BRONZE MemberYes. I have the Quick Start enabled. I remember there was another setting that I disabled in order to turn off the art gallery screen saver. Otherwise, Standby would not actually turn off the screen and it would just show the art gallery.

BRONZE MemberI replaced my cables, too. Those cables that came with the Theatre are unreasonably short. I found that I had to place the Theatre on a piano bench next to the wall in order to manage the cabling while getting it mounted on the wall.
A problem that I’ve recently been encountering is that if the TV and Theatre off for a long time that the Theatre does not turn on the LG TV. However, if they’ve recently been on, the TV turns on with no problem. I have the power saving on the TV off so that the B&O app can work. Has anyone else encounter this issue?

BRONZE MemberThanks, Steve. I need wisa because I don’t have enough wired PL sockets for a 7.1.4 speaker configuration. I will test whether speakers recognize the signal being sent as L or R channel by toggling the L/R switch on some other speakers when I get an opportunity. Thanks again for your input.

BRONZE MemberThere is a bug in the software that’s preventing the wisa Receiver One from working with the Theatre. B&O is aware of the issue and have advised that they are working on fixing it.

BRONZE MemberWith that combination of speakers, you might try placing the 19 behind your listening position. I really like having a nice balance of bass surrounding me — such as what I have with 2 BL9s as fronts, 2 BL9s as rears, and just using the BL1s as sides. The BL1s are so lacking in bass and have such a shrill sound that I think they might sound annoying as rears. I also think the great height of the BL1s might bother you when using them as rears so close to your ears.

BRONZE MemberHowever, the LIGHT and CONTROL list commands still do not send commands to the BLI.
Have you found a solution for the problem above, @beojeff ? Philippe
“Beo(doesn’t)care” has responded that a solution won’t be available until sometime in 2023.

BRONZE MemberGeoff,
Are you aware that the app does not allow us to assign all 3 of the Theatre’s front-firing speakers to the Front Center role if we have external speakers assigned as Front Left & Right?
It would REALLY be nice just to be able to use the extra speaker roles we had in the Beosystem 4 to be able to upmix with True Image. I was hoping to add more speakers to take advantage of the True Image upmixing.

BRONZE MemberI saw a new update for the B&O app this morning and downloaded it. However, the app still crashes when searching for and adding Receiver 1 speakers. It would seem logical that after detecting the Receiver 1 that it would then prompt us to assign the type of speaker. However, the app just crashes and only shows those speakers detected as Receiver 1.

BRONZE MemberCould we please see a return of the availability of at least the Wide roles? The Wide role is possible for the Theatre’s internal speakers but not for external speakers. In anticipation of the Theatre, I had placed external speakers for the Wide positions (between the Front speaker and side Surround speakers) and purchased Receiver 1 units to be able to add them.
It would not be favorable to have those speakers assigned as a second pair of side Surround speakers. Would it?

BRONZE MemberGeoff:
With regard to True Image upmixing, I’ve noticed that the available roles that can be assigned to speakers has been greatly reduced from what was available with e.g. the Beosystem 4. For example, the app gives no option to assigning Wide Left, Wide Right, Center Height Left, or Center Height Right roles to speakers. Is this just a temporary oversight in the design of the app for the Theatre, or is it no longer possible to upmix with that many speakers with True Image?

BRONZE MemberThe Beolab 2 receives both of the two channels in a PL cable. B&O once made a special Y-cable so that each of two subwoofers would be able to isolate and receive just one of the channels. However, that part has been discontinued. If you use the BL2 with a Receiver 1 for wireless, you’re able to get just one channel to that subwoofer.

BRONZE MemberI’ve had the EXACT same experience with the Receiver 1. My dealer encountered it too on a different installation. I’ve messaged Beocare and they’ve advised that they’re working on fixing this.
You should be resting, mister. Lots of Gatorade Zero to get you through Covid.

BRONZE MemberI just watched “Top Gun Maverick” with 9’s as rears. Absolutely amazing! The added bass of the 9’s in the rear is perfect. I had planned on added a BL2, but now with the 4 BL9s I don’t think it could improve upon the sound.

