I do not want to work with a separate app just to control this product.
Does it have any advantages to just connecting an essence or a core to your product? thats what I did with my 9000 and it works great.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberFirst try replacing the HDMI cable that might fix everything. I don’t see any widespread reports of Stage owners experiencing this so I wouldn’t be so quick to say B&O is garbage.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE Memberif you get an essence it has two Power link ports. You can connect the 18s to one port, and then the 19 to the other port just run a cable around the room along the floorboards and this way you can avoid having to get the expensive transmitter.

I commenced my audio setup with B&O On BL18 speakers and connected them to a Marantz receiver for several years. The system performed well.
Firstly, I recommend avoiding wireless connectivity if possible. Looking at the provided image, it appears that running cables to the cabinet is a straightforward option. Wireless connectivity would incur additional costs and introduce potential reliability issues.
An alternative solution is to consider purchasing a Beosound Essence Mk 2 speaker and connecting it directly to the BL18 speakers using power link cables (Cat7 Shielded Ethernet). This option offers a more cost-effective alternative to either the new or old core speakers. While the new core is touted for its superior sound processing capabilities, the decision to upgrade ultimately lies with you.
With the Essence Mk 2, you gain access to AirPlay 2, internet radio, Spotify, and the ability to connect a CD player or turntable and the firmware is still being updated.
For a more immersive experience, you could opt for a Beosound Theatre speaker system. This system allows for wireless or wired connectivity, as I personally chose. The Theatre system delivered an exceptional listening experience.
It is important to note that if you opt for a third-party receiver, you will lose the ability to control the sound using the B&O app. Given your potential future involvement with B&O products, it would be advantageous to integrate all components into a single application that seamlessly integrates with room sharing and automation features.

Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberHow does it look from the top down, though? Is there a significant gap between the wood and the metal? The others I’ve seen appeared to be poorly fitted.

Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberNot sure Sub Left/right makes much sense as they are both in the dead centre. Maybe list them both to be Sub/centre and the Beolab 2 to Sub left or right.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI repurposed my Theatre front L/R to act as centre subs.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberDouble post.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberOn another note I’ve been absolutely dying for someone to use two A9’s as front speakers for 10 years. With DPL that seems possible.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberMy question is why have Bang & Olufsen effectively lost confidence in the Theatre’s surround performance. With the use of the virtual speakers you can obtain a 7.0.4 system from the sound bar without the need to add any extra physical speakers.
I am uncertain about your reference. B&O consistently promotes the Theatre with at least two rear speakers (28’s) in all their marketing materials, emphasizing the concept of “building your system.” While the Theatre on its own provides adequate sound, its virtual speakers lack the external speaker capability to enhance its performance. I experimented with using the soundbar alone for a day and noticed a noticeable lack of width, which was significantly improved when I added 18’s to the front and Beolab 3 rears.
Even with this setup, the Theatre transcends the limitations of a “center channel” speaker. It effectively creates a wide soundstage, and I repurposed the front wide speakers as subwoofers. The remaining speakers can also contribute to filling any wide voids in the sound.
Honestly, if the Theatre were solely a soundbar, I would not have been interested in it. The primary purpose of a soundbar is to provide a central audio experience, and the Theatre is more about the heart of your system. If you want just a soundbar get the Stage.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI think it’s a great idea and very welcome. For me its just strange to have portable speakers with batteries acting as a permanent surround speakers like the Level.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE Member” In a fully wired setup, a wired connection between your router and Beosound/Beovision Theatre is mandatory.”
Hmmm interesting, wonder why
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberSo is it eating up my 5ghz or 2.4ghz bands. Does the Audio use a lot of bandwidth?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberSeems the FAQ link in the first post is now working 🙂
Im confused as to what protocol this DPL uses. If I have a beosound 2 and I connect it to my Theatre wirelessly what protocol does it use to transmit? it is using WIFI direct somehow to WISA or what?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberI thought that was something you can just turn off in settings?
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberTo B&O defence they are still supporting and updating the firmware of my Essence Mark2 as of a week ago. It NEVER gives me any problems with the 9000 and the essence remote is a nice addition too. The Essence really has all the features we expect like Airplay 2, streaming and multiform so Im not too concerned about support. If someday they stop adding features I feel I need I will just replace it with a new or old Core.
Location: Toronto, CanadaBRONZE MemberAnything anyone is hoping for feature wise?
