Hi MM,
The A5 does not allow feeding analogue audio into the USB-C port. However, it can connect to a computer using a USB-C cable and thhis will play the computer audio to the speaker, as well as charging the speaker.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
At present, only A9 mk5, Beosound 2 mk3 and Theatre have analogue audio input enabled via their USB-C sockets. A5 can only play audio from a PC via this socket, so your only option for the A5 is to link to a PC and use the PC as your Roon end point.
For the Theatre, this is possible via a Bluesound Node. If you are in United Kingdom (or you have a UK shipping address) then please get in touch via my sponsor link at the foot of the page and I can help with connections. Sorry I can’t offer support or shipping to customers outside UK at present.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
A5 doesn’t have a line input, so this feature is not present in the app. The only way to physically connect any device to the A5 is to link a PC via the USB-C socket (this doesn’t work for analogue audio), then the A5 will act as the PC speaker.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
Mozart-based B&O products like the A5 don’t allow you to adjust the gain of the line input, but on speakers that have a line input, you can change the sensitivity of the input (ie. how loud the line input needs to be before the speaker automatically switches to the line input as the source). A5 doesn’t have a line input, so this doesn’t apply.
Kind regards, Steve.

…and here it is!
Really sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences to Peter’s family. Thanks MM for telling us Peter’s story in such a thoughtful and caring way.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Beoworlders,
This is just my own personal view (not the official view of the forum or the moderators) but I think it may harm B&O’s business if people share information about any B&O products that are not currently in the public domain. My personal view is that if you do know anything about any unreleased products, please keep this to yourself, as this helps B&O to succeed and to be able to continue making products that we want to buy many years into the future.
Thanks for your understanding,
Steve.
Hi NSTU,
welcome to BeoWorld! If changing the input doesn’t help, the back light inverter may be at fault. This is common on the BV8 and the fix is quite simple…if you can get to it. Basically, 6 washers on the ground connection of the inverter need to be changed for star washers to give a secure ground connection. The only issue is that it can take an hour of dismantling to get to the parts you need to change.
I had the same issue on my BV8-32 and this fixed it, the tv has been fine for 4 years since the repair.
I apologise that I don’t have the disassembly instructions to get to the washers, maybe someone else on the forum can help with this?
Kind regards Steve.
Congratulations to all the lucky winners! And a big thank you to all the gold members for helping to support this amazing site!
Good luck everyone!
Hi yahoe,
Welcome to Beoworld! The answer your question, no this is not possible. Powerlink sockets are only for speakers. If you want to connect a turntable (via a pre-amp) then this needs to be done via the Aux In (red and white RCA) sockets only. No other socket can be used.
If you are in UK (or if you have a UK shipping address) please feel free to get in touch via my sponsor link below for help with finding the right pre-amp and getting everything connected.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Morten,
Welcome to Beoworld!
Many thanks for the updates, it is always good to hear from the team at B&O with your advice on the best options for using your speakers. Thank you for your team’s work on the recent software updates, these do seem to be greatly improving the reliability of the speakers.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Mark,
My stereo paired Emerges are cabled to my router and locked to software version 1.8 in the B&O app. They haven’t had any issues with dropping out and I use Airplay and Spotify Connect on a daily basis.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Mark,
Glad my review was helpful. I have been absolutely blown away by the clarity and natural tone of my stereo paired Emerges that I use for quiet music in my bedroom (these replaced Beolab 4s).
Many B&O stores don’t seem to understand how to get the best from Emerge, they are often placed on a table in the middle of a large room which doesn’t show their sound well. They really sing when placed in the corners of a small to medium room and used for music at reasonable volumes (up to 70dB) in a stereo pair.
I rate them above the Level in this situation, indeed I had the choice of using a Level but I opted for two Emerges instead.
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
Using an NL/ML Converter is the ideal option, as you get full control of the Beosound 9000 from your newer B&O products. However, if you don’t want the expense of the converter, the cable that MM mentioned allows you to link the Powerlink output of the 9000 to any other audio system (or even directly to an active speaker). Using the Powerlink output of the 9000 gives you the choice of using the Beo4 or the connected system for volume control.
Please set the Beosound volume to a high level (50-75%) to give you the full range of volume control from the other system’s remote or app.
You then just need a Speaker Sense Adapter for the Beosound (this plugs into the other Powerlink socket on the Beosound 9000 to allow it to accept commands from the B&O remote control without having B&O speakers connected):-
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi,
This issue shouldn’t occur normally, but several factors can bring it on. Lack of grounding to the digital amps in ICE Power speakers can cause a low frequency mains hum or buzz sound, but this was described as a high frequency buzz in the original post, which sounds like something different…
One option would be to connect just one speaker at a time to see if the noise is always there (does it come from the Theatre speakers as well?) and if all speakers are connected.
There may be an equipment fault in there somewhere…
Kind regards, Steve.
Thanks Martin,
Kind regards, Steve.
…and another review for you with Ian from B&O Manchester!
Kind regards, Steve.
