Two potential problems that I can think of:
Firstly, an incompatible resolution (between ATV output and TV input).ย Try this:
On Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, hold Menu and Volume Down for 5 seconds, then release. Your Apple TV will switch to a new resolution every 20 seconds. Select OK to choose a resolution or Cancel to quit.
Alternatively, it could be a HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection – maybe google it?) problem, in which case you may want to try a different audio extractor (some of them strip out the HDCP).
EDIT: And welcome to Beoworld!

Assume it’s a 7-32 since you say it’s a MK3 and has DVI.
Except from the valid input from Guy it can be a TV Firmware glich or DVI/HDMI handshake issue. I’ve seen that before. While the ATV is connected switch off the TV. Disconnect from mains in 2 minutes. Reconnect. Start TV via PC command on Beo4.
However, I fear it’s a HDCP issue combined with the chosen converter. Even though the MK3 is HDTV compatible I’ve seen those issues before. Some converters work. Other don’t.
Try to connect any other HDMI source you might have…. PC, PS4/5 anything…. It will give you further hints…

BRONZE MemberThank you for the Beoworld welcome! And thank you for the very helpful advice…..will give it a try and will return for an update.
14 August 2023 at 11:00 #48038BRONZE MemberWas this resolved? Just out of interest we have an Apple TV connected to a BV5 via an hdmi Scart converter, and a second ATV connected to a BV11. The BV11 ATV remains blank after selection, with the menu only appearing after using the back button.

GOLD MemberHi,
Can anyone recommend an HDMI to DVI-I+audio converter to connect an ATV to a 7-32 which has been upgraded to HD ready? Thanks

FOUNDER MemberPerhaps as an alternative.
Plug the Apple TV into a computer monitor. Then set the screen resolution to 720p to start with and save, then reconnect to the BV7. You call also try 576P and other resolutions.
See if any of these options work, is gets around the handshake issue.
Lastly I assume you have a DVI to HDMI adaptor on the BV7. Noting, this path is for the picture, not the sound.
