Look up the specs of your Marantz RCA output. As indicated above, hopefully the specs say something helpful / similar like for my Linn i.e its RCA is max 2V at 80 (linn) volume. If it doesn’t indicate the volume, and just says rated at 2V, then you may need to play around with a Marantz volume and find a max Marantz volume than makes sense. And yes, I think with the Marantz RCA rated at 2V, then you should set the BL50s input voltage (for RCA) at 2V too. Also check the Marantz RCA impedance, and make sure it fits with the right BL50s RCA impedance setting. Again, worth having a quick scan of the BL50s TSG – a quick Ctrl F for “impedance” and / or “voltage” will get you to the right section quickly.
indeed the Marantz does show 2V at 0 volume. Numerically the volume goes from -80 to +18 (max) l. But I did limit it to 0 to prevent accidents.
But I don’t know what TSG scan is, however the app shows, input impedance is 50 ohms. Is that what you meant?Thank you again for your kind help. I very much appreciated it.
… thank you for your replies. The speakers are connected to a Marantz preamplifier with an output at 2V. So, does that mean that the input of the speakers should ideally set also to 2V and volume set to 90?
Ok. I panicked for a few moments there… I’ll start with printing the manual. Thank you so much, I appreciated it.
Ok… I did indeed reset ? the room calibration and I regret it already. For some reasons the volume is not as high as it was, despite it is set to max-90, and the tweeter assembly does not recess as It did earlier in just one minute. I’m confused thou: Is there a section with advanced settings as, starting a new calibration? Or set the timer for the standby? Am I missing a portion of advanced software?
I’d love more enlightening.Thank you again for reading this.
Thank you so much for the precious info.
Beside the fact that my curiosity leads me to wanting to know what they sound like without it, the calibration performed by the installer was less that optimal to say the least. He was holding the mic with his hand throughout the entire process, and with his body standing between or near the mic as he was handling it. I know I can do a better job than that when I’ll get my hands on the microphone which I don’t have as now. Thanks again.
Ok, now that the BL50 have been installed (overwhelming to say the least!) I’ve understood a little more on what you all meant. It works reasonably well although the difference in volume between RCA and spdif is huge, it still is manageable with 3rd party. Thanks again for your inputs.
Thank you so much for your enlightening post. I understand that there still a need for some trickery. I realize the complexity is dictated by many diverse factors but I was hoping in a more elegant solution nowadays. Unfortunately I don’t have any other B&O hardware in the chain. Just the speakers and BR1. If it only allowed me to set different start volume corresponding to each source, that would have done it for me.
Perhaps I should have gotten a Halo instead of the BR1?
