Some prizes seem too good to put into use……. they’re collector pieces.

Radio Paradise is funded  entirely on voluntary subscriptions. Twice (?) a year they appeal for funds via the broadcasts, and by emailing registered or previous subscribers. It’s a model that has worked for them for about 15 years, but they do keep adding to their methods of streaming.

Maybe Beoworld can make a twice a year funding appeal in addition to existing subscriptions.

                Hi Lee,
Difficult. I suspect that many who buy new high end B&O don’t come here these days.

The site is useful for repair or compatibility issues for older products.

The old humour – camaraderie has gone from the site, due to members who haven’t renewed, but also from a period when any off-topic humour seemed not to be tolerated….. which was overcome by the old Wednesday evening Wedthred. Present day ‘Wokeness’ probably now makes much comment even less tolerable.

Keep the forum going. Seek out dealer sponsorship, or small commission fees for dealer links. Make the draw only once a year around Christmas.

And why not invite all old members back to a formal site relaunch with a discount offer for gold or silver subscriptions (direct debit or continuing credit card renewing automatically after one year at the full rate?)

My ancient S45s (sim S45.2) give outstanding performance with crystal clear trebles and deep base.
A BS8 gives great performance (almost as good as the S45’s and remarkable for the size) either via a mk2 iPad or streaming via Chromecast. Lack of stereo separation  is the only drawback of this speaker pair, but stereo seems to be out of fashion these days.

I still have a pair of Beovox 2600’s which were a great match for the 1200 Beomaster.

The Beovox speakers were often a bit on the big side, but can still match many active speakers without the use of a sub.

I tried sending audio from my Beogram to Chromecast connected speakers via Wi-Fi. This supposedly works using a Beringher module and an old android phone with an app called Vinylcast.  Despite all the successes reported online, I could not get the configuration to work.

Not quite the comparison asked for here, but if I stream  radio to my BV11 active speakers, the sound seems slightly sharper than streaming via either a Beomaster 2000 or Olive 1 to Beovox S45’s. Of course this may reflect nothing more than the low frequency capability of the S45’s.

If you think of the BV10 or 11 etc, arguably the cheaper component was always the tv screen itself. As TV’s are now relatively cheap, adding a TV to the BS theatre produces a combined product at about the same price as those previous Beovisions, and at least you should be able to upgrade the screen from time to time without replacing the sound bar.

                        Graham

PS. But I will stick with the BV11 as my main TV!

This is the product that B&O should have produced 5-10 years ago. Price is a problem going forward, especially as discretionary spending is going to be hit by the economic crisis.

Answered by the end of MMs video. Attachment is not a slot but a drop in stand with rear attachment for the screen.

Could do with a bit more detail on how the tv screen slots in. How stable will the screen support be on the motorised wall hinge version?

Had a similar problem with my BV 11 pictures posted to Beoworld some years ago, showing how to route the hidden cables from the wall to the hinge area.

A dealer had the nerve to use one picture suggesting it was his own installation. I can’t find it again……. presumably they’ve moved on from installing BV11’s.

1203 radial turntable. Mine’s from 1973 ish. Beefier looking arm than later models, but with SP14 it’s somehow very futuristic looking, even 50 years on.

Average price per tile £500? So that’s a £40K investment, and much of the sound well above head height (unless there’s a mezzanine, (from which the photo was taken?))

It would be interesting to hear just what has been installed and how effective it is.

I’m inclined to agree with Mr 10%. Look at a clothing retailers recent history for comparison. Brooks Bros were, at 200 years old, the oldest prestigious US tailor. They got into financial trouble and were bought out by an Italian gentleman who used high quality Italian fabrics but quietly moved manufacturing to China. There are several Savile Row tailors doing the same.

Tastes changed and the demand for suits collapsed. Stores closed. Stock was sold off. Last year you could get a £1500 Brooks Bros suit at Tkmaxx for £75.

Covid has wrecked many markets, including formal wear for the office. Is there a relevant comparison for B&O? Financial difficulties, Chinese manufacturing to reduce costs… Both Brooks and B&O have traded on long long established reputations, but you can only do that for so long. And as stated by 10%, there’s a terrible financial wave about to hit…. a wave that will kill all non essential purchases.
