matadorModeratorFrankenstein creature to me…

matadorModeratorBonjour Julien,
Problem looks like obvious and the solution too: replace the idler wheel. Forum Sponsor Danish Soundparts, beside being a sponsor is also the best B&O spare parts provider and may help you. “May” because I remember that kind of part is quickly sold out but it worth a try.
Another lead: find a technique or someone able to flatten the wheel. It happens sometimes to find solutions thinking “out of the box” and it may exists one. If so, please come back to us and share your experience.
Good luck.

matadorModeratorHi,
A Beo5/6 is never dead or maybe sometimes when it’s found in what was before the living room of a sunk luxury yatch.
Search this forum and also BWI and BWII, it’s all explained: a long and daunting process but it do work 90% of the time.
Good luck and keep us updated.

matadorModeratorMy point of view…
Future prices are impossible to predict: you can have buyers from recreated editions that want to cash-in their investment and will sell BG4002s at unbeliveable prices, you can have common sellers surfing the wave and selling at same price that original items and you also can have people who just want to part with a once loved deck and ask a fair price.
Here in France BG4002 can sometimes be sold as low as 50€ “full set”, I bought two that needed not that much care for 90€ each and you also can often see items in good or less condition going up to 3500€.
So to me the real value is how much you want for yours if you sell one or how much you’re ready to pay to have one in good condition.
My and mine only point of view is that more than 400€ with cartridge included is a steal. But to be fair, if was ready to sell one it would be for more, so…
Merry Christmas to all BW members.

matadorModeratorHi, I’d like to add that Autosense in my Playmaker is a little bit wobbly in my case: Airplay start do work. Line in do work. But cross switch do not work at all.
If I’ve use line in then Airplay Auto sense doesnt work anymore. Nor if I stop Analogue in nor if it is just hjiacked with an airplay signal. I need the to select the entries with the remote.
Maybe a local issue but needs to be said if your use the Playmaker in heterogenous setup.
Cheers.

matadorModeratorNow to my specific question: do the IR signals always have to go through a Beo TV
No, it don’t.

matadorModeratorHi and welcome to Beoworld,
If nothing happens, check power supply first. Then if you’re lucky, just the CD eye.
If you’re not, it may be related to whatever CPU or EPROM error and then you’re in bad bed sheets!.
All issues are documented in BWI and BWII.
Any BS9000 deserve to be restored and all the pain for that vanish as soon as the unit turns on again.
Good luck and let us know.

It’s not 100% accurate but, I had that catalog reprinted and it does looks pretty good in A4-ish.
I replicate all the text so it should be crystal clear when printed.
Let me know…

29 November 2025 at 21:29 in reply to: B&O 1983-1984 catalog scanned and cover-recreation for a poster #71587 matadorModeratorHi Lausvi,
All covers being based on photos, the only way to turn them into a “averagely good” poster (say 40×60 cm) would be to have a very hi quality, hi res scan of the cover. because you need to cancel the dot matrix effect of the printing screen by blurring the picture and then sharpening it again. Another method would be to have an hi resolution photo shoot of the cover that “may” cancel that printing evidence.
I’ll look if I have in my catalog collection any of those and see what I can do. In the meantime could you tell me what poster size you would like ?

Could you kindly share a direct link to the hires PNGs?
Also if you mind, a link to the poster you would like to have.
Thank you.

matadorModeratorHi,
No. Airplay is the way to go, through Apple boxes or (if you’re that sensible to soud quality – I can’t advocate for it, but…) B&O devices like Playmaker or Essence.
Compared to BT any should be better.

matadorModeratorHi,
I reckon hcraig advice: try to repair it by yourself before dumping it and raplace it with an unknown specs driver.
It is scaring but lost for lost, if you succeed, then… Mmmmmmmm.
Lots of threads and step by step tutorials on BWII and BWI.
Good luck.

matadorModeratorOh, I forgot that one!
Happy Birthday B&O (and to myself by the way 😉).

matadorModeratorSearch the old forum and also maybe that one. It is all well documented.
Nevertheless I reckon I keep a Beolink 1000 with “shift” key only for that purpose.

13 November 2025 at 11:50 in reply to: Ouverture – bad Tape audio and only one channel after belt replacement #71139 matadorModeratorHi
Yes, capacitors are a problem at a moment or another.
But before, maybe you should carrefully check connections and the cable with all the tapehead wires.
I assume you have correctly clean all the contact parts and you tried with different cassettes, right?
Good luck.

matadorModeratorHi Michael,
First, your remote is a Beo5 not a Beo6.
Sourcing good batteries for these remote is quite a challenge. Some are good and will work as expected, other may run dry just after few clics.
Some that work well in one remote can last only few minutes in another remote. No solution to the problem as far as i know.If your remote has not been custom programmed you can switch it to standard mode:
In the setting menu (red dot+center key) choose “config” then you can choose between “custom” or “default”.
“Default” will load a standard config with common commands for any Beosound/Beovision/Beocenter device. Then you can use the remote while patiently learning and crafting your own program.
I’d like to add that if you only own a Beosound you’ll go into too much trouble by using this remote.
A Beo4 is a wiser choice really. I love Beo5/6 and it is really central in my setup (Sound/TV/Lights/ATv).
But I ended up with two remotes taking turn on the charger to have a least one working and in the other room where it is used, the remote is always on the cradle and when I need to use a command relying on several clics, I need to rehearse the sequence before to be sure to clic it all before the battery dies.Good luck.

13 October 2025 at 14:16 in reply to: Beo5 programming: can I dedicate some commands to separate systems #70396 matadorModeratorLong time since I have play wit a Beo5/6 but as far as I remember, commands can have a “video” or “audio” prefix.
Moreover, if you press TV, the remote should be in “TV” mode and send TV commands. Same for “CD”.It should work the same way a Beo4 would do.
