        Hi,

Im a bit rusty on BS5 settings with ML TVs. Hopefully this will give you pointers to self-diagnose.

        1. BeoSound 5 / Beomaster 5

          Connection Audio

BeoSound 5 can be placed in a setup, where either BS9000, BC2, BC2AO,

BS3200 or BS4 is used as audiomaster and BeoSound 5 is used

          for N.MUSIC and N.RADIO.

Audiomaster YES/NO on BeoSound 5 must be set to NO in this setup.

This will disable OPTIONS setting for the BeoSound 5.

The OPTION setting, referred to in this conclusion refers to

          the Audiomaster.

Selecting option on the audio master

          Option:  AUTO configurating (option 0)

          ********************* AUDIO/VIDEO/LINK SYSTEM SETUP *******************

          Connection

Connect the Master Link socket of the audiomaster to the MASTER LINK

socket of the TV-set using a BeoLink cable.

********************* REMOTE CONTROL FOR MAIN ROOM ********************

The recommended remote control is Beo4

The following remote controls may also be used:

          Beo5

          Setup for Beo4 remote control:

Beo4’s “LIST” must contain the following items in order to be able

to operate the Main Room products.

        2. You will not see the BS5 on the TV. However, you will get Beomaster5 contents on N.Music or N.Radio
        3. Connect Beolabs to the TV PL outputs and not the BS5

This is good fun……80’s rock on Amazon HD, like MOTs but not MOTs.

Speculation…I wonder if they are attempting to make an Android phone/PC DAC Dongle – like the Audioquest Dragon Fly but with Bluetooth compatibility (that sentence though makes little sense of a HiRes DAC leading to lowRes BT transmission unless they have a new standard coming out).

              Interesting.

When using my BL90s in “Audio” mode i.e. attached via XLR to my Auralic system (i.e. not controlled by a Beovision), I use the “BeoEye” IR receiver and an Essence Remote in IR mode. It works but is a little clunky and insensitive to volume control.

It will be interesting to see what the functionality of the Halo will be – whether it just uses IR or is true WiFi/BT control? Perhaps the more important aspect is the control of the BL90 being threshold triggered on/off by the Halo to enable instant switching from the Auralic to Beovision ecosystem?

Further, if the BL90 is getting Wifi/BT control (no sign in the BL90 firmware yet), then does that extend to BR1 being updated?

              Interesting

                MaxH,

Glad you are optimistic. I am just being realistic I feel.

I too watch the watch markets with a relatively good collection. Unfortunately, the forums like this for Rolex, AP, PP more lately VC are full of idiots who think it is great that their 3 year old £5k Sub is now £12k.  I feel that they are basically speculating by either putting their disposable cash (or even borrowing) and wanting and un-earned return – except they dont sell, thinking they will get an extra £x k before they consider selling.

Great I say……Hope they do. However, there may come a time when everyone dumps there SS Rolexes onto the market all at the same time and……

I think they call this tulip mania.

Further, I could go on about the Dealers. Sure there is making hay while the sun shines but there are so many Authorised Dealers now who are either quietly trying to bundle or insist you have a good six-figure spend to be “moved up the list”

I don’t mind the capitalist bit – in fact I embrace it. I just don’t like the snobbery and snootiness of those who forget 5 years ago……shifting £10k and plus plus watches (especially stainless steel ones) was a rare event normally reserved for city boys getting their annual bonus.

As mentioned in another forum….I stated that I will wait patiently on the side for another 6-12 months until I spot the AD in an overcoat trying to shift gear on the street corner for cents on the dollar.

It has happened before…and it will happen again.

I think the report/presentation is generous and time-sensitive. I see a number of key fundamentals which will hurt all/every business (excluding arms manufacturers perhaps?):-

                  1. Interest rates will rise dramatically. This will hurt B&Os efforts in recent years to re-finance
                  2. They may have reduced ability for additional borrowing facilities (Cashflow is collapsing)
                  3. Non-staged sales. Millenials will have a lot less disposable in 2022/23
                  4. Overall, can see a compounding of UK outlook, disposable income with Sales hit
                  5. Can expect to see a compounding of German outlook, disposable income with Sales hit
                  6. Raw materials (particularly Aluminium, Nickel and polymers) price increase as western currencies devalue.

Going to get me a pair in glossy white.

Wonder if anyone will think I’ve got a pair of cheap knock-off EarPods?

For me, I am familiar enough with the B&O product range to buy on-spec should I need.

I had extensive listening of the BL90 before committing to purchase.

I have purchased an Eclipse 65 Mk1 with a Dealer I have done plenty of business with – even though not the nearest Dealer to my home and had it delivered. (Self setup). I had seen the Eclipse model before purchasing remotely.

I have also purchased smaller items (say an A6), from other Dealers across the country without hearing or seeing the product beforehand.

I think value for money is a matter of perspective.

I’ve purchased plenty of tatt (the MP3 Player Beosound 2 for instance). Beolab4s. They all have had degrees of good/bad value about them. I guess if you use them and not worry about the latest thing, they work out as well-used products that do a job and fulfil a need.

I do have concern over my Eclipse 65 MK1. I baulk at the thought of having to replace the whole thing if the panel fails.

You could also include the Beolab90. These are fantastic loudspeakers (I can barely listen to Beolab 3s in the office as their sound is so poor). These were purchased when affordability was easy (and still can be for me fortunately). However, one does worry of the cost of repair should these things start to fail. Mine now have just had their 6th birthday.

My view is that B&O as we know it now will be gone for good in 6 to 12 months.

This is plainly out of the current financial wave about to hit us all.  (I wrote about this a couple of months ago – before the current “conflict” which is not to blame but certainly an accelerant).

B&O will be a brand in name only – like Rolls Royce Motorcars was once and the name sold. A new set of products may emerge under new ownership but it will be detached from its current 95-96 year manufacturing history.

Sorry I cannot foresee a better outcome to all.

From a historical perspective, https://beocentral.com/ is perhaps the best site – however, it has not been fully updated of all products for the last few years.

Some products with colour variations or MK1 or Mk2 may be lacking in the newer products (Beoplay, headphones etc). However, that can be cross references with B&O’s official site for anything missing.

Edit: I would also add that the accessories – both Beocentral and Bang&Olufsen will be difficult to track down without a Service Engineer or a good Dealer as these were normally sold under the radar with Customers wanting more specialised and complicated “around the House AV” Setups.

I use quite an aging Xytel Multy X “mesh” system. 3 nodes from my Wifi Modem/router.

I see two networks broadcasted – one is the original Wifi Router Modem and the other is the designated name from the Multy master (which one unit is hard wired connected to the Modem/Router). All the Multy X broadcast the same wifi ID.

I connect all devices to the Multy X Wifi ID. All works perfectly and continuously across 3 floors and a stairwell.

I feel you need to configure your Mesh system to a similar setup. If you are using a number of old Routers (non-mesh), it is possible to get them in relay mode toggling the internal configuration. However, the BeoApp to me would not be the source of your problem here.
