Madskp you were correct with your suggestion. I moved the AirPort Express to the main room and connected it back to the BS9000 and it is all working fine. I don’t quite know why the Aux on the BS3 did not work, but not to worry. I have a bit of a mess of cords at the base of the BS9000 stand but will have to work that out at a later date. I am just so appreciative of Guy and your assistance as it was beginning to dive me nuts.

Anyway until next B&O crisis thank you again.

    These are the impulsion BS3

    AV1 None

    AV2 V. Mem

    AV 3 DVD

    AV4 V. Aux2

    AV 5 None

    AV6 Camera

I think the input for the Airplay input is AV 4 V. Aux 2. I have added V. Aux2 to the Bio 4 but it does not seem to activate it. I think I must be doing something fundamentally wrong. In my defence though one seems to almost need a PhD to set up the BS3!

Yes this is what I had when the BS9000 was in the link room and it worked perfectly. At the moment I have the second AirPort Express connected to the BS3 and / or BC2 (I am actually not sure which). So the Auxiliary input on either the BC2 or the BS3 will not transmit the signal?

Thank you for your considered response and taking the time to help.

My ML Active is SW1.6 so I guess this is not the problem.

When the BS9000 was in the link room and the AirPort Express was plugged into it the sound came out of the main system. The Aux of the BS9000 sent the signal to the main room and it all worked. When I press A. Men on the Beo4 I am not sure what is supposed to come on: the Aux on the BS9000 or the Aux on the BC2 or the input on the BS3 – in fact none of them seem to trip and turn on.

    A. Mem in both room turns speakers on but no sound, but it also turns on the BS9000 (which I don’t think is correct as there is now no Aux connection to the Airport Express.

I have two cables joining my two rooms: One is the Masterlink cable and the other is an ethernet. The signal from my Mac goes through ethernet to an express then this goes trough to the main room via ethernet, then plugs into another AirPort Express which is connected to my main system.

I know this is probably as confusing to you as me. I just hope soon to be able to listen to Computer Music on my system.

Many thanks in hope of a fix.

I purchased a new RJ45 to Masterlink Cable and the rooms now seem to be communicating.

A problem I had not thought about is that my Mac was connected to A. Aux in on BS9000 in the link room which would play music from my Mac to either or both rooms.  Now it is not and the Airplay units do not seem to be communicating. I have a second cable running from my Mac to an airport express and then ethernet to main room then another AirPort Express to my BS3.

I notice that when I press A. Aux in my link room then the BS9000 now in the main room still comes on to A. Aux. However there is now no direct connection to this machine as there was before when the cable was connected from AirPort Express to A. Aux in on the 9000.

I thought the BS3 would pick up the AirPort Express as I believe it is plugged into it. One problem might be that I don’t quite know which button to press to access the AirPort Express. The BS3 is so complicated for me.

    Any thoughts.

I am really grateful for the advice I have been given so far as it has solved the main part of my problem. Now just to get this last bit working.

No BL8000’s and BL 6000’s are in main room and are working with the main system (including BS9000) okay.

Link Room speakers (BL4000’s) are connected to a Beolink Active Which is connected to main room through Cat 6 cabling in wall.

There is no Ml connection to BC2. I think this caused some conflict and removing it solved the previous problem when BC 2 was in main room and Bs9000 was in link room. Everything worked okay when they were in separate rooms. Now the two are in the main room with the Beosystem 3 there is this problem.

The fact that the BL4000’s turn on with the remote through the BL Active means there is communication at some level. The fact that they turn off after a few seconds suggests some communication difficulty.

I have ML Active optioned to L. OPT 6

    Hi Madskp

Yes everything in the main room is working DVD on BC2 plays the disc inserted either DVD or CD. Cd on Beo4 plays the Bs9000, and DTV plays the television so all seems okay in the main room.

When serviceman was here he connected the RJ45 to Masterlink to Beolink active in the link room and it seems to work fine. I asked him to use this cable in the main room to connect the Bs9000 as I only had one of these cables.

Since I have bought a second RJ45 to ML cable and connected it to link room but this time it does not seem to work. I have tried looking at option and I believe opt 6 is the way to go with the Masterlink Active but I cannot get any sound from the Link room.

I do remember once previously that the two masters did cause a problem but the technician solved this. Is it the case that now I have three masters: BC2, BS3 and Bs9000 in the same room? I wonder if there is some conflict here.

I really appreciate your suggestions and will keep working on this problem and any further ideas would be really welcome.

Just last week I had the B&O service man (who is great btw) return my Beosound 9000 with a new laser and upgraded circuit board?

He tested my components and the Beolink Active and BL4000’s worked fine in isolation.

My cabling Cat6 is in my walls so cannot replace. There seems to be some connection as when CD is pressed on Beo4 the BL4000 lights come on but then shut down within a couple of seconds and no sound from the CD is heard.

Sorry I meant Beosystem 3 which runs the whole shebang!

When I disconnect the Beosound 9000 and play a CD on the BC2 I get no response at all in the link room. In fact none of the Beo 4 buttons have any effect on the BL4000’s. Disconnecting the Beosound 9000 seems to have completely cut off the link room. The 9000 is obviously part of the chain and disconnecting it stops messages going to the Beolink Active and  speakers in link room.

This is really frustrating as it has always worked fine when BS9000 was in link room with BL4000’s connected directly.

Any assistance would be really appreciated.

My BS9000 seems to have just given up the ghost and will not play CD’s any more so I will take up this discussion once I get it going again. Many thanks for the suggestions.

BTW I did disconnect the Masterlink and it has worked eventually I think.

Sorry a bit of confusion. There is no BV8 in the equation as this is toehold TV that has been replaced by a Samsung!

It is BC2 BS3 and BS9000 that are plugged together with the 9000 cabled in another room. It is this 9000 for playing CD’s that will not take any commands from the main room. It used to work with the BV8-40 but will not with the BS3.

I tried your trick of removing the Masterlink for the BS3 but it made no difference.

DVD in BC2 is connected to BS3 via SCART and does work with the Masterlink removed as you suggested, but it worked before. This is a real conundrum and very annoying.

Thank you for your suggestion as I am willing to try anything to get it working again.

    Thank you for your reply.

The BC2 is connected to Bs3 by SCART and Masterlink and the BC2 is usually used to play DVD’s or Cd’s if you press DVD on the BEo4. If you press CD on the Beo4 you should get the other room BS9000 to play which its does not do now.

The cabling is the same as I used before.

Thank you for your advice, I suspected this may be the case. Just out of curiosity is it viable to replace the screen of a BV8-40 screen? The rest of the TV is fine except for the broken screen and the hideous sticky black coating on the frame! If it was financially viable I could go this route. I would be interested in your opinion.

    Many thanks
