Is it the same remote you are using or have you purchased a new one for the Beosound Theatre?
It happened again yesterday but it turned out the kids had been playing with the Apple Home app and assigned new names. All is well.
Last night I noticed that the name (which you can assign yourself) of the Theatre had been changed to something random.
I couldn’t change it back via the app. It prompted me to do so via Apple Home app which I couldn’t figure out either.
then I unplugged the Theatre and restarted it and then I could easily change the name back via the B&O app.
The arbitrary name was a combo of the name of a Bluetooth speaker I have and some random numbers. How can this happen and have you experienced anything similar?my first BeoRemote One is the one I purchased with my BeoSound Theatre.
after a month of normal use (television in the evening) the remote is prompting me to change the batteries. The remote was brand new and I used the included batteries.
Is this normal or is it perhaps due to it ran software updates when I first took it in use?
It seems excessive to change batteries every month but I don’t know whether this is normal? What’s your experience?
How are software distributed; one region or country at the time? I still don’t have the latest version as I’m still on v2.3.4
How does that work?
(my Theatre is set to automatic updates and it states I’m at the latest version)
I don’t have an Apple TV connected, just running the stock apps in the LG TV.
The Atmos test videos I am playing via Plex and the stock Plex app in the LG.
I have tested some different sources that presumably should be in Atmos.
- Apple Music, tracks marked with Atmos (same setting turned on my settings) shows as PCM 2.0 in the Theatre. I am playing this via AirPlay to the Theatre.
- Atmos sound files downloaded, they do not show as Atmos in the Theatre but rather shows up as:
Channel allocation: 7.1 and Codec: DolbyDigitalPlus.
I find this rather puzzling, I was expecting they should all be recognised as Atmos by the Theatre.
I suppose (cannot see why) that a 5.1 file that is non-Atmos will distribute sound upwards to a higher sound distribution. i.e a hard 5.1 file can only be a 5.1 sound or less.
***
The source material is 5.1 Atmos. And, the theatre is still recognizing it as “Atmos” which is why I’m puzzled as I thought you needed a 7.1 channel source to be Atmos.I have 6 speakers (front, back and height) and 1 subwoofer connected to the Theatre.
The Theatre has identified this as a 7.1.2 setup. The x.x.2 are my height speakers and x.1.x the subwoofer.
The remaining 4 connected speakers and the Theatre is 5, the “missing” 2 to make it 7.x.x I assume is 2 up-firing speakers in the Theatre. Is that correct?Btw you (forum posters) sometimes refer to seeing which of the speakers in the Theatre that are active and turned on, where do you see this please? I haven’t found it in my app.
thanks BeoMedia
Thanks for this but can a 5.1 (6 channel source) provide Atmos to more than 6 speakers on our Theatre Atmos system? Would it contain sound to 7.1.2 speakers? Or only to 5.1 speakers and if the latter it wouldn’t be Atmos would it? ?
How is the Atmos sound format encoded?
I’ve read how the 3D experience is “object based” sound etc.
However, I have seen material with 5.1 channels where the B&O app shows it as Atmos. Can this be? I thought it would need to be 7.1 dedicated channels in order to provide the Atmos experience.
For true Atmos, is 7.1 channels a prerequisite in the source material or would 5.1 channels suffice?
To my Theater I have 2 front, 2 rear, 2 ceiling and one subwoofer speakers connected. How would an Atmos 5.1 and 7.1 Atmos source material differ?
Interesting feedback from the ones of you who have speakers with their own sound correction. However, my BeoLab 1’s and BeoLab 2 have never sounded so good as now when they’re connected to the Theatre.
Is/Was this the same issue with BeoSound Stage? How quickly did they resolve it for that product or is it still not possible to chose an audio source from the ML system on the Stage either?
Sorry, I don’t think I follow – obviously the products need to be connected and the BLC allows for that between NL and ML. If they are not connected you can’t access them across products.
Is that what you mean?Update:
I can JOIN with the Theatre the source playing on the NL/ML Converter.
I cannot JOIN to music playing on the ML alone.
My BeoVision 11 can JOIN music playing on the ML network alone.Thank you for trying this out!
I will try to do sort of the same by playing CD via the ML/NL Converter and see if I can JOIN with the Theatre.
I would, however, prefer if I could chose the source from the Theatre directly.I’m still working out how to make some settings like:
1) how can I activate a source on my link system say CD from a ML product (fully connected with NL/ML Converter)? I can only see JOIN on the BR1 but that doesn’t do anything either. I might be missing something very basic but this is my first BR1.
2) arrange a sound mode so that front and rear speakers play stereo. What used to be called SPEAKER 4 on older systems.
3) arrange so that my rear speakers and subwoofer play stereo (for when stereo sound from the rear is more appropriate for a listening position).Other than that I have to say I am rather impressed. My BeoLab 1 and BeoLab 2 have never sounded this good. Very clear mid and treble as always but no rumbling or echo from the walls and floor adding rumble to the bass. Now controlled and clear and very deep tones. The switching off and on of the room correction reveals a massive difference.
I also liked this function on the previous BeoVisions.
Would it work if you did AV-TV to the BeoSound Theatre. I.e. pull in the audio from the video aource to the speaker while it wouldn’t turn on the LG display? That approach used to work on older BeoVisions as well.
Try adjusting the input sensitivity on the BeoSound Theatre instead and see if that improves. It is in the settings.
As I am switching from BeoVision 11 I would like to create speaker groups with the BeoSound Theatre so that I can have what the old Avant used to call Speaker 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
When I look around the app I can’t find where I can deactivate speakers I can only adjust their levels etc.
When I play music I would like that only the front left and right and the subwoofer to play. How can I make such a setup? And for e.g. the news just the Theatre.
Is there really no user manual for the Theatre and app?
