The painting is complete, and I successfully matched the tonearm’s original color. Now, I need to work on the tip section. Currently, it’s painted in the same aluminum color, but I want it to be transparent.
We tested printing with clear filament, but the results were slightly cloudy. Next, I’ll try wet-sanding the clear part’s surface and applying a couple of coats of clearcoat. Hopefully, this will achieve the desired result.
Here’s a quick teaser shot, adapter design vs the original.
Yes, you understood correctly. I’m designing an adapter that allows Ortofon’s OM series cartridges to be used with B&O’s SP series turntables, specifically models like the 1202 and 3000, and similar ones with an aluminum tonearm. This only requires minimal modifications to the turntable.
As for the project status, I’ve already tested the first prototypes and confirmed that the mounting and weight adjustments work well. I’m currently refining the final design for the transparent part, ensuring it also provides proper support for the cartridge and the needle assembly.
The problem has been successfully resolved. After replacing both the diode(1N4007) and capacitor(2u2 365V -> Replaced with 2u2 450V), the problem has been fixed. Thank you so much!
