B&O have done a shit job on the app since about v5.3. It’s been going on for many months, maybe even a couple of years. I lost track. I don’t understand how such incompetence can persist in a supposedly ‘high end audio’ company. I don’t think they even test the beta updates of the app. They just fire them out to loyal customers with Test Flight, who have to suffer the endless frustration.
It’s disheartening to read the reviews of the B&O app in the Apple App Store. If I had read those before I had invested in a B&O system, I would probably have gone with Sonos!
What is going on with the forum? It used to be so user-friendly. What’s with the mysterious pop-ups? Have you let the B&O App developers take over? That will screw things up for sure… ?
I don’t mean it’s laggy controlling the products. More that the interface and interaction with the halo is a bit choppy. But since it’s just a glorified volume control it doesn’t matter much.
Agreed. If I had paid the full price for my Halo, it would have been exchanged the following day for a full refund. I was lucky to get a great trade-in deal of a Core and Halo for my old Moment, with the Core being essentially free of charge. I think that the Halo while pretty, is pointless and overpriced.
Welcome back!
29 February 2024 at 16:36 in reply to: 3 generations of the B&O app – which one would you prefer? #50555I’ve been traumatised since v5.3 bit the dust ?
With me, something similar happened a couple of times. I didn’t see flickering but the swirling colours on the Jukebox. It appeared apparently spontaneously. Trying the paperclip-in-the-hole reset did nothing. As you noted, the Moment continues to play music fine via the app. The solution that worked for me was to remove the Jukebox form the Soundheart and let the battery drain completely. Upon recharging, it worked as normal.
Regarding updating the software, you can set this to ‘automatic’ in the Moment’s settings.
Im surprised that Support give you that response… …That support says your Moment need to be “repaired” is just stupid.
Indeed, but that is what they told me. At first, I was told to check that the software was up-to-date but that has been set to automatic since I got the Moment. They then sent a software update to my Moment. However, it would not load despite several attempts and several factory resets. It would start downloading the updated software, then fail, retry and then start to reboot, at which point I’d get a triangle with an exclamation mark in it on an otherwise blank Jukebox screen. The Moment then became unresponsive and I had to reboot it. That got old after a few attempts. When I told B&O Support what happened, I was told that that the Moment is ‘defective’.
I‘m now in discussion with my local B&O dealer with a view to swapping the Moment for a Core and Halo, with a substantial discount. I’m visiting the store later in the week for a demo. We shall see…
I requested it on Discord BeoTalk in November, so I will ask again here:
B&O, please restore the ability do delete an entire play queue in the B&O App, and not just individual tracks. This is a fundamental feature of every other system that employs music streaming. It disappeared after the app was ‘improved’ (?) a few months ago; it would be nice to have to back.
Also, the play queue in the B&O app used to have another great feature. That is, if you clicked on the three-dot symbol to the right of a given track in a play queue, you were given the option to ‘go to artist’. This was very useful when listening to a playlist but it, too, disappeared when the play queue vanished then reappeared in v5.5.2. The play queue was restored with 5.5.2 but with less than optimal functionality.
My Beomaster 5 is broken again. If i want to replace my Beosound 5 with a BS Moment, using only the NAS function and my personal music library, is this a good idea?
My Beosound Moment works better with my DLNA music library (Twonky server) than it does with Deezer. I have read that, depending on the NAS used, some peoples’ Moment may have problems connecting with it. This happens only rarely with my system, and the cause is usually a temporary wifi or network glitch.
My 9000 is nearly 25 years-old and is on its third CD carriage / laser reader. Having said that, it was in use almost constantly until I bought a Beosound Moment about 9 years ago. I still use the 9000 though and encounter the same issue as you from time to time. With me, it goes to ‘pause’ mode, as if it sees an error on a CD. Usually this is fixed simply by removing the CD and blowing on it to remove any dust or by wiping it with a soft cloth. If it happens with every CD, it’s possible that the laser reader on your 9000 needs a clean. I think you can buy CDs with a small brush on them that can clean the laser. Sometimes, the laser might also need to be realigned, in which case, you need to take it to a B&O dealer. Good luck!
Connected it to my home network , updatted settings. Connected to my Deezer ( Premium ) and Tunein Radio accaunts. Tunein does not work on Moment at all , Deezer work only through Beoplay APP. Any advice ? May be Moment can work only with Deezer Hi-Fi ? Now I don’t see the mood wheel working , although the wheel itself is visible on the tablet. Search also does not work, album covers are not visible. The tablet only displays the name of the tracks being played and the tracks in the play queue
Hi, much the same here. I have had a Moment since about 2015. It looks great and kinda works well, albeit it took them years to get the B&O App functioning reasonably well (before they also screwed that up completely a few months ago).
But, over the years, I have had repeated problems with the Moment. I never saw the point of the Mood Wheel so never used it. Likewise, I don’t listen to radio so have no idea about Tunein; but I did read recently on the Discord Beotalk server that the Moment no longer supports Tunein. When I first started using the Moment, the Deezer cover art was displayed on the Jukebox tablet … but this disappeared several years ago. More recently, the artist names also disappeared so that now, on the Jukebox, all that is shown is the song title and play queue.
I have had many discussions with B&O Support about this. Many! It seems that the Beosound Moment has significant issues with music file metadata. This must be specific to Deezer because my Jukebox displays artist and song names as well as cover art when I’m listening to music in my personal DLNA library. After a great deal of to-ing and fro-ing with B&O Support, trying various potential solutions, they decided that my Moment is defective and should be repaired. Yeah, right!
