thanks for the response. Appreciate it. I am using a dim bulb tester now….I replaced TR13 and 14 as they tested bad. But now IC1 is suspect – tests as a diode on a working 4002. Fails any test on this board.

it seems to be that the pads that hold each spindle (that fit into the casette) aren’t being released so are providing pressure hence the slow speed. Trying to track down what releases those pads – any idea if both spindles get released upon play?

        Thank

Thanks will check it out. I have a feeling it’s something mechanical – as the position of the wheel with the smaller belt doesn’t seem right. I’ll check both. Appreciate it

i have a question. and wondered if you’d seen the same. on the underside of the tape deck the belt on the smaller white capstan is constantly in contact with the large aluminium wheel.

Also these seem to be going all the time and never stopping even if playing the radio.

            thoughts? Thanks

one question. How did you raise up the platter to be level with the surrounds? the brass screw/nut won’t go high enough. Did you add some shims underneath the platter?

                  thx

thanks. i did get the spokes off and attached it to a drill and sanded it down. Doesn’t look as good as yours tho. thanks for the info on not gluing the spokes back in – as I was about to do exactly that!

now i have other things to do….
