MillemisBRONZE MemberI think I also decided to rip my CDs. This will be a veeeery smooth operation, basically decorrelated from the search of a new unit. I have abot 1400 CDs, 5 per day takes one year, which means that in 2 years the job will probably be done. Any suggestions for the format? FLAC, MP3, WMA, …

MillemisBRONZE MemberOK!
In terms of backwards compatibility B&O has always been special…….one of the things that many a costumer have loved them for.
So – it is more a question of them wanting to keep their old costumers – after all they would still want to spend money on things….if they would work in their current setup.

MillemisBRONZE MemberYou are so right!
All that is left is having/buying used (preloved) products.
Luckily one can still make a damn good setup this way……….something that I would not be able to with products from other manufactors.
I am happy now that I bought the Theatre early on – today I probably would not be able to afford it.

MillemisBRONZE MemberThe short answer is: they have f*ucked up the SW 😡
If you want the polite answer: they have choosen not to implement this feature (ML sources accesable directly on NL/Mozart devices)…………..reason unknown 🥹

MillemisBRONZE MemberIf your Ouverture really is beyond repair, I’d consider the BS3000….especially if you want that and the speakers set up as one unit.
They are still affordable compaired to the 9000.

MillemisBRONZE MemberHow are those of us who do not speak french supposed to discuss this video?
What is he supposed to say there? What is the ‘good summary’ of the video?

MillemisBRONZE MemberI’d say……if you get the Ouverture up and running again, stick to that – it still is a nice system.
When/if time comes, you may ask (yourself) the same question again.
The alternative devices, that you mention, might also need servicing. The BS9000 has gone up in price lately, you should also know.
If you are happy with searching for the CD’s, that you want to listen to, just keep on doing so….no need for all the efford ripping these. I know, that it is hard work getting things right.
Should you go for ripping – the whole or parts of the collection – you will need a server/a NAS with an appropriate SW for managing the files. You will need a player for playing these on you system and something to control the playback (usually a tablet/iPad/mobile phone). Please return for further advice, when/if that is what you’d rather aim for.

MillemisBRONZE MemberIt – indeed – is weird!
However, which brand would you ‘support’ instead – who could you be ‘connecting to’, if not to B&O?

MillemisBRONZE MemberWhen you order you can choose the adapter cable that you’d need.
In your case the RJ45 to Y Splitter PL/DIN.
In addition you will need the regular PL/DIN cables in the appropriate lenght…..in case you do not already have some.

MillemisBRONZE MemberActually you can have both (meaning the BV8 and the 3500) connected.
The Masterlink cable can (relatively) easy be splittet with one part going to the BV8 and the other to the BL3500. It is the option programming of the devices that determine how they behave.

MillemisBRONZE MemberYou could use the A.Tape 2 socket for the WiiM instead.

MillemisBRONZE MemberBest stay tuned for a reply from an actual Stage/Contour user – there must be someone here!
My reply was just a hint, that might help – as stated I can not test it on a Stage.
With the Theatre it looks like this, when I press the menu button for Sound Modes shortly.
When I long press a more advanced menu for the actual Sound Mode appears.
N.B. This is from the beta version – I do not know, if this also is in the regular version. Sadly you find little to no explanation for this behaviour on the B&O site…..I found out per accident.

MillemisBRONZE MemberI do not have a Stage – however:
There have been some changes in the app with short and longpressing of some of the buttons.
Have you tried, if there is a change when you long press the menu?

MillemisBRONZE MemberThat network connection is just for the built-in disc player – probably for updates and the additional content, that some times is offered.
I have never seen anyone connecting to the network there.
Yes, you will need a technician for uploading new PUCs. Personally I would not want to unmount and carry the tv part to a dealer, that is only 18 miles away.
I would ask him how much it will cost and let him come, when he maybe is nearby anyway.
As for the PUC for a Dreambox, I have no idea – are you sure, that it can be ir-controlled?

MillemisBRONZE MemberA new 6.xxxx version today.
Anyone noticed a change?

MillemisBRONZE Member1: The best solution, by far IMO.
2: Good solution, but you are limited to Bluetooth for streaming and your mobile device/phone will always be engaged.
3: I have set up quite a few of these earlier.
If you are just after DAB+ they may be right for you. The BT version however is old and – just as with the 2: – you will rely on having your phone nearby and active.
The version with Spotify Connect is better (if you are a heavy Spotify user).
They are modified stock devices for being controlled with an IR B&O remote in the sense that the commands go partly to the device and partly to the – in your case – BC.Generally you use the A.Aux (or the A.Tape 2) command and 1-10 on the remote for direct access to radio stations.
Changing to the BT part can be tricky. Most people (in Denmark) do not use that.In my opinion it is an outdated product!
But it can be the right one for people, who do not want to involve their phone just for listening to a radio program.4: Which brings me to yet another solution , that might be interesting to you.

MillemisBRONZE MemberNot in my case. MM
I assume yours is an Essence Mk 2?
————
Sure, that is what I have written several times!
Forget the Essence MK1 – that is not worth it’s money…..unless you’d get it with the remote very cheap.

MillemisBRONZE MemberThe essence mk2 lacks chrome cast support in comparison to the Core if I’m not mistaken, is that right?
————
Not in my case.
