When you say connected are you using PUC to control your Apple TV device and a BR1?  As this is working fine for me.

However, I have two other LG TVs one connected to a B&O Stage the other standalone where both LG TV’s are connected to an Apple TV 4K device and also a Sky Q mini box using LG’s simplink (hdmi cec) to control all devices with the LG remote.

Since updating the Apple TV to TVOS 17.4 the hdmi cec no longer works for the Apple TV, but still OK for the Sky Q mini boxes.  Only articles I can see online refer to controling devices through cec but with the Apple TV remote not the other way round.  I have had to go back to using two remotes for these TVs.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am using LG remote and HDMI CEC, and as I said, for me it worked until BST update. I don’t recall that the Apple TV had an update recently but I will check.

Hi again, I put the hdmi straight to the TV and couldn’t control Apple TV so you’re right. The 17.4 update messed up the CEC, not the BST update.

          Thanks for clarifying!

When you go to the cinema the sound from their rear speakers is louder than at home with my Theatre and connected speakers (relative to the other speakers in the system).

Do you also find that is the case? In the cinema the rear speakers are more dominant with effects where at home they are much more subtle to the extent the effects from the rear are only really obvious with loud effects. I have run the Theatre calibration and trusted these settings but do you find the Theatre calibration is too conservative when it comes to allowing the rear speakers to contribute to the overall sound experience?

Do you make your own adjustments after the Theatre calibration or do you use it it as is?

You don’t always want the sound to be what the producers want it to be. In the end, you want your home theater to sound the way you want it to be. Use your preferred calibration to start but make adjustments as needed so your room sounds the best to you.

For my room I like my BL17 surround 2db louder than « reference »

I think, from what I have observed here and on Discord, that a good proportion of BST owners do the calibration, and subsequently will tweak the dB levels. So no need to be reticent I guess.

The distances from the room sense process seemed more or less Ok in my case, but for my rear/surrounds (17s) the process produced dB values of around -5db.  I raised them both to closer to 0.

That said, most of what I watch is live sport, and even the 5.1 sports broadcasts are pretty weak on surround effects.

I guess you can boost the dB levels alot – though in that case I do question whether the overall image (including fronts and BST itself) then becomes a bit strange / compromised.  So within sensible limits, no hesitation in boosting the assigned values.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot.

My setup in addition to the Theatre is

                    1x Beolab 2

                    2x Beolab 1

                    4x Beolab 4000

Two of the lab 4000’s are near the ceiling playing over listening position and the two other lab 4000’s are in the back.

I just noticed the the Theatre calibration had made the two lab 4000’s in the back as “left back” and “right back” while the two lab 4000’s in the ceiling were “left surround” and “right surround”. This is all correct and a standard 7.1 setup. However, my aim was rather to make it into an Atmos system as 5.1.2

So, I have now changed it to so the two lab 4000’s in the rear of the room are now “left surround” and “right surround” while the two lab 4000’s in the ceiling above the listening position are “left front height” and “right front height”.

I will give this a go and see if more sound is coming from the rear of the room. I suspect it will. Then I will try to adjust the dB levels of the speakers if need be.

Though I haven’t yet, I intend to study the technical sound guide so I can make the most out of this system.

Is anyone having problems connecting to the theatre using the android app? It has started but is soo slow and keeps dropping out/ offline? Any suggestions would be great, or do I have to do another reset?

                      Thanks 🙂

Both the app and the Theatre is dependant on their own network connection. Are you sure the smartphone and the Theatre has a good network connection?

Absolutely, I run a mesh setup & the theatre is hard wired. Never had any issues before, but if no-one else is having problems with the connection then I’ll try a reset?

I experienced simmilar issues with the iOS app. It looks like the app isn’t getting the data from the Theatre. Logging out and back fixed it for me, although for a short period.

Would a Beovision 8 also be an ASE product? The link you provided only shows specifically audio products.
                                Thanks in advance

                                  The BV8’s were – in general – Masterlink-based products.

ML is the Beolink platform, that predated the newer NetworkLink-based platforms (ASE and Mozart).

                                  P.S.
The Masterlink-based products could – and still can – be integrated with the NetWork-based products (to some degree) by using the NL/ML Converter.
That converter has been out of production for a while, but can be bought secondhand.

Thank you MM, my mistake I thought the BV8 was a NL product.

I have a ML stereo, the NL/ML converter and a Theatre. Reason I look for an ASE product is that B&O support explained to me in response to my request to activate an audio source from my Theatre that the Theatre which runs on Mozart is backwards compatible with previous generation so that if I had a Core (they specifically used Core as an example but I would think any ASE product would work?)  the Theatre could activate the sources available on the Core.
So, I would be hoping that if my ML sources (via the NL/ML converter) would show on the Core then my Theatre could activate these ML sources from the living room. I was told that my NL/ML converter alone would not be enough.

I think to recollect you have mentioned you have a Beosound Essence, if mk2 it would be ASE. Can you activate ML sources available on the Essence directly from your Theatre?

Yes, the Essence MK2 is an ASE-based product.
(They refer to the Core, because the Core is a product current for sale).
And I can start e.g. a CD from my 6500 system via the app or the remote on my Essence boxes.

Of course I can not know exactly, what the support answered/meant.
But when you refer to: “…..Theatre could activate the sources available on the Core”, I can tell you that that is wrong….
….or only half of the thruth.

Sure, you can listen to a ML source (connected via the NL/ML setup), when correct set up.
But there is no integration like it was with the previous (ASE-based) tv solutions (BV11 etc).
It is a fact that many already have complained about!

For time being the only way is to start the ML source on the ML device and then Join in via the Theatre.
I e.g. start my CD6500 manually and push ‘Lyt med’/‘Join’ on the Beoremote One, that is connected to the Theatre.

                                      Hope this helps.

Thanks, MM. from what I recall (I actually disconnected my NL/ML Converter as I didn’t think it added much anymore when I replaced my BV11 with a Theatre setup) I could also start a source and then “join” from the Theatre. Can’t remember if it was sufficient to start from the ML stereo or I had to start the stereo from the NL/ML Converter. Will try later today.
I have also responded to B&O support to ask them to clarify what adding a Core would achieve. Upon reading their response again it is rather unclear and vague. Will report back here if I learn something.
The Theatre is a great product but it would have been even better if it could integrate with previous products better. If ASE products could do that I can’t help but wonder if the Mozart platform was a step backwards but perhaps it has other advantages I am not aware about.

Set you Beolink NL/ML converter (BLC) as VMaster.
Then go to the B&o app and select the BLC.
Select the black bar (with the BLC noted)
In the next screen select the ML source to be played. This source should now start.
                                          Join the BS Theatre

This way no additional ASE product necessary

add: if in the screen (visible above in the 4th line) the multiroom options are not available, close this screen and in the black bar on the main menu tap the multiroom icon. The Theatre will be available to add.

I have a BLC connected to a Beomaster 7000. I can use the B&O app to use the Core to select and play a Beomaster source but if I use the BLC in the App it sits there for a few moments and the drops back to no source. The BLC is set to VMaster. What am I doing wrong.