BRONZE MemberI believe I am reading it correctly, that if I want to add two wireless speakers, the only wireless standard supported is WISA, and am I correct that when I look at B&O’s product offering on their website, for a wireless rear surround option, the BeoLab 18’s are the least expensive option at $11k per speaker? Will any of the Beosound series work via power link in a wired application?
Yes any old Beosound speakers will work with the theatre through powerlink or you add the wireless transmitter (I wouldn’t use wireless unless you REALLY had to). I wouldn’t go with BL18’s as rears unless you have a ton of cash as it’s overkill for most rooms. You can get used BL3 or BL4000’s or even a used BL17 for rears and it should work just as well (again depends on how big the room is). I also moved from an ARC receiver to the Theatre and it’s very seamless to use and switch inputs. It’s all not as daunting as it sounds.
You’ll see in my recent posts that the Theatre isn’t working with the Receiver 1 right now. However, B&O is working on fixing this.

BRONZE MemberBy second pair of Beolab 9s arrived yesterday. I can confirm that they sound GREAT as rear speakers with the Theatre. My setup is as follows:
Center: Theatre
Front L&R: BL9
Surround L&R: BL1
Rear L&R: BL9
Front Height L&R: Theatre up-firing speakers
Rear Height L&R: BL4000
The BL9s as rears give a very balanced, enveloping, warm bass. The sound is much more natural than when I used BL6000s as rears. The BL6000s as rears sounded distracting and unnatural.

BRONZE MemberAfter yesterday’s Beosound Theatre firmware update, Home Control is now available! Home Control shows up on the Beoremote One LIST and gives us the Home Control screen on the TV. I really didn’t expect B&O to give us that feature. Nice. However, the LIGHT and CONTROL list commands still do not send commands to the BLI.
Yesterday, my dealer confirmed that there is indeed a problem adding WISA (at least via Receiver 1) speakers to the listening positions. He advised that B&O is aware of the issue and should have an update to fix it very soon. Could anyone using wireless speakers describe what happens when you add the speakers? Does the app crash after scanning for wireless speakers? For me, running a scan for wireless speakers crashes the app, but when I restart the app the wireless speakers are shown as added. However, I have no option to tell the Theatre what type of beolabs are connected to the Receiver 1. After running Room Sense, the wireless speakers are greyed out and cannot be added to the speaker group.

BRONZE MemberIt does take some attention to settings of a device to get Dolby Atmos being sent. I just sat through the James Bond movie “No Time to Die” and though the sound was amazing. However, when I checked what the sound was on the B&O app, it showed 7.1 True HD PCM. I had the output on the Sony UHD player set correctly to “Auto.” However, I needed to turn the setting for “Secondary audio” to “off.” This wasn’t really very intuitive. After doing so, I got “Dolby Atmos” shown on the B&O app. I went back and re-watched a few scenes and was blown away by the difference.
BTW, the Theatre really shows the difference between compressed and uncompressed audio. On a lesser quality speaker, streaming might seem fine. However, with a UHD you get to realize the full potential of B&O speakers with the lossless sound.

BRONZE MemberControl with HDMI-CEC works well enough. However, once you add the PUC control, the HDMI input gets renamed to “Apple TV” on the Beoremote One and you get a list of functions for the controlled device under “List” on the Beoremote One. There’s not much in the list for the Apple TV, but for a device like a Sony UHD player, this List menu comes in really useful.

BRONZE MemberGood news. I’ve found that the Halo can now fully control the Theatre. The (color) video interface is present. Touching the middle dot lets you pause/play the video. Swiping up twice provides the My Button presets. Swiping up again lets you select the listening position presets. You can select between TV and Music sources when you swipe down. All of the TV sources that you make available for the Beoremote One are available. The volume control on the wheel works. I’m able to control the lights and everything else I programed for the Halo via the BLI. However, I suspect those are being triggered by the Beosystem 4 which is still connected to power.
