Reviving an old thread… Is there any way to eliminate the buzz, assuming that Cat cables were used, and it’s not an option to run new cabling?

I’m getting a constant buzz in this scenario:

Beosystem 3 (in a media closet)  -> PL to Cat adaptor -> Cat cables (built into walls) -> Cat to PL adaptor -> BL 7-2

Replacing the cat cable is not an option, and I can’t run a new PL cable the whole length. Any options here?

I’ve had the random turning on event with my LG connected to a Stage. It has only happened 3-4 times in the 18 months we’ve had them, and doesn’t follow any pattern.

I think it depends on where you will place the speaker. The Beosound 2 is very versatile since the sound is dispersed 360 degrees. I can put it in the middle of the room and works great. The Beolab 8 is also great sound, but must be “facing” where you want sound. I tried different areas in the middle of my living room and it didn’t work the same way. Now I have a pair at the front of the room which sound amazing, but they are more limited in placement options.

Changed cables to CAT8 shielded and reset the speakers, and now they work with the TV.

Now, to figure out where to put them since I hadn’t planned on having to hard wire them…

Have you tried connecting via the app? My Avant NG will sometimes “freeze” with the green light and do nothing. I go into the app and put everything into standby, and that usually triggers it to turn off, then it works ok. It’s not often, but the app seems to trigger a reset of the TV.

Thanks, didn’t realize the WISA versions were a mismatch. Especially strange when it shows connected, appears as Beolab 8 in the speaker connections as Wireless PL, and plays the “noise”. Maybe more so disappointing that a fairly recent (and very expensive) TV is incompatible.

Still working on the cable connection – ordered new shielded cables to see if that makes any difference. Right now, I get bad noise/ feedback but no actual sound from the TV.

                  Still trying here…

I picked up a second BL8. Same issue with the Avant NG. I even tried hardwiring into PL for the speakers and get the same results. I can see the speaker connected as wireless, it makes the “noise” during speaker role determination, but no sound otherwise.

Really frustrating to have these new speakers and not be able to add them to my surround setup.

As a follow up, I haven’t figured out the connection of the BL8, but… I did do a lot of experimenting with the different settings / speaker groups / etc. All this left me even more perplexed.

I also grabbed my Beolab 2 from the other room to see what it would be like to have two subwoofers. I wired it through a physical powerlink cable. The TV recognizes it and works, but the BL19 shuts off. I tried assigning both to Subwoofer, then one to Sub Front and one to Sub Rear, and all combos of Sub combinations, and only one subwoofer would play. Some groups it would be the BL2, others it would be the BL19.

Any ideas on how to use both a BL2 and BL19 with the Avant NG? Does it make any difference that the BL19 is WISA and the BL2 is wired?

All my test setups have been in “TrueImage” and not “1:1”. I also tried 1:1 in a couple of tests without any luck.

I bought that combo in January and am really pleased with the solution. The TV has an amazing picture and the sound works well for us in a room that’s approx 3m x 4m.

Watching Amazon, Apple TV, Netflix, etc is seamless. Where I struggle is we still have a STB for live TV watching, which requires another remote. I wish there was a PUC to manage that.

While we use our Avant NG for most watching, I prefer the picture on this newer panel. The stage works well with the multiroom functionality on the app, but I haven’t tried to connect any other sources directly to the stage.
