I have quite some B&O speakers and would like to run them in a multi-room setup.

I could just do via AP2 or CC, but I would like to use the “touch-to-join” feature. Also bought a few Beosound Essence Remote (wheelie) to use as “light switch”. I tried to do via AP/AP2, but somehow always felt buggy and didn’t allow me to “join” in a proper way.

I am wondering how others are doing it? Would “Spotify Connect” be the best solution to do so? If so, is there a list what devices are (still) supported by Spotify Connect? If I remember correctly, some devices were added and some were removed?

Hard to give a direct advice – B&O speakers alone do not allow for multiroom.

You need a device like the BS Essence MK2/the BS Core/CoreConnect for the speakers/Beolabs or devices like the M3, the BS2 etc etc.

Please give us more details about your setup!

This and this may give you more general information about the use of AP2 and Spotify with a B&O multiroom setup.

I checked out the guides. Thanks for sharing. I have a few BS1, A9, C0re, etc. Some of them are connected via Essence Remote (wheelie) via bluetooth.

I tried AP and then expanding through the network. It has always been buggy and failed to join, mute, etc.

It seems there is no longer a difference between Spotify Connect and Chromecast? Maybe this will be the answer as long as I use Spotify?

What do you mean by no difference between Spotify Connect and Chromecast? I always found Chromecast to be buggy and unreliable while Spotify Connect usually works fine.  I gave up on Chromecast a few years ago so maybe it’s better now.

When I last played around trying to make multi-room work properly, the Spotiy App allowed me to choose (via “…”) whether I use CC or Spotify Connect. It seems it no longer has this option. Not sure that’s because of Spotify or because of my B&O devices. But net net, it seams I have no longer the option. I don’t mind this and in fact would be happy if B&O ditched the buggy CC (or Spotify merged/discontinued it).

Now, the big question is whether I can expand to my BV Horizons by “join” or via the APP. I will need to try this.

I do not see why Spotify should ditch the CC support – they want as many costumers as possible….means also those who have CCast devices (that do not support Connect).

Neither I see a reason why B&O should ditch their support for CC.

Even if I do not use CC much, there are cases/apps where this is the only option.

As a Spotify user (for the casual listening) I let the B&O multiroom solution/Beolink do the job, when I want to listen in multiple rooms – I can easily do that with Spotify Connect to one device and then expand to or join in other rooms.

    Here is an example:
