    Hi Stephen,

I’m new to this forum so the timing of this post is possibly too late for you however I have today just finished rebuilding the ABR panel and panel surround.

The metal skeleton surround frames I already had but one of the ABR metal panels was missing. I had a local metal shop cut out a rectangle from 1.2mm thick steel plate and I went home and ground a radius on the four corners to match my pattern part. Then came the fun part…

I used a piece of 1mm thick neoprene (from an ebay supplier for £5.00) and placed it onto a flat board. I used masking tape to stretch and tension the neoprene evenly around all of its sides. I then placed the skeleton frame onto this neoprene sheet and used superglue to stick it down. Once that was dry, (about 30 minutes) the solid metal panel can be cleaned and glued down to the neoprene sheet  – inside the skeleton frame To get this accurately positioned, I placed it in the desired position and used three pieces of making tape – about 6″ long to act as hinges and used these to stick across the panel and one side of the skeleton frame. I made a tab to aid lifting the panel from another piece of masking tape and then hinged the panel in to an ‘open’ position to apply superglue and then hinged it back down to glue it together – see photos.

If you need to ask me any questions please feel free.
