B&O Dude
BRONZE MemberIs there another place on the web where people discuss B&O more actively than here?
Thanks in advance and have a nice day.
17 June 2025 at 08:16 #66452GOLD MemberFirstly…
….what do you want to discuss – feel free to start a discussion (here).
Secondly….…

What a rude and disrespectfull attitude!
Given your activity history, you just come here when you need help, without even saying hello or introducing yourself.
If you don’t find the activity up to your expectation: feel free not to come.
Morover it should be up to your skills to find by yourself another place that better suit your needs.Look, I’ll still help you: type the letter “B”, followed by the symbol “&” and again the letter “O”, capitals or lowercase doesn’ matter, in your favorite search engine, it should be a good start…

That depends on what you are looking for and how.
The Discord Channel lately seems to have become a playground for people bragging about how many products they have and in which colours respectively how many they can afford…
…at least partly 😕
I am sure that you can find answers (if that is what someone is looking for) there, if you dig deeper into it.
The Beoworld Forum, however is the go to forum for those, who have questions concerning older products/setups.
The newer products and the use of these are – unfortunately – not very present here nowadays. But there are skilled/experienced people here, should someone have questions.
In the end we much realize that the Beoworld forum is not the only forum on the internet like it used to be.
The Beoworld forum will probably only survive, if people post/ask here…..and they get relatively snappy answers.
But honestly – as a long time poster and member – I myself sometimes have my doubts, whether the forum will survive nowadays with all the B&O related groups all over the internet.
P.S.
One major benefit of the Beoworld forum is, that the threads here are indexed by Google – a simple Google Search can often lead to answers.
This is not the case with the different Facebook Groups and Discord Channels!MM

BRONZE MemberMaybe it’s because of my graying hair, but i tried the discord and couldn’t figure how to get any useful info from it.
17 June 2025 at 18:52 #66477ModeratorI honestly don’t understand historical people who leads people to any other source than BW.
You (– We?– I’m still unable to count me in) have fight for our forum, upgrading the metal badge and “swearing allegiance”…
I’m not good at fights maybe because I’m too blunt so I try to stay away from fights.
But I can’t stand historical members point to “three posts members” a source where all (sorry) the rats have flew.
I believe Beoworld is about knowledge, passion and share. Not about views, visibility and presence.
I also believe Members have turned their mind for whatever reason I don’t get.Is BW dying? Maybe. I also feel the lack of activity.
Are all my fellows playing somewhere else? As Stan says, maybe, but it’s beyond my skills.
Am I angry to every each member that left BW for political reasons and leads to that kind of totally stupid thread? YES.And please, be all assured that it is a “political” reply because, deeply, it is worst.

BRONZE MemberThanks for all of the honest and informative responses.
I think interactions that used to take place on web forums are happening more on social media these days, but still prefer this format and feel there are advantages to it.
Sincerest apologies to any who were offended by the question.

BRONZE MemberWow, people left the forum for political reasons?!? Please don’t tell me what I missed, but I thought this kind of nonsense was mostly happening on my (US) side of the pond… 😒
I had just assumed the longish absence during the switch over to the new site was the cause of the downturn in activity…

GOLD MemberThere is a special place for BeoWorld in my heart – it was the space and place that absolutely enabled me to discover and immerse myself in what would become one of my ultimate passions: Bang & Olufsen. One that would eventually lead to career and life altering moments over the past years. This history is a big part of what keeps me coming back and pushing me to contribute as meaningfully as I can.
I am sad that it isn’t as active and visited by the folks I remember from those times however I try to post here as much as I can with constructive, helpful material. I hope my contributions will inspire others to do the same and ultimately bring people back here.
The old, long-term project threads some of us diehard folks used to put together (sometimes I still try! see Centa Penta for example haha) aren’t compatible with FB/discord-style platforms. They are living projects and need to be able to be updated and the forum-style format is great for that. All that’s missing is the amazing crew of members that can jump in and cheer us on and keep us BeoGeeks motivated to work on and finish our projects 😊

Sorry, meaning lost in translation.
Political reasons are not politics related. I meant “reason that are not related with the content of the forum”, but more interactions between members.

BRONZE MemberI suppose the word we’d use now is “drama”. I missed the drama, or maybe it played out behind the scenes. Whatever. I’m sorry to hear this.
My comment wasn’t necessarily about politics as in left vs right, etc. but more about how people seem to be having a more difficult time simply getting along, and some seem to thrive on the creation of interpersonal “drama” (and my assumption that this was mostly a US thing). IMHO, the US political scene is just one very public facet of this. No longer can people with differing opinions on a topic tolerate one another’s company (even virtually). Both sides think the other is wrong, and not just wrong, but a bad person, and bad people need to be shunned, excommunicated, etc. Maybe this started with political views, but it has spilled over into many other areas. It’s very tiring, and I’m hoping this is just a phase that will end in the not too distant future. Why can’t we just all get along?

