are you experiencing the same / similar issue?
No, none!
But that may be because live tv in Denmark generally is 2.0 (they gave up on 5.1 years ago because the viewers complained).
When I write ‘live tv’ this is from the built-in OTA-tuner/LG.Question – if you watch via an external box?
Don’t you have an option to let the box send a 2.0 PCM signal?MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkThank you Thomas for reading and observing.
I also just received the second release of the new beta and want to share for other beoworlders, what I send as beta feedback.
”Another new version of the beta…..
I had hoped for some improvements.
Opening the player (of my M3 and the BST) offers me this.
How am I to choose a source to play?
I can’t start any playback from here – it just says ‘tv’ or ‘Ingen kilde/No source’.Sure, I can go to the main page to start Netradio or access the files on my NAS.
Or I can play from extern via Connect (Spotify/Tidal) or Airplay/Cast.
But where are the sources that used to be hehind the 3 small dots?
How do I (on one of my many ASE based products) access my connected CD Player, how do I access a device on the line-in of a connected device or how do you access the built-in Deezer? There is still a lot missing – seems that this player is for people, who access their device/s from without the B&O app and who simply wants to control which other devices to play in the multiroom setup.”
This beta is – still – absolutely unuseable to me.
Would be nice to see some roadplaning for the app.
I am really tempted to roll this back to the previous 5.3 build ?N.B.
As you can see, this is the app on my iPad.
Whether it behaves different on other devices/iPhone I don’t know.By the way – it would be nice to know on which devices you are real life testing, before releasing the beta?
P.S.
I miss the volume ring!
That was some of what made the app special.
You can find these simple slider volume thingy in any other app ?MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkI have to be careful what I say because of any potential NDA issue. I have reviewed the operation of the new BeoApp 5.4.0 and gave comments back on its usability and other issue.
There’s no NDA on the Beta app
So, maybe Mr10% is a beta beta tester!
Yes, that is from an iPad. I am definitely not going to test that on any other of my devices…..it is far away from being finished – even for a beta version.
It is interesting – and disturbing – that the Android version seems to be rather different from the Apple version.
Can’t say if it looks cheap – maybe just different.
The previous version sure had/has some quirks, but it worked for my purposes.MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkIt should not be that hard to update the PUC.
Come on B&O!
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkYou could use one of the MyButtons for Live TV and set the startup volume somewhat higher there.
Sure that does not solve ‘the problem’….if there is any – but it makes things less annoying.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkAnother video that shows the different placement options of the BL8.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkA video that sheds some light on the relation B&O <-> Origin Acoustics for the Bollard here
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkThe ceiling mounting option will be available later.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkPlease do not expect any speaker with a built-in hight/upfiring speaker from B&O…..that is not how they do it.
Assuming that you already have an excisting (5.x or 7.x) base layer of speakers, with the right placement the BL8 can play the role of a hight (or even a ceiling) speaker.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkIt means that this product can funtion as a regular Mozart based B&O multiroom speaker (in single or stereo mode) as well as a regular Beolab speaker.
The old – now not used anymore – Powerlink connection had the datalink built in. This is not the case with newer PL connections/cables.
Please read https://www.soundsheavenly.com/faq/guide-various-types-powerlink-cable-bang-olufsen-use/
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkWill it offer compatibility with older Hi-Fi systems, like the Beosystem 6500, allowing control of CD, Radio, and Vinyl through the remote app?
Yes and no!
Powerlink is an analog connection for sound, which means that the BL8 can be used with any Beomaster, Beosound, Beocenter that has Powerlink output port.
They then act as a source for the BL8’s – these are then just speakers.
In that case you are controlling the source device with its normal remote control e.g. a Beo4.MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkThanks!
Interesting to see the various mounting/placement options.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkNot something that can be of much use in a danish climate.
Why, does rain in Denmark always go sideways? Maybe not for installation on a North Sea oil platform… A drain plug in the bottom can be left in or opened up, at installer’s option.
===========
No, but I usually do not spend much time in the garden, when it rains.
MM
Location: Flensborg————Danmark<!–more–>Probably something that a (US) installer can offer, when he does a whole house B&O installation.
Not something that can be of much use in a danish climate.
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkPlease notice that in the link that goes to Origin Acoustics (and on their website) there is no mentioning whatsoever of Bang & Olufsen.
Also the name there is SEASONS LSB64 and The Landscape Bollard Loudspeaker.I am not so sure that it was someone at B&O, who had ‘a sense of humor’.
It seems more like a product (with an included BS Core) that they also brand Bang & Olufsen – but in reality was something that Origin Acoustics came up with for the most part.
Would be interesting to know, if the amp that they mention is the same as what B&O calls Beoamp 125.4.MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkIt seems that they will be demoed at the Cedia in Denver during the next couple of days – watch out for YT videos from there!
MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkI know – I too will have to dig deep into my pockets to find the money……..if I want a pair of these (for ceiling/hight speakers with my Theatre).
Certainly a bit more expensive than I would have guessed (compairing e.g. to a pair of the A5’s) ?
But still reachable for a lot – just remember the original prizes of previous smaller Beolabs. However – apart from the prize especially for the wooden frets – I guess they are all a lot of the Beoworlders have asked for – including PL and WPL/WiSA – form factor and placement options.
Personally I would not need the multiroom/included sources etc functionallity. But making two versions (just a speaker and the Mozart/multiroom version) probably would not be possible saleswise. Will be interesting to see/hear how it delievers – hopefully the SW will be finished/stable at the launch
I do not really see any alternative for me (as hight speakers etc)….except for a pair of preowned BL3’s, 17’s or maybe the BL4’s.
Which other company could deliever there??MM
Location: Flensborg————DanmarkThe listed pair prizes I see are 5000 € (with the regular cloth cover) and 6000 € (with the lamellas) including the table stand.
