Same problem with my Harmony …
Location: France ??What I understood is that wide and narrow (for BL50) is a completely different behavior for the speakers (thanks to dsp), like having 2 different pairs of speakers.
So I run a room compensation with narrow selected and 3 points closely spaced (one chair no friends). This is for critical listening
And I run another room compensation with wide selected and 3 points “around my sofa” as explained by Geoff. This is for sharing music or a movie with my family.
Location: France ??Did the same and the battery never came back …
Location: France ??And watch the video done by Geoff Martin for BL90 calibration and you will be more than happy ?
Location: France ??And you need this
Amazon Basics Pied de microphone avec perche https://amzn.eu/d/3ZD4sk4
Location: France ??Hi ! This is not the microphone calibrated for BL50
ask your dealer to order the right one (same for BL90 and BL50)
Location: France ??My BL50 sound far far more better with Room Eq
(my room is treated with GIK free standing bass traps and my source is Wattson Madison streamer DAC / rca )
Edit : I am sorry I just wrote the contrary of my thoughts, of course ROOM compensation help a lot but it’s icing on the cake after a good (perfect?) speaker placement and a room passive treatment
Location: France ??… and with a Bang & Olufsen set up, the wooden slats prevent the scratches ?
Location: France ??Wow ! Your cat is so cute !!!!
Location: France ??Beolab 50 fronts
Beolab 17 surround
Beovision Harmony
Location: France ??Hi, after the wise advice of Mr10Percent, I use an external streamer / DAC , the Wattson Madison connected with RCA cables on my BL50.
With Harmony as a streamer (chromecast, airplay…) the sound was cold and weak in comparison with the sound of the Wattson Madison (very very analog sound)
It’s night and day, I discover how these speakers are capable.
Now they sound so good … The midrange is rich and expressive, the bass fascinating, and the high frequencies silky smooth
Location: France ??Thank you so much for your expertise, I read with great pleasure and attention all your posts, your knowledge is extremely beneficial and pertinent.
Location: France ??Very interesting! As a BL50 owner I would like to know which streamer do you use (BL50/90 owners) to bypass Theater / Eclipse / Harmony ?
It was counter intuitive for me to introduce another DAC in the loop but it seems that a lot of people benefit from an analog connexion to BL50/90 ?
Does the BSCore do the same ? Or I guess you have to go for a high level streamer ?
thank you for your help ?
Location: France ??The most interesting would be the speakers Phase integration to improve bass management and perhaps an hardware upgrade for Atmos processing … of course we’re not talking about adding upfiring speakers to Harmony ?
Location: France ??I think it would be a popular upgrade ! Sign me in 😉
Location: France ??Bonjour à tous !
Je suis nouveau venu sur le forum, fan de B&O et de mes beolab 50 que je commence à connaître pas mal au niveau réglages et mise en œuvre. À très bientôt
Location: France ??Mine (BL 17) were always on and off (green dot red dot green dot red dot and so on and so on ) until I wired them. A scan performed by the B&O tech showed too much 5 GHz networks around …
Location: France ??BL17 are wonderful speakers but they definitely don’t work properly wirelessly. Since mine are wired, everything ok …
Location: France ??For my set up (Beolab 50), Apple Music was a big improvement.
With lossless sound, you improve (by far) the dynamics (coming from Spotify family).
Dynamics are in my opinion the most important , then the sound quality (definition) improve a lot bass clarity and … definition.
Since several days, we can find online some infos about a Spotify Platinum (HiFi) plan. How will it be implemented in B&O stuffs… that’s another question…
