Hi Jakes, I’m watching this thread because soon I fear my BV-7 will fall ill and need replacing perhaps with something more modern.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberIs it possible you may have bought a model previously used in a hotel room?
Have you tried contacting B&O customer services with the serial number? Might help.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHi, here’s further reference to the headphone socket and it’s relation to powerlink.

Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberCongratulations to all the 2024 winners and a happy new year to all Beoworlders around the world 😎😍
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHello Glen,
A lovely gesture. I would recommend a pair of Beovox 3000 type 6716 flat panel.
These look very modern, sound good and hang from the wall.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHi Guy,
A very good read. I too have followed Mark’s Youtube channel – fascinating bloke and enormously talented. I do love it when he decides to engineer a replacement part, as well as the electronics side.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberInteresting. Well as long as we all make the necessary adjustments to our contacts it shouldn’t hinder the sales and excellence offered by Beoparts, ahem! sorry, I mean Danish Sound Parts.
I love how you referenced ‘our’ Martin. The man himself guided me through lots of repairs and good use tips over the years. He is indeed our own treasure (among a lot of you good ol’ Beopeople from this site).Nice bit of news there Beobuddy!
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberUpdate:
Well well what a fun little journey that was 😀
I am now the exceedingly happy owner of a fully working and stunning Beogram 6500!So as @Dillen suggested I found a replacement transformer from a well known auction website for sixty five pounds.
It came supplied with a fused circuit board (with the large capacitor) but had different traces to the one on my Beogram so I just soldered the new transformer to the original board and fitted it.When power was added the Beogram was alive. It wouldn’t track though. This baffled me for ages – until I decided to open up my Beogram 3500 to use as a reference. After checking the two I noticed the wires for the lamp were connected to the two pins for the motor, and vice-versa. I changed them over and presto the deck operated as normal.
Next up I had to raise the platter to the correct height. Then the arm followed by the tonearm. Finally I adjusted the drop point because the stylus was slipping off the record at the start. (Worst nightmare)
The tracking weight was set at over 1.5 so I pulled that back to just on 1.
Big moment. Connected the Beogram up to the BM and sat for the next couple of hours enjoying some of my favourite LPs 😎
As always, I couldn’t have done this without the years of knowledge, resources and friendly people on this site to give me the confidence to try.
(Two photos – the ‘how lucky am I?’ using one Beogram to check against the other scenario. And the BG6500 up and running at last ❤️)

Just thought I would add that on mine the drawer tyres have hardened and become elliptical – I guess from where the Beocord has sat in one position for a long time. This will no doubt have an effect on how hard the drawer motor has to work and how smooth the action will be.
I bought a replacement set of tyres from Beoparts (now: Danish Sound Parts) and shall fit them soon. The obligatory write-up will follow in due course.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHi Max, the way I interpreted this was If you were to look at the platter from the front elevation of the Beogram, the top of the platter would be proud of the top plate by 2.5mm to 3mm.
Hope that helps.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberA quick update on the Beogram’s origin: found a serial label inside the user guide!
There is also a white label inside underneath the aluminium.

What was the outcome of your endeavours? Did you buy a UK cartridge or did you go for the Soundsmith option?

Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHi Max Deems,
Schematics are available to gold Beoworld members. These carry details on how to adjust the tonearm, etc.
Could be worth your while if you plan to repair more B&O.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberHi Woodewood,
Very odd behaviour. If it doesn’t make any difference to power it down for ten minutes and restart, I would expect an electronic element has expired.
It might be time to find a trusted service centre and have it inspected.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberThere should be no nylon washer – but in some Beocords you will find a bronze spring plate. Does the large pulley wiggle on the metal spindle? Has the thread on the spindle been damaged? Martin
Hi Martin – yes the large pulley does wiggle on the metal spindle. And on those wiggles the scraping noise occurs. The thread is ok as far as I can see.
I shall remove the nylon and see how the pulley reacts.
A small bronze spring plate should be easy enough to come by so thank you for that suggestion.Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberWas this Beogram moved to a different mains voltage area?
Good question. I’ll check the serial number and see if it’s an overseas model. I have very little knowledge of the origins of this and the other parts of the Beosystem. All new stuff to find out…..Replace the transformer and make sure it is set up correctly for the actual local mains voltage before connecting mains. Having siad that – if the Beogram suffered an over-voltage situation, some of the electronics may also have been damaged. Martin
Thank you Martin – I’ll hope for the best and try to find a replacement transformer.
Location: Kent, UKGOLD MemberThank you 👍
Location: Kent, UKGOLD Member- Beogram CD4500: same as CD7000.
- Beogram CD3500: same as CD7000.
Just to clarify, the CD4500 and CD3500 have full touch controls and a digital out so may be worth considering as a good cd player in this setup. Plus they both have nice moving lids and look fabulous in the dark – it’s not just about the sound with B&O it’s the theatre too (no pun intended).
