Beolab 5 do not work with WiSa, don’t ask me why but it have always been the case, so you need to hardwire it.

Will it be worthwhile to trade in my Eclipse MK1 after 5yrs for a Contour. Assuming the Contour screen is the latest LG screen with no risk of burn-in after time? Does somebody know which type LG screen is in the Contour?

There will always be a risk for burn in, also on a LCD screen. The OLED are getting much better than they were, but there is still a risk, if you watch a lot of materiel with Logo.

I would recommend getting a Beosound Theater instead. It can be paired with all screens on the market, so if/when the tv breaks you can change it out for a new, but still keep the B&O part.

I would off cause recommend getting a LG OLED again, as you get the best connection that way.

          Just a few points,

The screen is a colour screen

And the big software have arrived as promised, but you need the BLI to fully make use of the Halo. That is by design.

            Ahh Great,

I am looking forward to see if you find the extra speakers worth it.

It is the setup I want to have, when I move. And yes the BL3 is now a very good and cheap option.

And I agree that the BL90 is enough bass, not to compare but I have the same with my BL5, the BL19 will not add anything.

Mr 10 Procent, which of these are the one that looks like your setup

Dolby Atmos Speaker Setup Guides – Dolby

As it sounds for me that you use the BL 3 as Height speakers and not Overhead speakers.

So you are creating some form of 7.2.0 and not 5.2.2

Without having had a look in the crystal ball, I would say: probably not. Matter can potentially be the “saviour of simple automations”, but deep product specific features (let’s take the overlay functionality on Mozart as an example) will probably not be exposed via Matter.

To me, a good, local, open and preferably well documented API will win over Matter-compatibility any day. Don’t read this as “Matter is baaaad!”. I think it will make it much easier for “everyone” to do more stuff with their devices in general suing Matter, but if you like the nitty-griddy stuff like me, I don’t think it’s superior.

So I agree that the Harmony is properly not getting a change like more speakers.

But if they want to keep it, they will upgrade it to Mozart.

You do have upgraded products through time, like the Beolab 9 to 20.

But also the A9, which is on MK 4, and have got more speakers than MK1. We will also see a MK5 with Mozart for sure, as it is their bestselling product. I also have an Idea that we are going to see Beosound 2 with Mozart.

Just because they sell 50 Theatre for every Harmony, it is not an argument of discounting the model. They still have BL90 even though they are outsold by all other models, by a large margin.

Harmony is a flagship product, and if there is good business in the number it is selling, then it is good. And I personally hope they keep it, and upgrading it, even though it would be a small upgrade.

I would say so, the Beolab 5 do not have a boomi bass. Surprising considering it have 15″ woofer.

I went from the Beolab 20 to the Beolab 5,

It is a completely other speaker, and I would never settle for Beolab 28 after having the Beolab 5.

I do like to hear with a good volume where the difference is massive.

If you just look at the size of the drivers, you will have the answer, physics applies.

Is there any reason to have the BL28 online? Would it not be better to make the Theatre control everything?

And what a great buy BeoPat, nice to see so many buying the Theatre.

Taste is different, but thinking that BV5 has a good picture compared to TV’s today, is just silly.

But good for you, you can buy the product cheap, and the BV5 for free.

I have the BL5 and BL3 from that time, and they are stellar products. But my Harmony and BL 17 are at least as good, and in many ways better.

About the planned obsolescence, they are really trying to change this now, and most new products are going to be cradle to cradle certified. As the only electronic brand of now.

It have 8 Powerlink output (4×2)

                              And 8 WiSa output

So you can connect a total of 16 speakers.

With the stage you only have CEC, which work with all the simple functions.

So yes the BR1 can control the Player.

New user here, and sorry if I’m asking anything out of order here. I’ve been looking at ways to improve my aging system and have been thinking about a complete overhaul. I currently have a Sony Bravia, with a Pioneer Elite AVR 5.1 system. Nothing about my system is easy, the ARC to the receiver often powers it down, when the tv powers on, and the selection of inputs, along with the slow google OS on the tv, makes it impossible for my wife to even turn on the tv when I am not there. So I want to simplify, but not necessarily lose a ton in sound quality. I’m in a converted warehouse loft space with 16ft ceilings and a pretty open living space. Just trying to provide as much flavor as possible. My wife will be on board with this if it’s easy to turn on, and select cable or streaming, with one remote, and she really likes the appeal of no wires. We use AppleTV, and our cable box as the two main input sources. I guess, I’ll have to travel to a dealer to be able to see/hear in person, but the specs seem like it’s powerful enough to put out enough sound. I’m hung up on adding rear surrounds. I believe I am reading it correctly, that if I want to add two wireless speakers, the only wireless standard supported is WISA, and am I correct that when I look at B&O’s product offering on their website, for a wireless rear surround option, the BeoLab 18’s are the least expensive option at $11k per speaker? None of the Beosound series of speakers will function wirelessly on the WISA standard? Will any of the Beosound series work via power link in a wired application? Reading this thread, it seems like many of you have extra legacy speakers ready to be called into service as surrounds, but if, like me, you are building from scratch it seems a little daunting. I owe it to myself to get to an actual dealer, to ask a lot of the same, but until then, appreciate the insights provided here.

I switch to B&O for the same reason, my girlfriend never used my older system with Marantz reciever.

So the Beolab 18 is 11K for a pair, so half the price you thought. Also it is always possible to get some discount, if you buy a lot.

In 2023 you will be able to use the Beosound that are Mozart, which will be much cheaper, but when in 2023 no one knows, but they are working on it.

It is always possible to start with the Teatre and then add surround later.

There is definitely room for improvement on the settings in the App, and a new update have already arrived today. But I expect many updates the next couple of years.

There was a limited supply of the Mozart board, so they prioritized the Level and Beolab 28. I cannot imagine that it is the case any more, and I bet we will see some older product being upgraded to Mozart soon.

I cannot see Emerge being relaunch without Mozart, as they will have it cradle to cradle certified, and Mozart is the key for this.

That is really sad to hear. There should be a dealer that could solve the problems for you. What are the problems with the Eclipse?

app setup / settings looks decent enough to my eyes. I wonder if that means there is no / very little B&O menu section that shows up / can be shown on the LG panel itself. (I’m not overly familiar with the Eclipse / Harmony generations to be honest). Anyway, I dont especially mind doing most of the settings on the app. not sure if that way will appeal to everyone though. Guess we’ll find out in a few weeks.

The soundbar can be used with any screen, so therefore there needs to be a app option. On a correct LG model, it is as we are use to.
