For me the Beosound 5 encore is the worst value for money, it was already abandoned when it hit the market.
Mine still has the factory firmware from 2011, never had an update.

So when I use it is on my guest network so that it doesn’t compromise my regular network

It only plays Beoradio and the music from my Synology NAS, no Deezer, Spotify or Tidal.

And I can connect a Chromecast Audio dongle to it and tuck it away behind it.

But I really like the looks and operation thru the wheels and lever, I never used a remote control with it.

It is beautifully made, but the software is so bad.

The Portal has thicker cushions as the HX, wich might be more comfy.

I think it indeed depends on what format each radiostation is broadcasting in.

For example the radiostation Soulradio has the following broadcast url’s;

We don’t know wich url B&O radio and Tunein are using to put through

But one could assume that B&O uses a higher quality stream if it it availlable.

I saw in the release notes that it would play Beoradio on bluetooth products.

But I did not got it working.

No way I’d buy a GVA speaker.

I don’t want speakers that are listening 24/7 what is going on in the house.

Just like many people

There’s a switch at the bottom to turn off the microphone, but then the software is still there.

Nothing against stretching my arm to turn a volume wheel or touch a preset button.

That’s just the charm of having a Beosound 5, 9000, Moment, Beogram etc. to operate it on the device itself.
