Tuesday 25th will be the delivery and installation day only interrupted by a partial solar eclipse at high noon. My dealer was wise enough to order a few units in advance.
15 October 2022 at 18:42 #37443Well folks,I had the pleasure of attending the launch of the Theatre at my local dealer in Glasgow on Thursday evening and I must say it’s extraordinarily capable. On the showroom floor itself it was used in movie mode with rear BL28s and then purely as a sound speaker for music minus the 28s.Both made a very positive impression. However when I went into the specially created listening room, the film sound in Dolby Atmos took the effect to another level-it was pretty shattering and all encompassing! You wouldn’t believe the immersive multidirectional sound was only coming from the Theatre itself…amazing in every way.I asked to play pure music from my phone and the chap demonstrating then found the tracks as lossless versions. My scepticism,as a professional musician, regarding a sound bar treating music as if from normal speakers was well and truly squashed. If you factor in the retro sound capabilities for connecting speakers back to 1986 and the modular update possibilities of the Theatre itself, I would happily say B&O have aced it this time-after some less successful products of recent times. Do go and hear it as no video can reproduce the capabilities of this new sound bar.
15 October 2022 at 19:44 #37444Wow, that good… these kind of posts really make me want to pull the Theatre-trigger. You are not affiliated with B&O are you ? ;)).
I would purely buy it for music as a standalone, the BV11 with BL4000 as rears is more then enough in our cosy TV corner.
Theatre vs two Levels stereo paired ? 10 to 1 ? 😉
Theatre vs Edge ? 5 to 1 ?
Steve help me here LOL
Edge is still so underrated….15 October 2022 at 23:45 #37445I walked past this today and it reminded me of a certain product. I do love the design of the theatre!
16 October 2022 at 02:58 #37446Nice! I hope that my Theatre ages as gracefully!
16 October 2022 at 16:47 #37447If you are interested to know what it is like to live with Beosound Theatre, then please join me and Miki at 7pm (UK time) tonight on the Beotalk podcast to find out!
Kind regards, Steve.
16 October 2022 at 20:02 #37448Just a note. These beotalk videos are not safe for work or listening around younger family members as there is a lot of questionable language. Steve is curtious as always but other people in the chat especially Willie uses the F-word constantly while drinking bear and smoking cigars being the “coolest” guy he can be. Other people on this chat throw around more questionable words like “full retard”.
Really a shame as its hard to take their word as professional with this tone.
16 October 2022 at 21:11 #37449I don’t particularly like the individuals on this show, nor the format.
However, we should all wear big boy pants and discern for ourselves. I’m a bit fed up with moderation here and censorship there not only in other places but also at times in this forum. I find it offensive that my freedoms are curtailed by others taking offence.
l believe in absolute freedom of speech and if We don’t like what is being said, or how it is said or if people light-up a stoggie while swigging a Duff, we should simply not patronise these channels we feel are offensive.
16 October 2022 at 21:19 #37450Nobody is playing censor and you can make your own opinion on these videos.
The team are welcome to say what they like, my point is don’t think these videos are professional conversations that you can safely play around kids in the car or at work. It’s very much bro talk and all the language and posturing that comes with it.
So my point as before is play cauciously
16 October 2022 at 21:29 #37451oh lord, hope that doesn’t apply to the (rare) occasion I have appeared on it!
If so, apologies.
17 October 2022 at 02:05 #37452I was able to catch about 40 minutes of the podcast and there was a lot of good information being exchanged. I was wondering if it would be possible to compile a list of lessons learned or tips and tricks and put that here or another thread for that purpose. Mikipedia and the others have a wealth of experience and knowledge that many of us don’t have and it would be a very helpful reference source to use when we are configuring our Theatres. Steve mentioned about the USB adapter needing a configuration setting to work, and Mikipedia talked about some of the non-intuitive steps needed to configure speakers. I’m sure there was much more in the 2 hours. I would also like to know how successful and stable it would be to configure wireless speakers.
17 October 2022 at 05:34 #37453Does anyone knows how far the room compensation of the theater goes?
Does it correct all channels when vintage Beolabs are connected to it or just its own sound?
the compensation is done just in frequency or in time domain as well?
17 October 2022 at 08:24 #37454Hi guys,
Thanks for the feedback. The podcast is made up of a group of friends with very different views and backgrounds, but united by our shared love for B&O. Live group chats are always unpredictable in nature (especially when English is a second language for most of the group), but this often makes for a more interesting discussion. My personal approach is to always present as though children are watching, but each member of the group is free to make their own decision on how they wish to appear online.
There is a great range of experience between the group, as we have all been buying, setting up and enjoying B&O products over many years. Theatre is an item that is of particular interest to us all and hence it was no surprise that the viewing figures for last night’s episode were quite a bit higher than usual.
I like the idea of a “knowledge base” for the Theatre – maybe that could be a “sticky” thread on BeoWorld? What do you think?
Kind regards, Steve.

That would be a great idea!
Maybe people could share some basic setup experience with the LG tv as well – might be helpfull for those who along with the Theatre get their first LG tv…..what to do first etc etc.
Since people should be able to able to control both as one unit (with the Beoremote One), it would be nice to know, what you can and you can not do just using the remote after the initial settings have been done using the app and installing the LG as such. There is no – not that I know of – comprehensive guide/video: ‘How do I set up the Theatre/the LG’ from B&O, when you already have an e.g. 5.1 well working speaker setup.
(The socalled Theatre Setup video from B&O/YT does not help much here).MM
17 October 2022 at 09:47 #37456Thanks MM,
I have asked Keith if he can set up a new “sticky” thread for Theatre “know-how” and I will update everyone here once that is online!
Kind regards, Steve.
17 October 2022 at 10:03 #37457Sticky thread is a great idea.
I imagine we’ll also get software patches / bug fixes quite regularly over the coming year.
So perhaps part of that thread can log the issues fixed / resolved as these roll out.
17 October 2022 at 10:15 #37458…and the Theatre “knowledge base” thread is now live here:-
See you there!
17 October 2022 at 21:57 #37459Thanks Steve!
My gold/oak Theater is on it’s way to my dealer. I look forward to installing it and the Beolab 18’s! I’ll be listening to music again soon!
Henrik talked about possible vocal muffling in the intro song to The Greatest Showman. Is this something that can be fixed with software?
17 October 2022 at 22:35 #37460I’ve spent a hour or so with the Theatre at my dealers, albeit not listening with 100% critical concentration…and I didn’t notice any muffling issues myself.
I’d run the microphone calibration and then see if you notice anything.
Mike (the podcast host) has had his at home for a few days now, and he’s not notice any such issues.
17 October 2022 at 23:53 #37461That’s good to hear. Henrik was showcasing the Theatre at the dealer and said when everything goes crazy, the voices get a bit muffled when compared with the Harmony. His reference was the intro song to The Greatest Showman. I have that movie and I will be able to get my impression when I get the Theatre, but I won’t be able to compare it to the Harmony.
