Hi,
does anybody know if the Beosound Encore still supports DLNA?
I hope it does as DLNA runs very well with the Bang & Olufsen App, a dedicated DLNA Server and multipe B&O devices.GOLD MemberThat sounds like a very nice hobby and I can share the fascination 🙂
Than a good preamp that suits your number of input sources should be a good way. If you buy a unit with a display you may improve comfort with custom source names.
Have a look in the user manual or ask the seller if the preamp allows to rename input sources to show them accordingly in its display. For example “AM Radio” instead of “Tape”.GOLD MemberIf it involves the term “hackers” I can imagine that it’s a little bit difficult to change the display 🙂
Yes, it’s still running Windows 7 due to some software that will not run on Windows 8.1 or 10.
GOLD MemberThese where just 2 examples and one out of many solutions for your problem.
If it’s elegant is a matter of personal taste. I’m using a TA-E9000ES on one of the Beosystems as many members of the family don’t think “A.Mem” or “V.Mem” are very intuitive names when they want to listen to music. When a preamp has a display and can show “Blueooth”, “Chromecast” (or any other free text) on its display it’s helpful. You can hook up any preamp and highend preamp you like to your system and hide it in a cabinet.
Don’t worry:
Some of those devices are much more highend than Bang & Olufsen (qality and technology).
There are preamps etc. for custom installations, too and those can be controlled through professional home automation solutions (RTI, Crestron, KNX …)GOLD MemberOn Madskp saidA little curious question. Would it be possible to change the TAPE command with the CD command for the Beotooth 5500?
One usecase I could seen for this is a computer using one Beotooth as speaker connection, and the other beotooth could the be used for connecting a phone
That is a good suggestion. Maybe a small swich can be integrated which chooses to which command the Beotooth will react: Tape, Tape 2, N.Music, CD …
GOLD MemberThank you for the photos. Yes, it looks nicer than in the press pictures and the control via Beoremote, Halo remote and app is very nice.
But
– the cold white led light doesn’t look as good as on the old 9000.
– the stand looks somehow cheap and unfinished compared to the old one (at least at the photos).GOLD MemberCongratulations! The Asus NX90 still is such a niece piece of equipment!
Does anybody know if the display could be upgraded to a newer one? Brightness and contrast of my NX90 doesn’t fit modern standards anymore.
GOLD MemberVery interesting device and good work!
Does it support other codes than AAC? For example aptx?
GOLD MemberYou can hook up any preampflifier you like to the 3,5mm stereo aux to usb-C adapter of your of your Beosound Theatre and then connect all desired analog (or digital, depending on the preamp’s connections) sources.

I found things like this:

So there are ways to reach our B&O toys on another way.
I’m not a software develover, so maybe some better educated member can shine some light on this.
GOLD MemberFor a true sustainable system, it should have the option to add Beo4 infrared control, too. Like on the Essence MK2 and Core.
But all in all I like the new Beoconnect Core! With this aluminium design there’s no more need to hide it away. Looks nice and the AUX-Input can easily be fed by a preamp for multiple other audio sources, too.
GOLD MemberAs far as I know only the 1st generation of A9 worked with Beo4, 5 and 6 as it had an infrared port. Later generations of A9 only work with Bluetooth.
GOLD MemberThank you for all the good work to make the jewel Beoworld happen and keeping it alive.
GOLD MemberThanks for your input. So it seems a little more complicated than originally thought 😉
GOLD MemberHello Johan,
yes, the Beosystem 3 manages the HDMI inputs (Streamer, Blu-Ray…).

According to the site the kids unfortunately must be mininum 12years old for the factory tour. 🙁GOLD MemberModel: BeoSound 1 2nd generation”.
Okay, that was too obvious. 😀 Thanks.
So, MK1 battery required and service manual.
GOLD MemberIs there a service manual on how to dismantle it WITHOUT scratching and damaging? 🙂 Didn’t find one on Beoworld nor online, only for the lovely old Beosound 1 with CD player.
Can anybody tell me if my BS 1 item no. 1665511 is MK1 or MK2? There are two different batteries available.
Currently I didn’t disassemble the BS 1 so I can’t tell whether the internal charging circuit is dead or just the battery.
It’s strange that local control is broken… and even stranger if this has its cause in a broken battery.
Yes, I know that lithium batterys aren’t fun. That’s why I don’t buy an electrical car, too. 😉
GOLD MemberSad news.
He contributed so much to our B&O community. My condolence to his family!