Hi Stan,
Why? Have you ever tried to get along with those weird guys from the Bower & Wilkins forum? Try, then you ‘ll know why!
(Just kidding…)

BRONZE MemberJust my thoughts…
The Beoworld app was much easier better to use.
There just aren’t the products to discuss unlike 10 years ago say, when we had a whole raft of Beoplay products and a constant roll out of Beovision 10/11/14/Avant etc etc.
Updates to Beokabs already in the catalogue and new affordable surround sound units. The stage is a relatively great addition although not updating it with WISA and surround speakers to add to the system seems a massive loss.

FOUNDER MemberRunning a forum is difficult. I found Beoworld at its very inception mainly because they had borrowed some pictures from Beocentral which I had contributed to. Beocentral did notb have a forum and after an amicable discussion with the founder of Beoworld, Steve, we allowed use of our pictures. I had noted a nascent forum which was not much used so after discussion with Steve, I took over as moderator. At the time, I had a fairly large collection of B&O and therefore made it my task to answer every question to the best of my ability the day it was posted. After a time, we attracted quite a following and also the interest of B&O as their forum really ended up just being complaints which was not really very helpful to the brand. In our case, as we were not the manufacturer, we could sympathise but suggest solutions. The forum rapidly became the go to area for B&O questions and we had a large team of moderators – I will not embarrass them by naming them all, but Martin was a true font of knowledge as he had a collection that dwarfed mine!
When Lee took over, the forum continued to expand and he was able to establish the prize draw which expanded the site even more. I suspect this was the golden age of B&O with music systems as well as TVs and speakers being in the range. The problem really became when the range contracted, many items were no longer made in Denmark and they had to compete with brands that were more advanced in some ways. They remained selling stylish and very good sounding equipment but the prices were becoming extremely high for items that were matched in utility by lesser brands. It is interesting to see the return of record players to the range but these are not priced to attract the same market as before. Thus the number of enthusiasts has fallen. I stopped being a moderator sometime ago and have relatively little B&O these days – though enough! I therefore cannot really help with newer equipment and most is not like the old systems which were designed to be easy to service.Multicare now have ownership of this site and do a fine job in my opinion. They are the go to people for repairs – they have fixed a number of bits for me and I have a nice pair of Beolab 5 speakers that I purchased from them. However we still rely on unpaid advice on the site and us oldies are getting fewer. I spend more time on the Triumph site if I am honest! I do have a B&O TV but the sets I ise most are LG because they have a better interface and, dare I say it, a better remote! The advantage of the Beo4 and Beolink 1000 is that they could be used in the dark as the buttons navigated you – the flat remotes are simply a triumph of style over function in my opinion. My B&O Icons:22 June 2025 at 13:13 #66595GOLD MemberThank you to B&O Dude for sparking this important conversation, and to everyone who’s shared their candid observations and memories.
Several members, including Severed_hand_of_skywalker, have described the forum as “dying a slow death” with noticeably reduced engagement compared to more active channels such as Discord. At the same time, contributors like Millemis remind us that while social-media groups can be lively, they often lack the depth and permanence our forum provides—particularly for troubleshooting older B&O equipment. It’s disappointing to see other channels recommended in place of our own community.
Evan highlighted how our format uniquely supports living project threads—from Centa Penta build logs to restoration diaries—that simply don’t translate to Facebook or Discord. Meanwhile, Chris T observed that the slowdown in new product releases over the past decade has naturally led to fewer fresh topics here.
Reflecting on our roots, Peter reminded us how this forum grew into a go-to resource for B&O enthusiasts worldwide, powered by shared passion and expertise.
As you may know, it’s just over a year since Multicare assumed ownership of BeoWorld. Thanks to our site sponsors and paid memberships, we’ve been able to keep the prize draw running and organise factory visits, which we hope to hold annually (or at least biennially). We continue to work behind the scenes to bring further improvements to BeoWorld.

FOUNDER MemberMy comments are this.
- The forum is getting progressively slower in terms of posting turn-over.
- The forum is more of a letter-writing format than the Discord forum – which is more “chat” – based format. Less dynamic.
- The opposite of that is Beoworld is easy to find things (if the search engine is improved), where in Discord…its very difficult.
- The forum itself appears to be a very old Forum system and not in-line with a lot of community forums elsewhere. People cite “the you are the product” and “personal info” (which is covered by laws everywhere)…..yet are all over the Discord site. It like Dad used to say “were not joing a Video (VHS) library….cos then everyone will know we have a Video Player and it will get stolen“. Well maybe, naybe not? But then everyone had one and ours was old and worthless.
- Too many categories. Compress. Make traffic look as if it is flowing…forcing people to read perhaps what they would never be interested in (i go to General Forum only.)
