Received my BCC today. Connected my 1s to it and am very happy with it. Have been able to play my BS3000 and BS5 through it via a converter. To my ears, the 1s sound better. The imaging is better and they now seem to disappear in the way I have noticed newer BLs to.
I’m looking forward to your first impressions!
Dealer received his stock and shipped my Core to me today ?
Thanks! I will consider another converter. Today I connected the BS5 to line in on a Core. That does allow it to be distributed to all products, Mozart included. Of course can only control it in the room where it is located.
What sort of control do you have the BS 5 with that option?
Connecting the BeoSound 5 to the Line In on the converter works fine, with one exception. I can not join Mozart products, only older NL products. What makes it weird is I can join my BS3000 through the converter to Mozart products.
I have Beconnect Core ordered. I am sure if I connect the BS5 to the line in on it, it will all work. I will probably try it although the intended use for the BCC is to use with my BL1s.Thanks! Your thoughts are just what I had come up with experimenting and looking at the manual.
I am not connecting it by ML for two reasons. First, I have a Beosound 3000 connected by ML but it does not have the newer software chip to function well with a BS5 also connected. Have spent many hours trying to get both to work together well. The BS3000 would need a new chip with Option 5. Second, having N Music available both from NL and Mozart products and the BS 5, I thought might cause problems…..although as I type this it occurs to me I could rename N. Music on the BS5 as well as N. Radio. The BS 5 has pretty much been a wall decoration for years. If connected with Line In I can at least feel like it is functioning part of the system and listen to the music stored on it occasionally if I want to.Had a typo in my reply. 9s as rears, not 20s. I did not feel like it was much of downgrade, if any at all, in my room. It reminded me of years ago when I had the 9s in front. Dealer brought me a pair of 5s to try. I was allowed to try them for a few weeks. I sent them back as my conclusion was that while the 5s sounded “different” than the 9s, I could not say that in my house, to my ears, the 5s sounded “better”. I would describe 28s/50s the same.
The 50s definitely have tighter more precise bass at loud levels. But whenever I start to think I should have kept the 50s, I realize how much better the 28s look in my room, remember how I always wondered/worried if close side walls and furniture were diminishing the benefit of the 50s side facing drivers, and think that perhaps the biggest reason I might miss them is just the ego factor, of saying I have 50s. I have really never thought about the difference adding the 28s to the Theatre creates as I had the 28s before the Theatre. If I am watching generic TV, or YouTubes, I only have the Theatre on. For movies and other things with good sound, I have the added speakers on. For music, sometimes I just turn the 28s on. Other times I have the Theatre driving the 28s with 9s set as subwoofers.
That is a hard question to answer. I had 50s connected to my BV7. I traded them in on 28s which are now connected to a Theatre. I found the 50s a bit large for my space visually. I also felt that I was not getting the full benefit of them given my space. They were against a wall with side walls nearby each. I much prefer how the 28s look in my room. Only at louder volumes than I ever listen to do I ever wonder if I should have kept the 50s. I have 9s as rears.
Dealer says my BCC should arrive this coming week. ?
In the US the BCC is only $50, less than 5%, more than the Core. For that minimal price increase one receives the updated Mozart technology with all of the sound adjustments it offers in a form factor that appears to be better quality.
According to the following link, yes, the Essence remote works with it.I have no plans to use the HDMI. Currently my 1s are connected to a BV10 and I listen to music on them through a BL/NL converter. I want the same app control of them that I have elsewhere in my house in other speakers. Am simply going to disconnect the 1s from the 10 and use them for music only.
I ordered one yesterday. Looks like just what I have been wanting to use with my 1s. For what it is designed to be, it is perfect for what I want it for. Does everything an Essence or Core would but has the newer Mozart sound adjustments just as my 28s and Theatre have. And, minimal price increase over the Core and better design if I want to leave it out in the open.
Thanks for the input! Much appreciated.
I received an email from my dealer in the USA offering 90s, 50s, 28s, and 8s at 10% off.
Thanks for the detailed comments. I have a Theatre with 28s and 9s as the rears. Was going to trade the 9s in on 8s. But after disconnecting them and installing 4000s temporarily I missed the bass of the 9s. Decided to keep them. I have the 9s set as subwoofers in the Theatre when listening to music on the 28s.
Still contemplating a pair of 8s to add to the system.
How would you compare a pair of 8s for music to a pair of 28s?
Thanks for the comments about the the 8s, 28s and Theatre. I have a pair of 8s ordered to be used as rears with my Theatre and 28. Will be replacing the 9s I am currently using as rears. I want the added height of the 8s and to match the 28s visually. Never thought of moving the 28s to the rear. Do plan to keep them in the front as I like the way they look and am guessing I will prefer them for music as opposed to the 8s.
I believe so. I have Beolab 9s connected to R1s and was able to select 9s in the menu. However, I am not sure if it has been fixed in just the Beta releases or if the regular releases have it now also.
The pairing should remain wherever you move the BR1 but that does not mean it will still be connected. If you move the BR1 too far away it will not work. However, once you return it to the same room, or general area where it has worked before, the pairing will remain and it will work again. By way of example, I have a pair of Emerges in my office at work. I have a BR1 paired with them. A coworker asked about the BR1. I took it with me to a connected building and a different floor. That was much too far away for it to connect to and control the Emerges. But upon returning the BR1 to my office, the Bluetooth pairing was intact and I could control the Emerges. In my house I have three BR1s. I keep one in each of three different rooms. If I take one to another room, that will get it out of range and it will not control the paired products until I return it to the room, in range. The Halo connects by Wi-Fi so it can control B and O products on the same network regardless of distance.
To pair using the app (iOS in my case): From the Home Screen touch the person icon (that is what it looks like to me) at the top right….then touch settings…then Products….then select your Emerge…..the next step might be slightly different as my Emerges are at work so I am looking at my Theatre, BL28s, and M5 and they are slightly different…once you are on your Emerge’s page….there should be threes dots at the top right….touch those….one of the options will be Beoremote …select that…if your BR1 is already paired it will show it. You can touch on it and will get options for remotes list and unpair. As you are having problems you might want to unpair. Also on the Beoremote page you will see and option to pair a new Beoremote….touch it and then touch the Pair Remote option that will appear. Also, go through the settings on the BR1 to select open for pairing. Settings….Pairing….Pair….open for Pairing.Bluetooth is the correct and only way to pair the BR1. But, you can pair it by Bluetooth using the app. It will not list the BR1 but rather will give you an option to pair a new remote in the settings menu for the Emerge.
