SILVER MemberThe B&O workshop manual recommends using Barrierta L 55 – 3, to lubricate parts of the CD mechanism on later models of the Beocentre 9300. Apparently this should fix a problem of intermittent drop outs. This grease is unbelievably expensive, and commercially is only available in large quantities. Does anyone know where I can get a small quantity?
Many thanks.

One of our sponsors, Danish Sound Parts, offers this: https://www.dksoundparts.com/product/grease-for-carriage-metal-rails-etc/
But it could be worth checking with them first that it will be suitable for a CD mechanism.

SILVER MemberHello Guy.
Many thanks for the advice. I will contact Danish Sound Parts and see what they say. The grease they advertise is Barrierta L 55 – 2. rather than the B&O recommended L55-3.
My 1996 beocenter’s CD works really well, but occasionally (once or twice during a CD’s playback), it drops sound for a second.
I will let you know the outcome.
Best wishes,
Nigel.
22 March 2026 at 23:40 #102695 pl212SILVER MemberI recently serviced my Beosound 2300 with exactly this grease (purchased for a Beogram, but I thought it approprite to CD rails as well.) I’m not sure if it was my cleaning the old grease off the rails and/or the new grease, but between the two of them it totally fixed a ‘jumping’ problem I had on every CD around the same proportion through the disc. I’m glad I tried this first before swapping out the laser….

SILVER MemberMany thanks for the helpful comments. I emailed Danish Sound Parts who replied within a few minutes to confirm this grease is suitable for CD rails. I will post the results in a few weeks when the job is done.
Once again, many thanks, and best wishes.
Nigel.
