Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberNow I understand lechatsurletoit’s question:
When it comes to multiroom deployment, one can adopt either the ML or the NL philosophy:
- ML: You stick to a traditional ML deployment and feed digital sources coming from a Beosound Essence via the Beolink Converter NL/ML into your ML deployment. In that case, indeed, you only need one Essence to provide all your ML rooms with digital sources like Spotify or Deezer.
- NL: You switch to an Ethernet-based NL deployment – in that case, you have a Beosound Essence in every room and obtain a high level of autonomy for playing digital content. To access traditional ML sources, you feed them via the Beolink Converter NL/ML into your NL deployment.
I assume lechatsurletoit is more on the ML side of the house, whilst Millemis and I are on the NL side.

One BeoSound 9000, feeding CD or AUX (Beogram) signal into any of the Essences.

13 October 2025 at 14:58 in reply to: Beo5 programming: can I dedicate some commands to separate systems #70397 Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberMerci, Matador !
I think this would solve my problem, but I worked around it by digging out my old Beolink Converter NL / ML. By using this, all commands are sent via bluetooth remote to the Beosound Essence and are routed from there via Beolink Converter to the Beosound 9000. As the Beosound 9000 has no more Powerlink speakers attached, it will not react to IR commands, so only the Beoplay V1 TV can react to IR commands.
Thus, I got not my initial question answered, but the problem solved (that triggered the question in the first place).

However, I did fix the situation following a recommendation Millemis posted, using the Beolink Converter NL/ML. This works for me – but I have to confess your approach sounded very tempting !

13 October 2025 at 06:32 in reply to: Beo5 programming: can I dedicate some commands to separate systems #70383 Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberThank you Millemis, I indeed had a Beolink Converter NL/ML around and I tried to integrate the Beosound 9000 into my NL network. I did have some issues figuring the settings out, but eventually got there (I published another post regarding this).
The good thing is: Now that the Beosound 9000 has no more speakers attached directly to it, I do not need the Almando box any longer and the Beosound does not react to the IR remote, but only to commands it receives from the Beolink Converter NL/ML.

Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberDear Lee and Keith
dear communityMeanwhile, I was able to stop at my German post stop to collect the package from Beoworld. I unpacked the earset at home together with my 14 years old daughters and we were stunned the three of us. Myself, I looked at the device with a sense of nostalgia, thinking of the “old days” of portable device design by B&O, my daughters with curiosity because – born in 2009 – they had never seen such a thing, but immediately liked it.
I would like to express my gratitude to you for running the forum and for making my January shine in the silvery light of the new headset!
Best regards, Stefan

Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberDear Lee, dear Keith
I understand the reasons that drive your decision perfectly, nevertheless it makes me sad to see you leave a service that has rendered me support and advice for many years.
I share your impression that the B&O brand is aging with its users, and we will see where the changed consumer / buyer behaviour will lead the brand to.
To you both I wish the best for the years to come, remembering the good times you had with the BeoWorld community and not wasting a thought on the less favourable moments.
Best regards, Stefan

Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberQuestion:
Is the sound you mentioning perceived while you are playing a CD, or when you are moving from CD to CD?
Is the sound perceived only when starting the CD, or also while the CD is playing?
Is the sound a mechanical clicking coming from the drive, or do you hear it through the loudspeakers?

Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberFirst of all you need to make sure there are no “products” in the zone you want to remove, then go to the zones tab, right click on the the zone you want to to delete and the option to delete should be in that list. Stoobie

Stefan ZuegerGOLD MemberDear community
I wanted to share an update on above topic.
As no spare parts are available for the BeoSound 9000 any longer, my official B&O dealer was unable to repair the device.
However, I did find a gentleman in Switzerland who buys old B&O equipment and uses it to refurbish or repair “vintage” models as mine. In my case, they had to fix the sled, replace the MasterLink module and do some soldering on the amplifier. Works and looks as new! I paid EUR 330 for the repairwork.
