Have you tried switching to WISA on the 18’s? might rule out a wired connection issue as a test, or even just switch to WISA permanently if it fixes the problem?
I did test it yes and the issue went away. But I also switched cables and speaker positions etc and it seems the theatre is sending out some sound to the right front when you change inputs and volume. Its rather annoying but I’m going to pursue it with support.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI got my theatre yesterday and somehow set it all up on my own 😀
Overall pretty positive experience but I am having some very serious problems with it which I hope can be ironed out with software. The 2 biggest ones are my 3rd party sub isn’t recognized at all by the setup, even with adapters it has no idea its plugged in.
Even worse is that when I change volume or switch input it puts out some Buzz buzz sound to the right front BL18. I swapped cabled, how its connected etc but it doesn’t help. I’m really hoping its a software issue and my BL18’s are 5 years old and never had a problem with the Marantz receiver they were connected to.
Not fully set up but here are some pics:
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberThe BL3’s could be fine IF you add a subwoofer.
The 17’s can be ok on their own depending on your taste. For music the bass should be enough.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI have both.
I use the BL3’s as rear home theatre speakers and the 17’s as stereo music speakers.
BL3 vs BL17 aren’t even if the same league. The 17’s will destroy the 3’s in every way.
The 3’s are good but don’t have much impact or bass. The 17’s have much more bass and punch.
How were you planning on using them?

All the speaker placements seem to be less than ideal for proper surround sound. The 3 rears around the couch seem odd, the theatre the FL will fire right against the wall and the FR into a large space. I can’t image any seating position will be the sweet spot.
I wonder how this sounds in reality and if the theatre can compensate well.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberThat’s a lot of wired speakers. I count 6 pairs and the Theatre only has 4 powerlink ports.
Each port accepts 2 channels. So you get 8 wired.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberNobody is playing censor and you can make your own opinion on these videos.
The team are welcome to say what they like, my point is don’t think these videos are professional conversations that you can safely play around kids in the car or at work. It’s very much bro talk and all the language and posturing that comes with it.
So my point as before is play cauciously
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberJust a note. These beotalk videos are not safe for work or listening around younger family members as there is a lot of questionable language. Steve is curtious as always but other people in the chat especially Willie uses the F-word constantly while drinking bear and smoking cigars being the “coolest” guy he can be. Other people on this chat throw around more questionable words like “full retard”.
Really a shame as its hard to take their word as professional with this tone.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI got the 65″ with the floor stand in oak and I should be getting it late next week if I’m lucky. So excited!
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberNow I have ordered a Beosound Theater and a pair of Beolab 18. Gold and wood on both.
Congrats on your purchase. I’ve had 18’s for 6 years and I use them every day and they are amazing. My personal opinion though is that they are a bit under-utilized as rears speakers unless you have a big room. It might make sense to use them as front LR and then get some older used BL3000’s or something like it as rears. Thats the setup is what I have now minus the theatre which is on order.
Also the BL18’s don’t have much bass as good as they are. Hopefully the combo with the theatre it will be enough especially for movies.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI have a feeling we will hit a dead end with support as the Halo’s battery life is rated at 24h on paper.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI just got this thing and Im shocked at the. horrible battery. Day and a half of light use. Whats sucking up all the power? is it the proximity sensor?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI did. Seems to work ok. As far as Halo’s go that is.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberThanks guys,
Im finding them on eBay. Are the differences in the MKII’s themselves?
mkII Type 287
MKII d898

If I am using PL Mark 3 (Beolab 3000) to the current power link is there any loss of the dual signals in that setup?
Also for the BL18’s. Do I just use good quality Cat7 cables? I believe I can daisy chain them together and then to the theatre as well.
Sorry for rookie questions I’ve never had a B&O sound system just the speakers for 20 years but hooked up though RCA to a 3rd party pre-amp.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberThanks Steve. So currently I have separate cables running to each speaker but it sounds like I need to combine them into pairs if I want to also plug in a sub correct?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberThe one thing I am not understanding is the ports to plug in your speakers. There are 4 ports but they are stereo inputs making it 8?
How will that work if I have 2 BL18’s and 2 BL3000 and a subwoofer to plug in? Do the fronts and rears each daisy chain together and then I plug in one cable for the pair?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberMy dealer is telling my the 65″ version with the motorized stand is due in Nov. Gonna be a long wait 😀
My G2 is arriving today though and gonna sit in the box for a while 🙁
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberMy god the Halo was updated for compatibility with the theatre but it can only control music functions. I wonder if volume control while watching TV is even an option.
