    I’ve seen it yesterday.
It’s a mix of improved sound of the Beolit 20 and functionality of the Level. So mozart based with wifi, stereo pairing etc.
The looks of it is very nice.

Price, please? Are there cover options – not just wood? MM

1000€ for the non-wood option and 1200€ the wood option. The non-wood option is some sort of plastic cover afaik.

    —————
That is less than the BS Level.
There must be some major differences, or?

The FCC testing only shows Bluetooth, QI and UWB ?

No wifi frequencies tested, maybe it can connect with bluetooth to a Mozart device ?

That’s because the Mozart board is a separate component and has passed FCC certification on its own 🙂

You can find some thoughts I’ve shared here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BangandOlufsen/comments/128vxjn/beosound_a5_new_portable_speaker/

(point 1 is no longer accurate as the post is from three weeks ago, and new details have come out since then)

I was always on the understanding that a device had to be tested and certified for every frequency it radiates on. Even if that is from a module that has a valid certification.

It did get certified on Bluetooth. So either that Mozart module does not have Bluetooth. Or it got a special antenna

I have seen it in person and it is really lovely, especially the handle and use of materials.

Picking it up when it’s out on the 27th, perfect little garden speaker and nice that it’s network and not solely bluetooth.

Cute. Looks a bit like a picnic basket though.

Thinking FCCID might not have all the information anyway

I had the opportunity to listen to the BS A5 today (in Struer).

Pretty amazing for the size – as a stereo setup it sounds even better, of course.

I did not make photos…..those, that you can see tomorrow at launch day, will be better anyway.

Starting tomorrow you can see/hear it in the shops – pictures will certainly not do this rather small speaker justice.

With the Mozart platform and the future options this will bring to it, it – in my opinion – is a resonably priced product.

I am sure it will sell well.

I wonder if I can find a place for it at home ?

    N.B.
If is possible to use it as a BT speaker only, if that is what you’d want….and you can charge your phone on top of it.

Sorry it ends up on you, but I’ve always found this is the silliest, most useless and still most used argument to describe B&O stuff: the P2 is “amazing for its size”, the A1 is “amazing for its size” the P6 was “amazing for its size” (noticed how we don’t ever more heard of it?), the Emerge is “amazing for its size”… Etc.

Does this make the Beolab 90, after all “not so great given its size” ?

You buy B&O and the B&O signature sound. Whatever the size it should sound great (or B&O like at least) and size must not be an excuse for sounding a little bit under the expectations.

So if a speaker sound “amazing for its size”, make it a little bit bigger and sound just “amazing”.

My point of view (photographers around?).   😉

Well – of course you are right.
However, it will be compared to the Beolit xx – but it is in any way better (again imo).

The size makes it a portable/moveable speaker/BS…..with a ‘sound’ that is big ?

The only way to judge it, is to see and hear.
As with any speaker/BS this is not for everyone.

Looking forward to hear what people – who had a proper listen – will say.

From the pictures I find it nice (I always have loved the Beolit 12 form factor and thought it dis loose something by going bluetooth only…). I rather the nordic wave version but I should change when seeing them in real.

But the pictures with the designers holding it over the shoulder like an old gettoblaster is… Too much cheesy!
