Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberNobody is playing censor and you can make your own opinion on these videos.
The team are welcome to say what they like, my point is don’t think these videos are professional conversations that you can safely play around kids in the car or at work. It’s very much bro talk and all the language and posturing that comes with it.
So my point as before is play cauciously

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberJust a note. These beotalk videos are not safe for work or listening around younger family members as there is a lot of questionable language. Steve is curtious as always but other people in the chat especially Willie uses the F-word constantly while drinking bear and smoking cigars being the “coolest” guy he can be. Other people on this chat throw around more questionable words like “full retard”.
Really a shame as its hard to take their word as professional with this tone.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI got the 65″ with the floor stand in oak and I should be getting it late next week if I’m lucky. So excited!

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberNow I have ordered a Beosound Theater and a pair of Beolab 18. Gold and wood on both.
Congrats on your purchase. I’ve had 18’s for 6 years and I use them every day and they are amazing. My personal opinion though is that they are a bit under-utilized as rears speakers unless you have a big room. It might make sense to use them as front LR and then get some older used BL3000’s or something like it as rears. Thats the setup is what I have now minus the theatre which is on order.
Also the BL18’s don’t have much bass as good as they are. Hopefully the combo with the theatre it will be enough especially for movies.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI have a feeling we will hit a dead end with support as the Halo’s battery life is rated at 24h on paper.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI just got this thing and Im shocked at the. horrible battery. Day and a half of light use. Whats sucking up all the power? is it the proximity sensor?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI did. Seems to work ok. As far as Halo’s go that is.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberThanks guys, interesting.
If I am using PL Mark 3 (Beolab 3000) to the current power link is there any loss of the dual signals in that setup?
Also for the BL18’s. Do I just use good quality Cat7 cables? I believe I can daisy chain them together and then to the theatre as well.
Sorry for rookie questions I’ve never had a B&O sound system just the speakers for 20 years but hooked up though RCA to a 3rd party pre-amp.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberThanks Steve. So currently I have separate cables running to each speaker but it sounds like I need to combine them into pairs if I want to also plug in a sub correct?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberThe one thing I am not understanding is the ports to plug in your speakers. There are 4 ports but they are stereo inputs making it 8?
How will that work if I have 2 BL18’s and 2 BL3000 and a subwoofer to plug in? Do the fronts and rears each daisy chain together and then I plug in one cable for the pair?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberMy god the Halo was updated for compatibility with the theatre but it can only control music functions. I wonder if volume control while watching TV is even an option.
Location: Toronto, Canada
Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI wonder is since I have a small room it makes sense to tell both the BL18 and the side firing speakers to be the front L&R. Or maybe that will just muddy the sound. I think it’s going to take a lot of experimenting to see how it bounces off the walls.
I look forward to the up firing ones to see how well they work as virtual highs.
Since the BL18’s will be about 1M from the edge of the TV does anyone have any suggestions as to the best use of the theatre speakers would be?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberI have a question about the software and how the Theatre will handle it. I can’t find any documentation of course to help me solve this.
Basically my setup is 5.1.
I have 2 BL18’s as front left and right and BL3 as rear left and right and a 3rd party Sub.
So how do I set the Theatre to fill in the gaps?
Even more importantly since I am using the 18’s as front L, R than what do the speakers in the theatre that normally handle that end up doing? Do they just shut off or do they automatically take on another role?
Can I manually set any one of the theatre speakers to any role? Like the wides can act as the centre as well?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberDoes anyone understand this point in the instal video the floor stand video at 4:10.
This cardboard thing you align the VESA mount to. Is it saying you should push the VESA mount down to touch the cardboard or keep it 9.5mm above it? is this the hight the TV will float above the Theatre?

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberFrom what my dealer told me the only TV’s that are officially able to control the theatre and vice versa are the few LG’s listed under compatibility on the FAQ page.
Other TV won’t have a connection port option.
If you want to control the interface of your TV you have you use the TV’s remote and not a B&O remote or app.
Im GUESSING though that with HDMI control turned on though you can easily tell your TV to turn on when you turn on the theatre. But like most people that’s not important to me as I use AppleTV for everything.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberIt’s funny that there (with one or two exceptions) was no mentioning of a required ethernet connection between tv and soundcenter, as we know it from the previous LG-based Beovisions in the new install videos. Or was what we saw not LG-tv’s, but another brand, just a generic tv? We still need to know how the unit (including the LG-tv functions) is controlled with a Beoremote One. MM
The video is marked “generic” but you can see that they used a LG C2 and matching VESA mount.

Severed_hand_of_skywalkerBRONZE MemberMy question is in the same way. Is there a solution to attach the Beosound Theatre to the Floorstand Beovision 7-55? For my seeing position the official floorstand is unfortunately too low and the solution of STB isn‘t a match for me. Thomas
Here are all the install videos
