BRONZE MemberIt’s been a while so I thought I’d give an update. What’s currently done:
- Support for discovering products on the network.
- Support for starting playback by choosing a source or opening the queue and choosing a track to play.
- Support for controlling playback (back, next, play, pause) as the source allows.
- Support for showing the source metadata when available (album, artist, radio station name).
- Support for creating a multi-room experience by joining a product to another one, adding and removing listeners, and collapsing the entire experience in one click.
- Support for searching Tidal and Deezer (both can be used simultaneously) right in the queue modal, including support for dragging and dropping tracks into arbitrary positions in the queue (desktop only).
The architecture is fully event driven meaning that the UI updates in realtime to what’s actually happening. If you change a track using the buttons on a product or modify the queue in the app, the UI will update to reflect that, except where firmware bugs don’t allow for this (and there are actually a few I’ve discovered).
Both ASE and Mozart products are supported – though the ASE products are a little better supported because that’s mostly what I have and in some ways the API is saner.
The UI is designed around the idea that your products should always be visible and when joining one to another they should collapse. I’m finding it works so well for me that I’m not using the B&O app anymore, which quite frankly, has been borderline unusable.
