I must admit that I totally fail to see the point of playing music from a vinyl disc nowadays – now that we can get superiour sound from a digital file or a cd.

        The experience. The memories.

Long before you could listen to 100 million songs for $10 a month, you had radio stations with character, and if you wanted to play a song whenever you liked you had to buy the album or single.

I strongly remember my youth in the late 60’s and 70’s when I had to save up $4.15 so I could bike to Civic Music to buy an album.  It was a major event!  At home I would sit down and listen to the album while taking it all in.  The album meant something to you because you bought it.  If you found more than one song on it you liked then it became a treasured album.

If you grew up later than I did then it was probably CD’s instead of vinyl, but I am sure the experience would be similar.

I have a Beogram 8002 with a Sound Smith MMC1 and a MMP3 phono preamp. It really sounds nice when I play an album.  Even though the vinyl probably has the same master as the CD/digital it does sound a little different.  While they both sound excellent I haven’t found anyone that prefers the sound of the digital version over the analog. Listening to an album now does remind me of my early days.

While I would love for B&O to make a modern classic turntable that is affordable, I know that probably won’t happen.

What would really be interesting for me, in the future when the Theatre will work with Mozart speakers, is to use 2 A5’s as additional temporary surround speakers. The battery would allow for placement where a power outlet is not available.

I wonder what it would sound like if two people are listening and one is staying still while the sweat spot is following the one that is moving around?

              For speaker position try:

Product Settings -> Configure -> Sound -> Speaker Position

and then select “Table” from the list then press CHANGE

I found that some settings  on ASE devices still need to be changed “the old way”, and apparently this is one of them.

For sound from the TV source, I find “Movie” more pleasing to my ears.  But this is going to be a hard one to go with someone elses recommendation.  Try a few settings and see what improves it for you.  There is a big difference between the TV source and a blu-ray source for me also, but I don’t dislike the sound from TV.

You can definately wall mount the C2 and it will look nice.  According to the LG website the C3 has a depth of 1.9″ and the G3 has a depth of 1″.  The G3 comes with a wall mount and not a stand.  The G3 will look more like a picture on the wall, whereas, depending on the wall mount, the C3 will look like a wall mount TV.

I should mention that I have a historically long record of purchasing products right before they are updated!  I remember buying my prized LaserDisc player and in a week or two the new model came out.  I have no idea when the new Stage may come out, the A9 and BeoSound 2 were just refreshed so who knows.  Whatever happens I will still love my Gen 1 BeoSound 2 and the two Stages.  They are all providing an incredible amount of enjoyment so they were all good purchases.

I purchased 2 Stage’s around Christmas and they are very nice indeed! I absolutely love the sound when listening to music. B&O doesn’t reveal their roadmap for their products for obvious reasons and there probably is a Mk II sometime in the future.  I wouldn’t count on the ability to add additional speakers, if it does then expect the price to reflect that.

I expect the current generation of the Stage to have a healthy life.  I’m sure the CPU is suffieient for what it has to do.  If in the future, hopefully 10+ years, it does become out of date I wouldn’t feel bad to have to buy the current model.

I can confirm on mine that you should not see any silver of the usb plug.  The white sleeve goes all the way to the power supply.

I had a similar issue with one of my Emerge.  It turned out that the USB cable on the power supply wasn’t in all the way.  It initially felt that way but it needed an extra push.  Since you tried swapping out the cable this probably isn’t the issue, but it’s worth a check.

                            Morten,

Thank you for the information on LC3plus.  It definately sounds like I want that option enabled.

This is pretty new to me.  I see under Product settings -> Audio Quality you can choose between Uncompressed and High quality compression which utilized LC3plus.  Currently I have Uncompressed selected because my music library is uncompressed lossless. If I experience dropouts I can try the other option.

Where do you see where LC3plus was recently updated?  I don’t see it listed under About.

                                Stan,

Thank you for the information.  It definately doesn’t sound like a wi-fi connectivity issue since you have your Balances hardwired.  It sounds like it could be a LC3plus codec issue, so that may be a 3rd-party software update that would need to happen. I shouldn’t count on 2.5.3 to resolve this issue for me, but I haven’t experienced it yet.

I guess the design isn’t for everyone.  I’ve never had a wifi router that looks like it so I don’t make that association.

That had to be a nightmare for B&O software-wise.  They could control all the features of non-GVA devices but had to rely on Google for many of the features of the GVA devices.  Of course the customer would complain to B&O if some Google feature didn’t work properly.

I never bought the GVA version of a device.

There was a software update for the Emerge and Level today.  I was able to go over my friends house and listen to her Level pair for a good while.  I did not hear any dropouts. I am still amazed how good a stereo pair of the Levels are.  They sound fantastic!

Stan, what the Level’s provide for you is options for the future.  There may be a need in the future where the Level’s would fit the environment even better than your office, and then you can reconsider the needs of your office and see if the Emerge is a good fit. That’s what’s nice about these music systems, they can easily be relocated as the needs change.  My friend’s Level’s have changed locations 3 times, most recently because a Beosound Stage was a better fit for the room.  In the mean time the Levels are a joy to listen to!

I haven’t quite figured out what makes the Emerge an exciting product for me.  It is very elegant looking and doesn’t really make its presence known.  When the Level’s first came out I bought a friend a stereo pair and they do sound fantastic, but I couldn’t see having a pair of Level’s in my bedroom. The Beosound Emerge is quite a remarkable speaker and I hope they do well.

I just updated them to 2.5.3 so I will have to see what that update brings any Airplay improvements for me.

I have the original Beosound 2 so I don’t know about the next iteration.  I remember it took a little while for the Mozart products to get the alarm.  I don’t use GVA but would that have an alarm function?  I don’t know why B&O wouldn’t include it across the board.

Oh, and make sure your time zone (Location) is correct.  One time after resetting my Beosound 2 I forgot to set the time zone and woke up 6 hours early!
