I only use the Beo4 to activate/deactivate the speakers. The speakers default volume is set so I only use the Lyngdorf to control the volume. I used the analog out on the Lyngdorf to the line in on the speakers as I believe the DAC in the Lyngdorf is/should be better in terms of performance than BL5’s internal DAC’s (differs 16 years of technological age!).

I guess I could/should continue to use the Lyngdorf and just be satisfied with the performance as is, however, it still bothers me to know that the speakers performance differ irl (without RoomPerfect). If it is SW related, how could I figure it out and solve it? Is the only solution to replace the whole chassis?

Thank you for the tip, however, I bought the sync cable from the official B&O retailer in Stockholm, so I assume it is original and not causing any issue 🙂

I had the same problem on one of my BL5’s, i.e. the room correction initiated with mic coming out but then nothing more happened, just remained quite. However, the speaker did not seem to work at all, no sound when playing music either. A replacement of the chassis solved everything (approx 1500 euro).

I haven’t calibrated them for quite some time as the room shape nd contents haven’t changed, and am loathe to do so as I hear there is a finite amount of times you can do this.

Say what? Is this really the case, that the calibration process has a limited number?? :O

I’ve set it to L-opt 1 (led flashed to confirm) but no sound (or vibrations) what so ever from one speaker, not when playing music or performing calibration. Just dead silence… ?

Yes, have brand new RCA-cables and B&O sync cable  installed. Have switched the cables between the speakers and between the line out on the preamp without success. Also with/without sync cable. But problem remains, one speaker is completely quiet.

The indicator lamp is solid red at standby and solid green when activated. It flashes green when room compensation is activated, but no sound.

                What could be wrong?

                  Thanks for the replies!

I will connect the BL5 from RCA line out (not speaker connections!) with variable level and not set to full range (max volume). Will give it all a try and let you know of  the results.

Question 1: is there a way to factory reset the BL5’s, i.e., neutralize prior room/bass adaptions? Would prefer to use only the Lyngdorf’s RoomPerfect instead based on a neutral BL5.

Question 2: is it possible to make adaptions to the 5v trigger signal from the Lyngdorf to become 2v (B&O standard(?)) to activate the BL5’s when starting up the Lyngdorf, and thereby avoid the necessary use of a Beo4 remote?

                  Thank you again!

                    Hi,

Just bought a pair of Beolab 5 based on the looks! Realize I should have read about all volume control issues first…

My plan was to connect from analog line out on my Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 to analog line in on the BL5’s and adding a sync cable between the speakers. Would that connection do it? Could I control the volume by adjusting the Lyngdorf, or do I need to buy a Beo4 remote? FYI, the line out on the Lyngdorf can optionally be set to fixed/full range, if that helps? Also, do I need to use the trigger output on the Lyngdorf (its 5v!)?

                    Thank you in advance!
