    Thanks MM,

Yes, that is the correct RJ45 PUC cable for the Theatre!

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi Guy,

Thanks for spotting my “deliberate” mistake! Yes, the Theatre uses an RJ45 connection for the IR PUC controller, I just couldn’t find the right version of the cable in time for the video… I tried to hide the 3.5mm plug on the cable I had, but it slipped into shot. I have more of the correct RJ45 to twin IR PUC cables on the way.

    Hi Frank,

Beosound 3000 doesn’t need the speaker sense adapter, this is just needed for Beosound 9000 and Beocenter 2, as these units revert to option 0 (no remote control reception) when Beolab speakers aren’t connected.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi Beoworlders,

May I present: “How to connect absolutely ANYTHING to Beosound Theatre – the ultimate connection guide!”

    Thanks Beojeff,

I’m looking into cable management options, but so far the indications are that many people are looking to have the TV mounted directly onto the Theatre, so cabling can be kept tidy within the stand assembly.

Yes, the shielded RJ45 coupler is a good option for extending cables, this is small and easy to hide. As my one-piece RJ45 to male Powerlink cables start at 1.8m, the popular option for connecting an older Beolab speaker with a Receiver 1 is (as you mentioned) using a 0.1m RJ45 to female Powerlink adapter, plus a 0.5m Powerlink mk.3 cable. So far there haven’t been enough requests for the shorter one-piece RJ45 to male Powerlink cable to justify a production run, but I am actively monitoring this.

I’m working on the connections video this week, I will update on this thread once it is ready. Thanks again for your input!

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Connect Beomaster 7000 to SONOS #38977

    Hi,

This is the cable you need, it connects to either the Tape 1 or Tape 2 socket of the Beomaster to give you 2-way music between the B&O and the Sonos systems (please note that this link won’t work until Monday morning, as my site is closed for maintenance today):-

Please ask if you need any further help!

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Thanks Peter and L1no,

Yes, these options will work.  Beolab speakers are always best, as the Theatre has the sound signature (magnitude and phase response) of all Beolab speakers back to the original Pentas coded into it.  This allows it to actually improve the sound of these speakers when they are plugged into the Theatre, by removing some of their design issues.  This also shares the bass between all speakers according to their capability, which makes for a VERY powerful system once Beolab speakers are added.

Passive speakers (eg. Celestial, Palatial, or other brands) can be used along with a power amplifier, but you will lose this extra ability to share bass.  I will cover all these options in the next video in a few days time.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi Beoworlders,

If you are considering buying the new Beosound Theatre, please can you let me know which audio products you would want to use it with?

    Query

This could be an existing Beosound music system, a Beogram turntable, non-B&O speakers, or something completely different… I will then cover how to make all the connections in my next YouTube video.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi,

If I recall correctly, this link should allow you to browse most of the technical papers submitted by B&O team members that are in the public domain:-

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: New product launch – beosound theatre? #37289

    Hi Sandyb,

Yes, that is correct. However, it is worth noting that the B&O website and spec sheet are incorrect as the Theatre has 4 wired Powerlink ports (RJ45), not 8 as quoted.

    Kind regards, Steve.

    Hi,

Yes, there is an analogue audio input via the USB-C port, this needs an adapter from B&O (part number 6271374).

This cable will connect from one of the Powerlink outputs of the Beosound 9000 or Beocenter 9300 to the 3.5mm line adapter:-

    https://soundsheavenly.com/televisions/158-2365-powerlink-to-beovision-14-harmony-eclipse-horizon-avant-ng-2017-on-cable-link-your-audio-system-to-your-new-tv.html#/2-length-1m

Please set the Beosound/Beocenter volume to a high level (50-75%) to give you the full range of volume control from the TV remote or B&O app.

You then just need a Speaker Sense Adapter for the Beosound 9000 (this plugs into the other Powerlink socket on the Beosound 9000 to allow it to accept commands from the B&O remote control without having B&O speakers connected):-

    Hi Beoworlders,

The long awaited Beosound Theatre is here! This video explains why all existing B&O TV owners need to hear it…

    Hi,
If you previously used Beolab 5 on these round 8 pin cables then they will be fine for Beolab 28, you just need adapters like these to convert them to RJ45 for the new speakers:-

in reply to: Beomaster 3500 and Beosound 8000 #38611

    Hi slindhard,

Welcome to Beoworld! Please can you clarify what the “Beosound 8000” is, as I haven’t heard of this? Do you mean the Beosound 9000 6xCD player or the Beolab 8000 pencil speakers please?

I can then help you to connect this to the Beomaster 3500 (flat tuner/amplifier with grey top panel) once this is known.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Beolab 8000 + Beolab 2 connect to Amp #37209

    Hi,

You can use trigger cables to activate just about any Beolab speakers (with a few excpetions such as Beolab 5), but they are needed for Beolab 2, 2500, 7-x and 10 speakers which don’t have a line input option. They can also be used with speakers such as Beolab 8000 to force the speakers to remain on instead of having them click on and off when the sound plays (this is often an issue when using them as rear surround speakers).

I use a separate mains-derived trigger signal in my cables rather than USB, as the USB power rails in many audio products can be electrically noisy, causing unwanted pops and bangs to be heard through the speakers. I don’t advise ever using 12v outputs from an amplifier or receiver to trigger Beolab speakers, as all of the receiver manufacturers that I spoke to said that doing this would void their product warranty and one said that this could potentially cause an equipment fault.

Please feel free to get in touch via my sponsor link below with any specific questions. I can usually get these speakers working well with any model of amplifier, please let me know the full model number of the amp and I can help further.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: BeoLab 2: how to switch on without 5 volt trigger? #37146

    Hi Guy,

Yes, my cables are manually controlled, although there is nothing to stop you from using this as part of an automated process or within a home automation system if you wish. I get lots of requests to use these cables to force rear surround speakers (eg. Beolab 6000) to remain on instead of clicking on and off when the sound plays to the rear channels, hence the use of manual control in the trigger cables.

    Kind regards, Steve.

in reply to: Wiring latest Beoosund speakers #37100

    Hi

Sorry for the brief reply as I am working overseas for a few days and responding on a tiny phone screen.

Cabling the speakers is usually the best option for a reliable connection, the key is to get the Ethernet connection to your router in place via Cat cables.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me via the link below with the full details of your setup and I will be happy to help further via email.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Kind regards Steve.

in reply to: Beosound Edge , Google home required? #37003

    Thanks MM,

That is helpful. I also use a similar process to set up my B&O Mozart speakers (Level and Emerge) without Google. After going through the B&O setup in the app, the app transfers you to the Google app to continue the Google setup. At this point, I stop the setup and the speakers work correctly without Google activated.

As long as you turn off the microphone on the speakers after room compensation is done and turn off automatic updates in the B&O app, the speaker then behaves completely as a non-GVA (Google Voice Assist) version, with the exception that the Line input cannot be cast to other speakers as you mentioned in your post.

Turning off the microphone prevents the speaker from announcing “Your speaker isn’t set up yet” when you have a conversation with a human being in the same room. Turning off the software updates prevents the speaker from shouting “Just so you know, your microphone is muted” at 1am when the automatic software updates are rolled out (don’t ask me how I know about this one! :-O

While there is a non-GVA version of each speaker produced, availability is often limited and I couldn’t get hold of either speaker in a non-Google version until well after the launch dates. These tweaks should help to make the speakers less Google dependent..

    Kind regards, Steve.