I always liked the concept of the Beosound Moment. It looks great and, in principal, it should work – especially given the cost of B&O kit. But B&O discontinued it relatively early for reasons that are unclear to me and, frankly, I don’t believe they have any interest in supporting it anymore. As such, I think that the Moment will fall further and further behind other B&O products, software updates and other changes with streaming services and the B&O App and it will become increasingly dysfunctional. Given how much B&O charge for their stuff, I am very disappointed with the Beosound Moment. Time for something different.
Good luck with your Moment. I am curious why you got one now.
Hi All, I just registered here to find a solution to something that bugs me quite a bit. Forgive me if this has been asked/answered before; I couldn’t find any search engine on the forum. I tried with Google search to no avail. When you search for a specific song using the Bang & Olufsen App and listen to it; how does one can see the album for that song? For instance, in Deezer, I would typically hit the 3 dots and click on “Album Page” to get to the actual album, and then eventually add it to my favorites. How can this be done from the B&O app? Thanks in advance.
To my knowledge, this has never been available on the B&O App. In previous versions, you could click on the three dots icon in the play queue and it would give you two options: 1. to remove the track from the queue or, 2. to go to the artist. The latter option disappeared a few versions ago. No idea why. I have asked the B&O Development Team to put it back. Let’s see… Our only alternative is to do such searches in Deezer, add a given album to our Deezer favourites, and then use B&O to listen to it.
Over and out for the previous/5.3 beta version. From now on forced to use an unfinished and unlogical app M?M
Yep, I too was finally coerced into installing beta 5.5.2. Not happy!
Hi, A new version is out and no comment. Did anybody dare to try it? I did, another new regression as the radio played on the main product is no more shown on connected products… And of course no progress on existing concerns. Yann.
Yeah, I installed it and, after 5 minutes, reinstalled v5.3. Nuff said! No perceptible change from where I’m sitting. I just want the various options of the old play queue back.
I agree with much of what you wrote in your ‘App Appearance’ thread, MM .
https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/topic/3-generations-of-the-bo-app-which-one-would-you-prefer/
I took you at your word and am writing these comments here.
The B&O App Development Team undoubtedly have their own priorities although the rationale behind the recent changes to the App that render versions 5.4 and 5.5 so awful is beyond me. It often seems that the beta versions are released as ‘official’ prematurely, and I worry that the developers are not taking user problems reported seriously. Just read the many negative and frustrated comments about the B&O App in the Apple App Store.
However, the B&O Support team always responds when I report a problem, albeit the answer is often ‘we have reported this to our developers and we cannot give you a specific time when (or if) it will be fixed’. They have however also provided solutions to other problems.
I reported the missing play queue in v5.4 via the Support link in the app. This was ‘fed upwards’ to the developers and, after a few weeks, I was informed that the missing play queue was specific to the BeoSound Moment. Accordingly, I was concerned that this alone would put it low on the developers’ list of fixes but, lo and behold, the play queue reappeared in v5.5. I feel like they did respond to my plea.
I like Beoworld a lot and have read some really useful information here. It is also less confusing than the Beotalk And B&O server on Discord which also contains a huge amount of information. My experience with other Discord servers is that they are equally convoluted and hard to negotiate but, if you use it, you quickly find which folders are most relevant to you. You can ignore the others. Also, new unread messages are highlighted. I think both Beoworld and Discord have useful but different places in the B&O users’ world. I don’t see them as competing.
Like MM, I will stick with App v5.3 for as long as I can, even after it expires. My hope is that they will fix most if not all of the problems in subsequent versions. Fingers crossed…
20 November 2023 at 16:09 in reply to: 3 generations of the B&O app – which one would you prefer? #50551Update to the message above. Test Flight for Mac shows the previous builds of the B&O app but it does not allow one to install any of them, including the most recent. It notes that the app is ‘for iOS devices only’. (See attachment,) Presumably , this is because the B&O app is not approved for Mac computers. I wish it was.

20 November 2023 at 08:42 in reply to: 3 generations of the B&O app – which one would you prefer? #50550p.s. I am interested in the App Feature Request thread in Discord mentioned by MM. How do I access that?
By the way….how do you (re)install the previous app versions on a Mac? I guess some of us might want to learn more about that. MM
Hi MM,
Thanks for letting me know about Sandy. He already sent me an invitation to Discord.
I haven’t installed any version of the app later than v5.3 on my Mac. I have been testing the beta versions on my iPhone and iPad. Given what a disaster these are, I am hesitant to install these on my Mac until there are significant improvements. The version in the App Store is 5.5.2. I might give it a try on the Mac since my biggest complaint was the disappearance of the play queue in 5.4, which is now back.
Incidentally, there is a Test Flight app available for Macs in the App Store but I haven’t downloaded that. I just use my iPhone as the testbed for the B&O app before updating the Mac. Or not!
20 November 2023 at 08:32 in reply to: 3 generations of the B&O app – which one would you prefer? #50549Stephen, I’ve sent you a message with an invite etc., and small explainer. Let me know if you have any q’s.
Got it, thanks Sandy

19 November 2023 at 21:17 in reply to: 3 generations of the B&O app – which one would you prefer? #50543I forgot to mention that I mostly use my MacBook Air as the B&O App interface, even though the app isn’t really designed for use on a Mac. I wish it was; My MacBook has basically replaced my iPad as device of choice. I use my iPhone B&O app when I’m upstairs in bed.
