Replace handle on Beolit 505

Hi.

I have just received a Beolit 505. Sadly I broke the handle, when i tried put it back on, after a complete restoration.therefore I would like to replace it, with one from a donor radio.

My question is, how to remove a fully functioning handle, and put it back on, without it snapping in half? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I am completely new to this forum, so if I have done anything wrong regarding this post, please excuse me.
