Just to be clear: The green light is there only during startup, when no picture is present. The green light is there when you e.g play music to the BV11, not using the screen.
BRONZE MemberMaybe you could buy a non working BM3500 and use that as the donor for your Beomaster?
The addiction is lifelong 😀
BRONZE MemberIm quite sure that artwork will not be updated for music files you have on e.g. a NAS, so artwork need to be added manually.
Used to be picked from Gracenote if I recall correctly.
BRONZE MemberCan you somehow make sure that the M3 is connected to Internet? Not being able to access Beoportal points in that direction…
BRONZE MemberJust tested my M3. No such problems.
BRONZE MemberThat is correct.
BRONZE MemberAnd can you use your Beosound 1 GVA without Google talking or any voice prompts?
Yep. Google is completely silent, apart from some very few occasions where it said something
Can you pair Bluetooth devices via Bang & Olufsen app without the bad Google stuff?
No, I cannot other than the Beoremote One. I have no use for Bluetooth since I use Airplay if I want to play form a device.
BRONZE MemberDo the GVA enabled variants have a web interface, too? On e.g. my non GVA Beosound 1 I can type the IP-adress in the browser and access every single setting comfortable on my PC. Is this possible on the GVA variants of Beosound 1, 2 etc., too?
Yes
– If there’s a web interface: Is there any way to setup the GVA variants without(!) Google Home app? Any way to skip the Google parts at setup? My guess is, that I could access those platforms on the web interface and disable anything that has to do with Google and use the system like any other non GVA system. Is that possible? I’ve searched on the net and found quite a big contra list regarding the GVA versions but no information about banning the Google things.
I have a Beosound 1 GVA and I got tired of Google suddenly talking to me. I simply do a factory reset and set up using the B&O app. When prompted to go to Google Home, I simply skip that step. One effect is that the 4 “smart buttons” in the top of the BS1 is not lit up and consequently not used. Setup like that is works as if Google was not there at all.
BRONZE MemberNow on version 6.1.1
The “kill all” button have been reintroduced. Can be found if you tap the product icon down to the left.
The “advertizing button” has been removed.
BRONZE MemberNice find! I see that HiFi Klubben here in Sweden sell some of the portable B&O stuff.
BRONZE MemberThis is what my BV11 looks like through the Beotool app.
This is the latest version of the software.
Think you need to reach out to a dealer and have them push the update to you.
I had B&O (through my dealer) to do that when I got hold of a Beovision Eclipse with super old software.
However, in this case I do not recall that the BV11 got something special in the latest version, but its of course best to have latest version.
BRONZE MemberI also have the BV11.
Strongly recommend to find other sources than the built in (Youtube through e.g an AppleTV) , since they are since long not supported.
However, if you have another B&O device (non Masterlink) you can “integrate” that with BV11, so that if you press RADIO on the BeoremoteOne you get the radio source from the integrated B&O device.
BRONZE MemberThis is where you are coming if you press the button to the far right in the bottom:
BRONZE MemberNice 🙂 Looks like you found some good prices and gear. Yeah, stylus are really expensive. I sent my old stylus (from the Beogram 2200) for “re-tipping” to a guy in Germany that do that work.
The B&O virus is really contagious 🙂
BRONZE MemberThanks Hiort – that’s very useful information and the set up you show there looks great. Maybe I’m setting my sights too high – always wanted a tangential deck and the BM3300 just fitted with that. I was going to add a WiiM Mini to the setup so I can use the system from other sources – hence not worrying about CD/Tape yet. Can I ask what speakers you’re using, please? Am open to suggestions but the ones I mention are being sold along with the BM3300 and the size suits my needs. Only other thing – is there a remote that works with the BM1900? That would be handy too. Thanks again
I think a tangential recorddeck is a good choice, and would love to have one myself. They have been quite expensive though.
I have purchased a pair of refoamed CX100 bookshelf speakers. Super solid in aluminum. They are decent in my small homeoffice. Im sure the speakers you mention have better punch.
The BM1900 cannot be remote controlled. I also have a Beomaster 3000 that have a dedicated remote.
BRONZE MemberWelcome to the forum @simonharries 🙂
I think the pieces you mention is as good start as any, when it comes to vintage B&O. The BM3300 have built in RIAA amplifier, and that is always convenient. I don´t have any experience with the speakers you mentioned.
You may use the tape input on the Beomaster to add e.g a digital source like Airport Express to enable playing over Airplay.
I recently acquired a Beomaster 1900 to join my old Beogram 2200.
I purchased the Beogram new 1979/80 when I was a kind, but could not affort the Beomaster 1900 at the time. So it took more than 40 years 😉
Remember that the Beomaster that are this old may have problems with e.g leaking capacitors. There are lots of people out there that do that type of restoration if needed. All cables you may need can be sourced from Steve at Soundsheavenly. (Link on this site)
BRONZE MemberVery nice responses to the OP:s questions and very well formulated “reviews” of your setups. Kudos to you who replied 🙂
BRONZE MemberClearly a SW bug in the BL8:s.
Report to B&O support.
19 March 2024 at 08:24 in reply to: B&O releases preliminary Q3 numbers and adjusts revenue outlook……… #53616BRONZE MemberLowering guidance out of reporting cycle is not great news. I know they have done this before (last March) on occasion, but still. Smoothing out the (modest) pandemic era bump in revenue, overall company revenue is broadly unchanged over the last few years, despite price 30% (at least) higher. Logic suggests volume must be down a similar 30%! I know they are ok with transitioning to a “leaner” model, but selling less and less at higher and higher prices is awfully risky.
Agree. “We improved our earnings despite a lower level of revenue compared to Q2 of last year.”
That does not help if you cannot increase your revenue.“Our customer base grew by 5%” Wonder how they measure that? Also strange since the revenue decline. Is that maybe people buying headsets that in comparison represent a smaller investment.
BRONZE Member-
Finally! ? So many questions. What’s doing more / differently compared to the BS Core, other than being based on Mozart platform instead of ASE? The site states that’s the bridge between legacy and current products but it is not clear as it’s referring to turntables and speakers, not music systems. Would it avoid the need of intermediate converters? What about controlling a non-B&O / non-LG tv set with BR1? Would it work for volume control only or more? I presume it is supporting stereo sound only. It would mean e.g. a pair of BL18 but what if a BL19 is added to the mix? Is there an improved DAC compared to BS Core? Olivier
RIAA still needed.
Stereo only when connected to TV -
