I currently operate a BM 4500 with sw 2.2. It is a 2-way terminal and I can set it to options 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4. In Option 3 it reacts to the remote. I cannot remember what it is for, it is not mentioned in the option setting list. Maybe I can find something in my archive.
You may check the sw version of your BM. Talking about options 5 and 6, those were only available in earlier 1-way versions. 1-way function only had been included in the BM 4500 with a sw version below 2.1.
I dug a little in my notes of the time when I acquired the display. My display is most likely a Panasonic TH-50PH10. It seems from what you posted, that yours might be an older screen, if it came with a BeoSystem 1. According to forum posts, the displays started with D5 and then went up until D11. Typing the panel name into an internet search engine, I received the operating instruction manual. If you replace „PH10″ with any given number of one of the produced displays, i. e. „PH5“, you will receive the operating manual for this panel.
The manual shows all aspects of the display you are looking for. The IR sensor seems to be for all different panels on the lower left side. Operating it did not require to remove the frame. But I had to hold the remote very close to the frame in a certain spot to switch the unit on or off.
Also, as Lee mentioned, there are connections for passive speakers at the panels rear side.
And the fitting remote per panel is described as well, so best take a look for it in the manual. In any case I attached the picture of my remote (meant for use with a Pana receiver / BD player) and its serial number. Researching the net, I found plenty of it.
In my case, it had been possible to connect an ATV III directly to the Panel. The connection was HDMI from the ATV to DVI-D (panel) for video and, if I remember well, I had to connect the audio separately because of the DVI which did not carry both signals. So, in your case it might be as well the case, that you need an adapter or switch for video and an additional audio connection. In any case it should be possible to connect the ATV directly to the screen.
One hint: I am located in Germany. So, what I found is true for my market and it may or may not apply to yours. As far as I know, there were several variations in respect of the different markets. I remember that there seemed to be i. e. different panel types for EU and US. If it means a difference I do not know.
So, I hope it helps and you will enjoy your BV 4 very soon.
Kind regards,
Rolf
EDIT: I see that the third character of the S/N is not clear. It is: N2QAYB000338.
Yes, you can turn it on with a Panasonic remote. I used my 4-50 a couple of years with a Panasonic DMR 750 receiver/ BD player and it worked fine. If I remember well, I connected it with a BC 9500 and got the sound through it via the connected Beolabs.
If it will help, I can check and post the serial number of the remote. There should be plenty out there on ebay or other platforms. I guess that it will work with all 4-50 / Panasonic displays, but cannot tell 100% to be sure. My 4-50 is a Panasonic D10 display and it has the IR receiver for the Panasonic remote on the lower left side.
Kind regards,
Rolf
As far as I know similar products called powerlink switch are offered by Bosscom and Oneremote. I have no knowledge of how well they work.
I am using two Oneremote PL switches (DIN) with 2 pairs of Beolab speakers (5000, 4500) connecting a BSys 3 and a BC 9500. Working flawless since a couple of years. At the time I bought them, they were approximately half the price of the Almando device.
I was checking my BLCs and discovered, that the unit with the new electronics is not in store but in use with my BeoSystem 4500. Looking into the log, here is, what I found:

My BLC screen in the update section looks like this:

At least, a dealer should still be able to update with his service tool.

My experience: I once bought a BLC, at that time indifferent of sw versions. It was cheap and I purchased without asking and it turned out to be on a lower sw version.
Now, this said unit was two updates behind. Customer service pointed at the online update and that it should work. And it did not update, neither automatically nor manually. Asking customer service, they told me, that in this case, only a dealer would be capable of updating the unit with his service tool. I asked my dealer who was not aware of this problem and if it would work. I gave it a try and he did it for a decent price.
First, it seemed to work well. At some point, it started to fail punctually, no longer reliably transmitting the data and music. In the end, I let it be checked by my dealer again and he had to exchange the complete inside electronics.
All of my other (3) BLC have the latest sw. If I try to update manually, I receive something like „it is on the latest sw version“. So from my experience and according to customer service (I guess 2 years ago), it seems that you can still update a unit online, if it is not on the latest sw. But it seems to me that it is likely not possible, if the actual version is too far behind the latest update. I also cannot exclude the possibility that my unit had been faulty right from the start and that this has been the reason that it did not update.
Personally, I would still go for a BLC to merge my ML and NL products. I have that „new“ BLC now stored, planning to connect my BC 9500 / BG 9500 to my network one day ?.
But info about sw version – my point of view – is important to minimize the risk of buying units with hidden faults or not behaving correctly. So, if the seller is not sure about the sw version and he wants to sell, than it should be possible to plug the unit into the mains, connect via LAN to the network and check the sw version. Takes about 2 minutes.
Alternatively, you could ask him, if he is willing to confirm that he will take the unit back, if the sw version is behind and can not be updated.
Kind regards,
Rolf
Hi Madskp,
look here, please, that thread will help you:
Beolink ML/NL version number? 1.4, 1.3

I operate my BS 9000 integrated in the ML – NL network via BLC. I can join its music / sources on my Emerge, BS 2, Essence or BV Eclipse. It is working flawlessly and for the first two units it is working wirelessly. And it’s such a beautiful sight to see – I am never getting tired of its look on the wall and the smooth operation of its functions.
Kind regards,
Rolf
I am not using chromecast, though it shows as „enabled“. My sw version is 1.28.102057, so, far behind what seems to be the latest version. I cannot help here, sorry.
Kind regards,
Rolf
Hi,
I am operating some BLC and had a similar issue once with one of the units. I had to reset it and after that it was working fine again. Maybe this could be worth a try?
Kind regards,
Rolf
Hi Johan,
that is great, good news. Reading your post, I went straight trying it with my Beo 4, but was not successful, still. No numbers nor up-and-down buttons release a switch.
I will check my Essence settings at the weekend, if there may be time. Might be a difference to the core. I keep my fingers crossed. And thank you for the information!
Rolf
Hallo John,
Viel Erfolg,
Rolf
I just listened to this new and very enjoyable release from Moby………the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track

Just to complete the information about B&O Radio and the BeoSound Moment, may be some will find it useful.
Customer Service informed me that the Moment is not and will not be upgradable to B&O Radio.
Although TuneIn will be swept from all other devices, it will remain for the Moment to be used with. So, in a way, I think it can be a positive aspect, if using a Moment in the network, it is possible to access both B&O Radio and TuneIn, still.
Kind regards,
Rolf
Go and grab one and enjoy your ML products working together with NL products!
Kind regards,
Rolf
Hello Xavier,
Johan has mentioned what is to my knowledge the final sw version. Last year, I had to order a repair of one of my BLC ´ s and they needed to exchange the electronics completely. So, more or less a new unit, and it says sw is on 1.4.3.19864. You should be careful indeed, and buy only a BLC with the latest sw version. If it is on a lower level sw version, it may be so because of faulty electronics.
The sw versions of the BLC are, from latest to older:
1.4.3.19864 – Final version
1.4.3.19816
1.4.2.19611
1.4.1.19522
Those are the ones I know about.
Kind regards,
Rolf
Norah Jones „I dream of Christmas“, B Side, vinyl in opaque silver (issue 2021). Played on BG 4500, connected to respective BM.

It’s that time of year again for us to watch Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character lament the complete destruction of her beloved Beosystem 4500.
Absolute lovely movie, I slow-mo´d this scene several times, truely great! And heartbreaking. In German TV it has several different titles, this year it is „Schöne Bescherung“ (which I do not know how to translate, it describes the time of Christmas Day in Germany, when the young and old kids receive their Christmas presents).
From tomorrow until 26th it will be broadcasted seven times over TV.
