that my attenuated converters do. Powerlink (eg. on Beomaster 6500 and Beocenter 9500) is a low level signal taken before amplification, so this is theoretically higher quality when connecting active Beolab speakers (as the signal has not been amplified and then attenuated again). However, either option can high great sound when wired with good cabling.

Please don’t worry that Powerlink cables aren’t as thick as traditional passive speaker wires. As Beolab speakers have their own amplifiers built in, the Powerlink signals don’t need to carry the heavy currents that are required for passive speakers. This means that thinner cables can safely be used without losing signal quality, even over long distances (I suggest 20 metres as a sensible limit).

Also worth noting is that some systems (eg. Beomaster 5000, 5500, Beocenter 9000) have RCA pre-out sockets, which are also un-amplified and volume controlled, similar to Powerlink. These can be used to connect Beolab speakers, once the speakers are set to “Line” mode.

Finally, Beolab 4000 comes in two versions, mk.1 speakers have a separate RCA line input for use with a non-B&O system or early B&O system without Powerlink, whereas the mk.2 versions use their Powerlink sockets to connect when in Line mode. You can tell mk.1 speakers as they have a power button on the front of the speaker, while mk.2 speakers don’t have this. I can help with cables for either option!

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: The Prize Draw – Thoughts Please… #43885

    Hi Lee and Keith,

As the sole remaining sponsor of the site, may I also put on record my thanks to you both for all you do and have done to keep this amazing B&O community resource alive. I greatly enjoy my regular online chats with other Beoworlders about all things B&O and it has been a true pleasure to meet some of the B&O community in real life whilst on my travels.

I agree that the Beoworld community and membership has changed enormously in the 14 years that I have sponsored this site and I think this is largely due to the changes in B&O that Lee mentioned. I want to stay supporting this site for many years to come, so I think it is very wise to have this discussion now in the hope that Beoworld can find a way to grow going forward.

As a past prize draw winner, I confess to being very excited about the draws and the chance to win interesting B&O goodies, but if this risks driving Beoworld out of existence then it needs a re-think. Lee has done a brilliant job finding, funding and presenting the draws for many years, but this does need to be something that the site itself can support.

I would be happy to continue supporting the site, both as a gold member and as a sponsor, if the prize draws aren’t able to continue (or if they are reduced). However, I would welcome views from other members so that we can see the wider view.

Thanks again to Lee, Keith and to all the Beoworlders who make this site such a great community!

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: What ? does this mean? #43742

    Hi MM,

I have left a note for Keith to make him aware of this, I suspect it should be fairly straightforward to fix.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Replacement Beogram power and signal cables #43711

    Hi bulldog123,

It is the two blue adapter cables that I supply to B&O for the Beogram 4000c, not the fabric braided cable. These allow the Beogram to connect to any B&O multi-room smart speaker, or to a non-B&O music system.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Replacement Beogram power and signal cables #43708

    Hi Christian,

Yes, I made the cables that are supplied by B&O with all Beogram 4000c turntables, these cables are hand built and tested in my UK workshop. They are listed on my website at my sponsor link below. Please search for “Beogram” to see these cables.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    in reply to: B&O at ISE 2023 ? #43498

    Hi,

I think a lot of major companies pulled out of ISE since it left Amsterdam RAI a couple of years ago. It seems to have become more focused on Spanish businesses since moving to Barcelona. B&O were exhibiting at ISE back in 2020 but I haven’t seen them there since.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Beosound Emerge Stereo Pair #43436

    Hi MusicMan,

Yes, I have stereo paired Emerges in my bedroom after starting with just one speaker (these replaced Beolab 4s, with CX100 and CX50 before them). The speakers are spread wide apart, each one is in a room corner as this seems to give the best sound. I absolutely love the sound and I have heard virtually every speaker that B&O has made in the past 30 years!

For music listening at low to medium levels (eg. up to 70dB) in a quiet room, I don’t think any other B&O speaker new or old can match them for their tonal balance. If you need your music louder than that (you can check this with a free Sound Pressure Level app on a phone) then other speakers will perform better than the Emerge as the volume level increases.

Two Emerges give more than double the enjoyment compared to one Emerge in my view. I use them with the Loudness setting turned on, as this gives the best sound to my ears.

    Hope this helps,

    Steve.

in reply to: Beolab 5 sync Cable #43365

    Hi MMC,

The sync cable is specially wired, so a regular 3.5mm minijack cable won’t work. However, this is rarely needed.

Its aim is to keep the speakers at a matched volume level when using the line input, but they won’t normally require this unless one speaker is hidden out of sight from the remote control (and I don’t advise this anyway as it would spoil the sound!)

If you really want a Sync cable then I can make one for you via my sponsor link below, but they are rarely needed.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: 5v trigger from ??? #43371

    Hi roycke,

    Welcome to Beoworld!

I suggest using a separate mains-derived trigger instead of the USB or HDMI signals, this way you have easy control of the trigger signal and there are no annoying pops and clicks through the audio when the trigger voltage changes (as it often does when using USB):-

in reply to: Beolab 11 –> Connect to Non B&O source? #43306

    Hi sprockett,

Yes, you can set the Beolab 11 to “Line” mode via the selector switch and it will turn on and off automatically when the sound plays. Please use this cable to link the Beolab 11 to an amplifier or receiver with volume controlled RCA pre-out sockets (I apologise that this link will only work for UK visitors at the moment):-

    https://soundsheavenly.com/beolab/130-2191-stereo-rca-twin-phono-to-beolab-11-cable.html#/5-length-5m

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi matapan,

Welcome to Beoworld! Yes, this is popular and easy to set up.

The best option if you have a non-B&O TV and multiple speakers is to connect the speakers to either Beosound Theatre, or to a non-B&O AV receiver with RCA pre-out sockets fitted. I would suggest looking at the Marantz Cinema 70S or NR1711, Pioneer SC-LX59, Denon AVC-X3700H, Yamaha RX-A880 or RX-V785 AV processors/receivers, all of which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup.

Your Beosound system can then connect to the CD input of the AV receiver to play to the speakers, plus you have surround sound when using the TV.

Please ask at my sponsor link below if you need specific help with connections for your setup.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Connecting Beosound 9000 to Essence? #43031

    Hi Stan,

Using Powerlink as the output gives you the option of either using the B&O remote for volume adjustment or using the external device, whereas the Aux output is fixed so the B&O remote cannot be used for volume control.

This also leaves the Aux socket free to connect an extra music source if required.

Additionally, the same cable works as an input to the Aux socket as well as an output from the Powerlink socket, so this helps to avoid the need to purchase two different cables for many users.

There is no difference in sound quality either way.

    Kind regards, Steve.
