Yes, it is easy to connect the Beolab 7-2 to a Core, you just need this cable:-

Yes, this is possible! Please use this cable to add the Core to the Tape input of the Beomaster 3000:-

Although your Beomaster 3000 receiver doesn’t have Powerlink sockets fitted, you can still connect the Beolab 6000 speakers by one of the two methods below:-

Although your Denon receiver doesn’t have RCA pre-out sockets fitted, , you can still connect the speakers by one of the two methods below:-

The converter above (option 2) will give better sound quality than using the Speakerlink input of the Pentas (which are basically doing the same job of attenuating the speaker level signal). However, the best option of all is to upgrade the receiver to one that has RCA pre-out sockets fitted, as this gives the best sound quality and makes it easier to add more speakers in the future.

Ideally, I would suggest looking at the Pioneer SC-LX59, Denon AVC-X3700H, Yamaha RX-A880 or RX-V785 AV processors/receivers, all of which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup.

Hi Matador,

In theory, yes this could work, as long as you don’t have any other speakers. However, it isn’t ideal and I would suggest that there are much better options such as Beolab 7-1, 7-2 or 7-6 depending on the TV screen size.

Beolab 3500 is a very poor performer compared to other Beolab speakers of its era, with little bass output and treble that isn’t optimal for TV dialogue. Connection would be via Masterlink, so the speaker would only get a stereo downmix (not true front or centre channels). Control would rely on both the TV and the speaker receiving remote control signals at the same time, so some issues may arise when trying to operate it, change volume, etc.

Oooh, great thread!

My Beosystem 3500 has been my “daily driver” for nearly two decades and I love it! I can’t see that ever leaving (I already have a stock of replacement parts ready “just in case”!)

If I can ever find a really nice 1970s Beocenter 3300 then I would also keep that, as I had one as a teenager and have always wanted another one.

I also suspect that Penta mk.3 will always have to feature in my life unless B&O can come up with a modern replacement…

I’m really excited about this!  I did supply the adapter cables for Beogram 4000c to B&O and it has been an honour to be able to support them with their Classics programme.

Hi Kiran,

I have just sent you a full reply to your email, but basically I suggest using the Powerlink outputs of the 7000 instead of the Line socket, this generally works better as you have the option of adjusting volume from the Beo4 or the B&O app when switching sources on the 7000 (eg. as the Beogram is usually a bit quieter than other sources).

This cable will connect from one of the Powerlink outputs of the 7000 to the 3.5mm line inputs of your Core:-
