I have a basic question related to Room Sense as I haven’t found any user manual.
When performing Room Sense with the microphone connected etc, what settings should the speakers be set to: Free, Wall or Corner?
And for BeoLab 2 which further has settings for connected speakers 1, 2 or 3?
I’d be grateful if someone has had advice from B&O about this and could share it
I noticed that in the sound settings you can adjust the line in sensitivity. I haven’t played around with this but mine is set to medium from factory.
Your post suggests you have adjusted your BeoGram but perhaps an alternative solution could be to adjust the input sensitivity or in any event for other users with analogue line input issues.
I have also gone for a BeoSound Theatre. I returned the Canton Smart Connect which was absolutely rubbish and a customer support that went into hiding. The shop I bought it from was nice about it all and reported they had now had more complaints as more and more have eARC televisions.
I had a concern that the BeoSound Theatre can only be setup with a smart phone and if B&O was not to continue update the app. However I assume if I keep an old phone with the app installed that should in theory continue to work.
I think the Theatre in 55” looks good with the 77” tv. The wings intended for a 77” TV must look massive!

I have a 65″ and would want the Theatre to last so might get a larger tv later on.
The BeoSound stage is just one size fits all so is bound to be at a different width than the tv.I am wondering if that would look ok for a Theatre as well (i.e. the smaller 55″ wings on all displays) hence my question.
Has anyone experience with or seen the Theatre in the flesh with he smallest 55″ side wings connected to a larger television say 65″?
I’m thinking whether it is necessary to make the Theatre look wider/larger than it needs to be and if one later were to upgrade to a 77″ or even a 83″ display the wings would need to be swapped with larger wings and then the Theatre would look even larger despite not needing this width.
Are the smallest 55″ side wings the safer option or would it look ridiculous with a larger 65″ display?
Thanks but as the setup I am thinking of would have the front left Beolab 8002 and Beolab 2 close to each other my question is whether a front left Beolab 8002 and Beolab 2 can share a RJ45 cable? Reason I ask is that these two would normally not be in series as a front left and front right would normally be.
In other words could you in your drawing on the left have Beolab 8002 and Beolab 2 and to the right of your drawing have the other Beolab 8002?
I am well aware it would consume two RJ45 connectors to connect these three speakers. I am just not sure if a subwoofer can have a dedicated connection to the Theatre while sharing RJ45 with another speaker like a front left.
I think I understand – it is possible to use one Powerlink RJ45 cable to connect the BL2 and one of the front speakers. That is great thanks.

How many different external speakers can you connect to the Theatre?
B&O writes, Advanced Sound Features:

Dolby Digital plus 7.1 (including DD5.1)Does that suggest that using external speakers one can only utilise 7.1 whereas the Theatre on its own can handle 7.1.4 different channels?
Further, hardwiring to the Theatre, as each RJ45 can contain two sound signals, would it be possible to have front left and subwoofer on the same RJ45 to the Theatre or is the two speaker per RJ45 only meant for left and right speakers on the same position e.g. front speakers?
how long is the included HDMI cable which comes with the BeoSound Theatre? (I guess same question applies for the ethernet RJ45 cable and power cable).
Speaker roles: I would have thought that middle ceiling speaker is a must for Atmos, is this not supported by the Theatre? I have downloaded the user manual but it is limited on information.
Questions:
1) does the Theatre support 8K as it is today or will it require hardware updates?
2) which provides best ease of use and control and sound and picture quality, to connect external sources to the Theatre or to the television?
3) can the Theatre control an LG CX? I find the user manual unclear as it states “newer than CX”, does that include or exclude the CX?
4) how many speakers can be wired to the theatre, I see 4 RJ45 powerlink, is it fair to assume 8 speakers? And can one assign any speaker position combination for each RJ45 or will they need to be in pairs i.e. front left and right as opposed to a subwoofer and a center speaker?
5) is the user experience once all is setup easy like BeoVisions normally are so that all members of the family can use the system?
So when connecting front L and R speakers to the Theatre the L and R firing speakers of the Theatre are disabled. Is that the intention of B&O or a software glitch? It might be needed to avoid confusion Atmos sound beams but still sad as those speakers don’t come for free.
Still, perhaps many of the features of the Theatre are at a loss if one is to connect a complete set of surround speakers. Makes me even more in doubt whether to pull the trigger on the Theatre.
What is mentioned in the user manual that comes with the Theatre, does it mention speakers being disabled when more are connected?I have read all posts with great interest. In the beginning I was really excited about the product and besides the Theatre offering a nice B&O look and strong center channel performance (for true immersive sound consensus seems to be you need the conventional amount of speakers around you) it will provide you with ease of use with the B&O remote we are all used to.
However, I’m beginning to get less excited:
1) The Theatre is limited to be controlled via the app. The app is incredibly buggy and judging by some of the reports in here it prevents the product from performing as intended. Not the ease of use I was hoping for.
2) Control – can work with BeoRemote One if paired with the correct panel. Still the menus are not B&O. I can live with the latter but still…Currently I use a Canton Smart Connect 5.1 2nd gen (eARC and Atmos) with a LG CX65. It also has bugs. When you activate eARC you get loud bangs through the speakers when switching material to watch. Also a hissing sound. They have made a new beta sw for me to try so I’m hoping it will resolve it. But it has been a tiresome experience for a product that had so much potential.
Canton is not dependent on an app, is controlled via CEC (or own remote and menus) has AirPlay 2 etc and all the other usual features.
For beoremote i could buy an add on product (third party) so I could control it with a Beo4 or BeoRemote One. For my B&O speakers I could have a BeoSound Core connected at the same time so it would be part of the link system.It is a shame but I’m struggling with the Theatre as a viable alternative to my current setup. Happy to learn I’m wrong. Was close to pull the trigger but I’m hesitant now. Last B&O tv I purchased which we still have is a BV11-55 which is still a brilliant package but lacks OLED, Atmos and 4K. And as opposed to the Theater if the panel fails it is game over.
I have heard several times that B&O seem to recommend BeoLab 28 as rear speakers and the BeoSound Theatre alone in the front.
Do they also have recommendations for other speaker combinations, if so where can one find these?
E.g. BeoLab 1 and BeoLab 2, would B&O recommend these in the back (like they seem to do with BeoLab 28) with smaller speakers up front at the side of BeoSound Theatre like BeoLab 4000’s?
Considering B&O is marketing this as future proof (obviously to some extent), I am wondering the limitations of the product if the app is no longer updated? Can it be adjusted just as much and be used without a smartphone and B&O app? If not it is hardly future proof?
Curious to learn about this if anyone knows. The app dependency is why I never went for an Almond surround decoder as it can only be controlled with a smartphone app.
