If one should do a comparison to the official whiteB&O remotes, the MCP 6500 has white background for the black button and the Beoremote one have the buttons so close that there is no background, so any comparison to what “it would look like” if it was an official product is difficult.
I however fully understand that you do not wan’t to change the top plate because of the Bang & Olufsen text.
Thanks Mads for the kind words.
Just for you I’ve attached the requested comparison with the white MCP 6500 and yes the white BL5K is a little bit “off white”.
You are absolutely right that the top plate should have been white as well but as you say then the Bang & Olufsen text will disappear and I’ve no clue how to added it again afterwards

After renovating quite a few Beolink 5000, my BL5K Brother in Arms and I have been working on a white version of a Beolink 5000 that B&O never produced.
This is number 2, judge for yourself!

I recal how to do the PCB layout with adhensive pads and traces. Done that a lot in the early 80’s when I in apprenticeship as electronics technician.

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberOne think you have to be aware of, is when you get the USB port to be recognized in the configuration tool you can’t download the current Beo5 configuration and have to upload a brand new one.
Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberThis issue has been discussed a lot on the old forum.
The configuration tool when used for programming Beo5 needs to be run on a 32 bit version of windows. Either on an old computer or on a virtual machine running 32 bit windows.
I use VirtualBox and a old 32 bit windows 7/configuration tool 6.xx to program my Beo5’s. It took a lot of time and frustration to get the configuration tool and USB driver/port to connect to the Beo5.

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberI’ve seen that when using normal non-rechargeable batteries on the Beolink 5000s that I’ve renovated. The minus pad is often to small and create bad contact in the battery bay, especially the midle one. . Problem was solved by using rechargeable batteries (Ikea LADDA) where the minus pad is bigger.
Hope this can help.

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberHi Filip, that is a great job, did you have to create new contacts from the solid mount of the remote to the glass of the display?

For a start you could send me an PM 🙂

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberI’m so glad on your behalf Fillip, that every thing turned out great with your Beolink 5000.
It was me who got in contact with Filip, as he has for a long time searched for a solution to replace the old display ribon and I actually have contact to a guy who can do the job.
The process is to strip down and clean the display and PCB for old glue.
Then send all the pieces the guy and this is what you get returned.
Then is just to reassemble the Beolink 5000 after a recap of the IR PCB and the enchanting result is a fully functional Beolink 5000.

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberFor arround 7 years ago I purchased a complete Beosystem 6500 in white. The MCP 6500 main PCB was in bad shape due to leaking batteries and had been stored away until now.
Thanks to fellow Beoworld member Madskp who has supplied me with a doner MCP, I now have a fully functional mint white MCP complementing my Beosystem 🙂
Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberThat’s normal behavior for the MCP series (5000/5500/6500) and the blanking time can’t be adjusted.

Location: Hvidovre, DenmarkMy B&O Icons:GOLD MemberIt seems that someone has cracket the problem. In the facebook group Bang & Olufsen there is a thread where a solution is shown
